It’s important to be courageous because in some things it’s important to be courageous to succeed, there are times where avoiding fear won’t work. If someone avoids their fear it doesn’t make them less scared of it, to rid themself fully of their fears, they have to face their fears, to stop being afraid of the thing their mind says scares them. The book Peace Like a River displays courage all throughout the book, but the three most prominent examples of courage are as follows. The first one that stood out to me was Davy wanting to be himself in court, not twist what happened even if it would’ve made him a free man. The second being Davy breaking out of jail, knowing that he was mostly alone on his journey. The third example of courage was the family of Davy hearing of his escape and going to look for him, selling almost all unneeded personal items on a whim without even the slightest idea of where he might’ve gone. …show more content…

DeCuellar, he was in control of his own action and “if I didn’t want to shoot those fellows, I wouldn’t have done it”. In this section of the book it shows the need to be courageous. If someone doesn’t pay for what they did, they live the rest of their life feeling guilty about it. Especially if it’s something as serious as killing someone, as Davy
