Pangloss might justify his condition and philosophy that all is for the best in this world by saying what doesn't kill you makes you stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally because that is an optimistic belief. In order for Pangloss to maintain his view he must ignore any form of violence, sickness, rape, poverty, and hypocrisy because those issues can actually make someone's mental stability and health decline instead of making them stronger.
