Throughout high school, I have found a passion for service. There is a different form of happiness that comes about after I help someone in need through various activities like tutoring or working at a soup pantry. This feeling of happiness is the reason I have decided to pursue a career in the medical field with the goal of becoming a pedantic doctor specializing in NICU care. This career requires a dedicated individual who works well under pressure and is able to be compassionate towards their patients. I think that I am a great person for such job. First, like I previously stated, I have a passion for helping others. This passion is something that I want to continue into my adult years because I have already seen the benefits even as a high
After review of my skills, interests, and experiences, I decided to pursue the medical career field as my first career choice, more specifically as a physician assistant. I will exceed in this position in the interest of that I like to help people and I solve problems well. Also, I communicate well with others and I have a great amount of patience. There are various careers that fit my skills and interests, but this one grabs my attention. My dream job is to be a doctor, but this occupation allows one to save money by lessening the years of school required. Also, the pay isn’t too shabby either. I will be successful in this position due to my skills, characteristics, and values, like honesty and helping others. Up to this point, I have job shadowed at a medical billing company and I like the idea of diagnosing and helping people, but a desk job is not ideal. Also, I took a medical terminology as a class and I discovered that I like how the body works and what it does. These factors have all influenced my career goal.
Many people rush through their daily life without contemplating their actions, thereby missing vast opportunities for achievement. They waste valuable time engaging in frivolous matters instead of putting their energies towards more productive and meaningful purposes. In the words of the Dalai Lama: “Life is not about acquiring money and other facilities; it is about dedicating your life to helping others as much as you can.” The immeasurable value of helping others has been engrained in me since childhood. As a result of my own difficult family circumstances, I have become more sensitive, kind and mindful towards others and their own situations. I have developed a passion for helping others, which, in combination with a proclivity towards medicine has lead to my descion to become a Physician Assistant. I want to live a life where I can provide healthcare and aid to anyone who needs.
I had known for years that I wanted to work in the health care field, but I always believed it would be as a doctor. I watched for the first few years of my brother’s life as he struggled with different health challenges such as being born premature, having croup and breathing difficulty, and speech impairment. Watching my brother struggle and then being able to overcome these difficulties, as well as seeing other children around him who were not as fortunate, really pushed me even at a young age to make a difference. My family, both immediate and extended, were very supportive, and I felt a real positive push towards working hard to achieve that goal of working in health care. In high school, I was fortunate enough to do a cooperative placement at the Peterborough Regional Health Center’s Intensive Care Unit. Through observing rounds and being in the medical setting, I truly knew this is where I wanted to
Helping others has been one of the most important values that my parents have shown me throughout the years. As I grew older and wiser, I learned that caring and showing it, gave me a great sense of satisfaction. I learned that by helping someone you could make their situation or day a much more pleasant experience. For these same reasons, I wanted to become a nurse. I knew that in the health care field, nurses and caregivers are always doing something to help a patient. Therefore, when it came down to selecting my elective classes in high school, I decided to give the health care field a try. I entered the nursing assistant program that they offered and completed the 3- year course program. After completing the course and doing my clinical
To me, life is a pretty ironic thing; it has a way of introducing you to the things you want, but keeps it just out of your reach. As we grow and go through life experiences, both good and bad, we as humans always seem to take some form of realization or some truth from each experience. The difference amongst all of us is whether or not we take these truths and make something of them. Becoming a nurse isn’t a career choice I was pushed into making. I have desired to be a nurse for as long as I could remember. My perception of nursing and my desire to become a nurse directly comes from my passion to help people. I want to become a nurse because I enjoy being around people in their times of need and I get internal satisfaction by serving those that need help. Recently I decided to jump start my health care career by becoming a certified and licensed nursing assistant. I did this for one of two reasons. Besides being able to have the opportunity to see first hand what really goes on in the health care setting but to also gain the proper knowledge and experience that I’ll forever carry w...

I want to do something worthwhile with my life, this is why I have chosen a career in Adult Nursing. My aspiration to study Adult Nursing has increased throughout the years. My recent involvement in the college work shadowing nursing placement has reinforced my decision to do a nursing degree. The placement involved completing one week's work experience at a local NHS hospital in which I shadowed a qualified nurse. This experience enabled me to work as part of a team and required me to display empathy, sensitivity, flexibility and emotional resilience. Furthermore I was able to learn all the different aspects of nursing, for example how to take an observation of a patient by taking their blood pressure, their temperature and their oxygen saturation. There are many reasons why I have opted to take this career path, however the main ones are that I love to care for people and want to make a positive difference to peoples lives. General Medicine and the subject matter of adult nursing really interests me. I have been able to increase my team work skills by completing my bronze in the Du...
I’ve always had a passion for helping others and I love the idea of being considered a dependable person. I enjoy when others come to me to talk about the hardship they are experiencing and being able to provide them with feedback or helpful advice. To do this I learned that you need to have the characteristics of a “people person”. You must be patient, which from my job experience of working in retail and the fast food industry, I would consider myself to be a highly patient person. I also posses the the skill of being outgoing and friendly. I allow myself to be comfortable when speaking with different types of people and I let myself open up so I can personally relate to them. By doing this I believe that others will return the comfort that I created and will want
From a young age, I was drawn to the healthcare field, not because the amount of money doctors, nurses and other health professionals made, but because of the dedication and contentment I saw on their faces helping someone in need. Growing up everyone wanted to become a doctor or a nurse and as a little child being a doctor or a nurse was a profession many parents wanted their child to pursue as a career. Needless to say, I fell into that category because I had high hopes that one day I will become a nurse. However, that dream came to a halt.
In grade school, we were assigned to write papers about what our dream job is or who we aspire to be. Year after year, they prepare you to write one of the most significant essays in your life, the one that determines your future. In middle school, our teachers had us research the job we wanted to pursue in life and write a paper on it. I chose to research a nurse practitioner. The more research I did, the more I became invested in the profession. From then on, I have been preparing for what I’ve aspired to be, a nurse. I am currently enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant class at Southeast Community College. I also work at a retirement home where I have been a server for over a year, and both have aided me to build relationships with residents
There are many dreams revolving around us, some that seem impossible to reach and other that are easily grasped. The diversity of this world is great, and not one person has the same story to tell as another; including me.

Passion for Family, Community, Business, Technology and Intellectual growth are what motivate me on the daily basis. These are vital parts that have contributed to framing me into the person I’ve become. They have also shaped my short-term and long-term goals in life. It’s critical for one to have a vision for their life and what they anticipate to accomplish. Without a vision or desire there is no hope for one to continue and to purse anything. Choosing a career can be challenging, because there are so many career options, but overcoming the challenges of achieving those careers can be proven to be difficult sometimes. When I was a little girl, I use to play pretend doctor most of the time. I use to pretend giving injections to my little brothers and pretend to nurse them back to health. As I became older, I was very certain that I wanted to become a pediatrician doctor; however, once I enrolled myself into a Community College, my perspective changed. I learned that everything was not as simple as I thought. I became uncertain of the career I wanted to strive. However, I learned from some of my professors, my peers, and friends that sometimes there are careers that best suit us based
Throughout my life, I have worked towards one goal which is to become a doctor. Medicine offers the opportunity for me to integrate different scopes of science while trying to improve human life. Medicine has intrigued me throughout all my life because it??s a never ending mystery and every answer has questions, and vice versa. Upon entering my career, I had assumed that professional and financial success would surely bring personal fulfillment. This realization triggered a process of self-searching that led me to medicine. The commitment to provide others with healthcare is a serious decision for anyone. As I examined my interests and goals, however, I underwent a process of personal growth that has propelled me towards a career as a physician. A career in medicine will allow me to integrate thoroughly my passion for science into a public-service framework. Since childhood, I have loved acquiring scientific knowledge, particularly involving biological processes. During my undergraduate studies, I displayed my ability to juggle competing demands while still maintaining my academic focus; I have succeeded at school while volunteering part time, spending time with family and friends, and working part-time. To better serve my expected patient population, I worked over my English and Korean language skills. I have come to discover that a job and even a good income, without another significant purpose, will not bring satisfaction. I planed to utilize my assets, namely my problem- solving affinity, strong work ethic, and interpersonal commitment, to craft a stimulating, personally rewarding career in medicine. I have taken stock of myself, considering my skills, experiences, and goals. I have looked to family and friends, some of whom are doctors, for advice. Because of this self-examination, I have decided to pursue a career in health care. The process has been difficult at times but always illuminating. Throughout it all, I have never lost confidence - the confidence that I will actively absorb all available medical knowledge, forge friendships with fellow students, and emerge from my training as a skilful and caring physician.
