My definition of courage is someone who goes out of their way to do something good. Firefighters have given their lives to save millions of people, so they are extremely brave. A person who I think is courageous is Patrick Kane, my nanny’s husband, who is a firefighter. I have known him for 7 years. He has been a firefighter for almost thirty years and is currently the fire chief. His son is also a firefighter. Patrick Kane is the most courageous person in my life because he has been in many difficult situations and is not scared of danger. One of the reasons why Patrick Kane is the most courageous person in my life is because he has experienced difficult situations. When I asked him what his definition of courage was, he said, “A quality deep down inside me that enables me to face difficulties, danger, and pain without withdrawing, changing my mind, or running away.” This means that you should not run away from difficult situations, just because they bother or scare …show more content…

This was such a difficult situation, and he still showed courage by caring for the surviving family members, even though it saddened him. If I was in this situation, I would be overcome with grief, and doing my job would be hard. This is one of the reasons why I think he is courageous. Another reason I think Patrick Kane is the most courageous person in my life is because he is not scared of danger. An example of this is when I asked him about his most difficult situation(as a firefighter). He answered that twenty years ago, he was walking into a burning house, where the fire was towards the back. The stove was on fire because the dad fell asleep while making popcorn.
