Paperclip Investigation
Plan
====
I want to find out how affecting the amount of paper clips (weight)
will affect how fast it takes a spinner to fall to the ground.
To make the investigation a fair test I am keeping these things the
same:
· The spinner size
· The height at which it is dropped from
· The size of the paperclips
The only thing I will change is the amount of paperclips added each
time.

For the experiment I will drop a paper spinner from distance of 2
metres and measure the time it takes to fall to the ground each time
adding a paper clip and recording the different times. From this I
will be able to see if weight affects the speed at which things fall
due to the influence of gravity.
Prediction
I predict that the more paper clips added the faster the paper clip
will fall. I say this because I know that the more weight added the
more force will be added too.

Analysis
The graph shows a significant pattern. It shows that as more weight is
added the time it takes to fall decreases. I also saw that the line
starts off at a steep angle and curves as the paper clips are added.
The factors I changed in this experiment was the amount of paper clips
Rolling a Car down a Ramp Investigation PLANNING When planning my experiment, I will need to take into consideration. the following points: -Fair testing -Equipment -How many results will I get? -What range of variables I will experiment with I will be investigating, by varying the height of the summit of the ramp. is raised off the ground, if the average speed increases or decreases.
In Chinua Achebe’s novel, Things Fall Apart, the traditional Ibo tribe is a very effective and lasting culture. They are the first to introduce many systems and traditions that we still use in society today. One of the major things the Ibo tribe introduces is the judial system, respect during conversation, hospitality, strength and masculinity. In Things Fall Apart, the author wants us to understand the Ibo tribe and feel sympathy for them, including Okonkwo.
Strategic and Structural therapy is two forms of therapy that offer similarity as well as difference treatment to assist the family with communicating more effective with each other. The therapist goal is to find creative interventions to help stabilize the family to maintain an appropriate relationship in their environment. Within this paper, a brief description of the similarity and difference of structural and strategic therapy will demonstrate how two forms of behavior therapy can assist families by changing the behavior.
Edgar Allan Poe has been debated to be the author of the most dark and horrific pieces of literature. He was favored by many for his complex pieces of literature that have ultimately impacted the world of literature today. However, Poe’s pieces of work did receive harsh criticism before and after his death. Because Poe was generally known for his thought-provoking short stories, his short stories often received mixed reviews. One of Poe’s most arguable short stories is “The Fall of the House of Usher”. This short story was “regarded as an early and supreme example of the Gothic horror story” (Plot Summary: "The Fall of the House of Usher"). Poe himself described this piece as “arabesque” due to its ornate prose (Plot Summary: "The Fall of the House of Usher"). However, many critics disagreed with each other on their views of “The Fall of the House of Usher”.
atsby, Bud and Warren all have a common desire: they love attractive women. Gatsby’s love for Daisy began when he was a young military officer in Louisville, but when he left to fight in World War I, she married Tom Buchanan. Then, when the wealthy Gatsby reappears in West Egg, she must choose who she loves more. Rather, Bud, a young cold caller who strikes a new job that earns him millions, meets the love of his life Darien who only cares about his money. Warren has passionate feelings for Bernice but when she bobs her hair, Warren’s love for her suddenly declines. Aristotle Onassis, a greek shipping magnate once said that “if women didn't exist, all the money in the world would have no meaning.” Through texts and motion pictures in America, women are seen as a luxury who only care about looks and money.
I did my primary source analysis assignment on the song “Born in the U.S.A” by singer and songwriter Bruce Springsteen. After listening to this song I analyzed what I thought that it meant. This song has a very clear meaning. It is an anti-War song, speaking of the memories and heavy heartache of a man returning from War after experiencing a personal loss not just as a citizen but also as a recruit. This song describes how he was unemployable for "doing the right thing". Springsteen basically wrote this song about the problems Vietnam veterans tend to encounter when they returned to America after serving their time. Vietnam was the first war the United States did not win. While veterans of other wars received a hero's welcome and a nice pat on the back, those who fought in Vietnam were very much ignored when they returned to back to the United States.
There are many times when feminism is incorporated into song lyrics to give a sense of women’s empowerment in an audience. Alicia Keys is an American Hip hop and R&B songwriter and singer who wrote the song “Girl on Fire” that was released in her fifth studio album in 2012 (Girl on Fire (song), 2014), and was inspired by her son, Egypt. This song is about a lonely girl who is starting to be comfortable in her own skin. It says how everyone is staring at her as she goes by because everyone can see the flame burning and glistening in her eyes. In my paper, I will talk about how the lyrics in this song are very bold that can be applicable to all girls. I will analyze “Girl on Fire” using a method that was developed by Kenneth Burke called cluster analysis (Foss, 2009). Through this method, I can identify key terms in this song and put them into clusters to discover the meaning behind the key words explained: girl, hottest, and on fire.
“A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture”(1). As stated by Mary Ann Bell it is often tempting to define memes by examples such as “Gangnam Style”(1). With the high demand to participate in social media the potential for a rise and spread in “ideas, trends, rumors, memes, or anything catchy”(1), is great. This phenomenon is called “going viral” and is rapidly occurring within our society. Whether these ideas, images, or trends are purposely leaked or an accident taken out of context, memes tend to have a virus-like effect on cultures(1).
The “American Dream” is the foundation of which this nation stands on. The “American Dream” is a reality that most want. It consist of various benefits such as freedom , liberty , and a carefree lifestyle. The question remains “ Is it really the “American Dream” reality or falsification of a lifestyle that isn’t attainable. We all know in order to live free , and have these rights we must work , and work hard. The land of the free , and home of the brave. A famous portion of our National Anthem. This is why indiviudals want to reside in this nation. According to the Webster Dictionary , American Dream is defined as the ideals of freedom , equality , and opportunity traditionally help to be available to every American. A life of personal happiness and material comfort as traditionally sought by individuals in the U.S.
A common trait found throughout mankind’s existence is its anthropological dispersion of human culture. But when looking to the past many questions frequently arise. Michael Cook, the author of A Brief History of the Human Race, structures his study of the development of societies and civilizations with one predominant question. “Why did human history happen the way it did?” Well aware that society and civilization are ancient arts, Cook sketches an overview from man’s prehistoric origins to industrialization of the contemporary world. Furthermore, he brilliantly explores why human history did not begin until the fairly recent past. Modern humanoids have been in existence for thousands of years, but it was not until roughly the ninth millennium B.C. that history began to make an appearance. Cook gives a compelling explanation for why this is so. He also explains that by looking into our past many answers to man’s questions can be revealed and lead humans to a primordial enlightenment. From writing and the calendars of Mesoamerica, to the progression of scientific innovation, Cook shows the reader the lush diversity within the human experience.
Steven Pinker is currently a psychology Professor at Harvard University, and contributes literary publications for The New York Times and The New Republic. Pinker delves into the controversial topic of nature vs. nurture in the article, “Why nature & nurture won’t go away”. In this work, Pinker criticizes the holistic interactionistic view, which states that personality is derived equally from nature and nurture. According to Pinker, they fail to attest for genetic variables that might contribute to personality differences. In contrast to holistic interactionist, Pinker argues that ones genes, culture, peer group, and chanced events contribute to individual personality differences. Steven Pinker exposes and debunks the holistic interactionist stand by effectively using logical evidence to devalue the conformists’ argument. He offers counter-examples, and walks us through the weaknesses in their arguments.
"Never hang your head down. Never give up and sit down and grieve. Find another way. And don't pray when it rains if you don't pray when the sun shines"(Richard Nixon). Nixon believes if you always look at the negative side of things, you'll quickly forget all the positives. Obesity is all around us and people are not doing much about it, mainly because the obese themselves give up trying. The rates of obesity are steadily increasing every year and the reasons are fast foods, advertising and lack of exercise.
At V.V.C. the teachers and student teachers were culturally responsive. The teachers develop positive relationships with the children and their families. I observed that when the children come in the teacher greats and acknowledge the child and teacher. I hand the opportunity to complete my student teaching in this environment. I clearly remember that the teachers acknowledged parents’ concerns. They respectfully listened to parents views. The parents felt comfortable and validated. If problems arose the parents discussed them with the teachers. The teachers listened and respectfully worked out a solution. York (2003) stated, “Teachers can help children feel at home by demonstrating the ability to take another perspective” (p.73).
