Pursuing A Career As A Nursing Assistant

In grade school, we were assigned to write papers about what our dream job is or who we aspire to be. Year after year, they prepare you to write one of the most significant essays in your life, the one that determines your future. In middle school, our teachers had us research the job we wanted to pursue in life and write a paper on it. I chose to research a nurse practitioner. The more research I did, the more I became invested in the profession. From then on, I have been preparing for what I’ve aspired to be, a nurse. I am currently enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant class at Southeast Community College. I also work at a retirement home where I have been a server for over a year, and both have aided me to build relationships with residents

A crucial trait to have when dealing with those kinds of situations is being empathetic. I am reliable in dealing with sensitive situations and understanding when people are upset. One day, I was working at my retirement home and I noticed a woman’s daughter crying. She was reassuring her and I came over to see if there was anything I could do to help. The daughter’s dog had died and I consoled her, talking her through it while her mom was also caring for her. I would also consider myself the “therapist” of my friend group. I enjoy making people feel better and giving them advice. It comes naturally for me to relate to all sorts of situations and to the different emotions that a person

Combining these together has made me work harder and be more time manageable during my high school career. This is because of the expectations I am required to meet in differentiated classes and also being on time to work, therefore it has shaped me into a professional young adult. These responsibilities are not different from health care providers. As a nurse, you are required to make presentations, write papers, check up with your patients regularly, and do many more obligations. I believe I can perform these tasks well because I am a diligent person, furthermore it is also very important to be professional. Any job you will have requires professionalism and I believe with every job, professionalism will always have something in common. Whether you are a banker or a waitress, you have to take your occupation seriously. The same thing applies with nursing, every time you talk to a patient or their family you are giving them an impression of who you are, therefore you want to make sure you are always being manner full and conscious. As a healthcare provider, you should consistently be giving your patient full attention when you are with them and never chatting with coworkers or ignoring them. Professionalism is a big deal because it represents you, your coworkers, and the company you are working
