Discrimination is keeping us from World Peace
Discrimination will always keep our planet from achieving world peace. Everyone has become highly judgmental on others, that can’t be kept to themselves. In today’s society, everyone wants to speak, and when it is not their turn, they just hear and never listen. They will never go without giving their personal judgment to discriminate someone, whether it’s face to face or on social media. There are many types of discrimination such as racial, religious, social, economic, physical, mental, and even discrimination upon gender. All of these types have been the causes of riots, protest, even death.
I am going to start off with a huge factor, which is racial discrimination, which has always been around
However not everyone is as fortunate to be socially popular with tons of friends. And with this comes social discrimination, a higher issue for teens, but that doesn’t leave adults out of the picture. For example in schools, we all either hate or love the popular kids, and/or love or hate the socially awkward kids. But purpose of the situation is that they don’t get along with each other. Also since they don’t get along, it causes drama, and even fights in school leaving a school with no peace. Many of these social discrimination conflicts can lead to school kids being bullied, for who they are and what they like. Most of these conflicts usually end in pain by either the popular kid and/or socially awkward one. They could be going through a rough time with family, health, etc. As for adults, they are just known to be grown children, because just like kids, teens, adolescents, parents will go against each other worse than kids. Humans are always trying to be on top of the food chain, a.k.a. the social ladder. But when things aren’t going their way, it can lead to an uproar that doesn’t point in the direction of
Human beings are willing to kill each other for the simplest amounts, imagine what they would do for all the money in the world. With this can occur an economic discrimination, which is based on economic factor. These factors can include job availability, wages, the prices and/or availability of goods and services, and the amount of capital investment. The average American doesn’t realize how good they have it in life, being able to sleep in bed, eat warmed cooked meals, and even spend money on needless things. There are homeless people all over the world being discriminated on, this very second, because of their economic status. But us, as humans don’t understand the suffering they encounter until it happens to us. We would rather sit there and donate to a homeless person wanting drugs and alcohol, rather than a begging for help to feed their family. Until we find the love and care to help the people in need our world peace is slowly drifting away from
In a society, the discrimination is wrong, we should try to end it now; besides, discriminations make people being have a distance when they stand near each other. We need develop this society lives by unity; furthermore, I believe only unity is a super power to improve our life without discrimination of races, sex, religions, because “united we stand, divided we fall.” Everybody has an equal right in life; we should refuse discrimination in society; if we know changes, then everything will become a miracle bring the happiness to everybody.
“You would really be pretty if you lose weight”, maybe this sounds polite and kind of innocent but the actual tone and deeper meanings are very discriminatory. The Discrimination At Large by Jennifer Coleman is an article where the author demonstrates the price for being obese. Overweight people are being criticized all the time by many people. Moreover, they are now a mockery since people just make fun of them for their amusement. The movie Shallow Hal also shows how if we change our general idea of outer beauty of a person, we could benefit from it. Obesity has been a serious dilemma for the people in America. The society seems to not change their perception about obese people. In addition, people who are usually afraid to say any kind of
Everyone at some point in time or another experiences discrimination; no one lives a sheltered enough life not to. As a society we need to admit that discrimination is present at all times and stop being so sensitive to how we are labeled or perceived. Pretending discrimination does not exists does not solve a problem, it makes it stronger. Until it is no big deal in the eyes of all involved it will still be an issue that no one is truly prepared to tackle due to the amount of hate that will then be heaped upon them. Dr. King’s example is also a tragic one, a man who preached love for all, equality for all, and a sense of the brotherhood of man, was gunned down by one man who didn’t agree with his views. So perhaps the individual approach will be the best for now as this shows us one man’s view changed a world and one man’s view ended a life.
There are many components that contribute to the homelessness in America. Neoliberalism and capitalism are very important contributors to discuss. Under these practices lies multiple factors that not only perpetuate, but also maintain homelessness. In a neoliberal era, there’s a shift of deregulating and privatizing public spheres/programs and move it under the authority of private and individual entities. This includes the lack of support and funding in access to affordable housing, employment, income, public health, and other public assistance. Neoliberalism, poverty, and capitalism has play a key role in sustaining the unequal distribution of wealth and resources among people, which has resulted folks in losing their sense of self.
Another thing about discrimination is how people use stereotypes –the way people look- against them, such as certain religions have to wear a certain type of clothing e.g. turbans or burkas. These religions maybe Sikhs or Muslims and although most of them are perfectly harmless, a lot of people are scared of them due to the scares of the Taliban and bombings but these are all stereotypes put upon them by the societey. When in fact they are exactly like us; they are all human beings that deserve respect. And, although there will be bad people among them there are bad people everywhere so what’s the difference?
The bravery and leadership from one sole voice can unite the path to change. Nonetheless, not everyone has the guts to be the one to stand out and protest against the unjust, especially when they are up against an entire race of people. Human nature makes us very cautious and afraid to take risks when confronted with the possibility of failure along with its consequences. Therefore, it is the world community’s responsibility to interfere with cruelty of the prejudiced.
One social problem that has caught my attention is racial inequality. Racial inequality refers to the racial advantages and disadvantages among different races. These might be shown in the appropriation of riches, influence, and life openings stood with individuals in view of their race or ethnicity, both noteworthy and cutting edge. These can be viewed therefore of noteworthy abuse, imbalance of legacy, or general partiality, particularly against minority bunches. Race inequality is not a new issue, just an issue that has been swept under the rug. It was more of a problem during and after segregation, but is reportedly no longer exist.
The people who face discrimination become bitter, and angry which leads to fights, riots, sometimes even shootings witch is creating an unsafe and negative environments. People make movements to help end and aware the people the effects it has on them. According to Liza Lugo “When the seeds of hatred and ethnocentrism are planted and fostered in society, it negatively affects every area of life.” Racism creates a negative and unsafe feeling environment for the people which causes environmental issues.
How would it feel if you woke up each day fearing for your life, just because of the pigment of your skin or the irrelevant opinion of someone who believes they are superior. since ancient times, Discrimination has been a great issue in our society, it’s always been, and probably will continue to be in the near future. Now that the discrimination among officers have been in the spotlight, the fact that they’re not getting proper punishments are allowing a great amount of people to realize that This is a serious issue; and innocent individuals are losing their lives from the careless opinions of others. However, this is consistently changing depending upon the area in which it occurs in.
Education plays a key role in the development of one’s character and future achievements. The importance of education has elevated in numerous ways over time. The higher an education a person receives is expected to give an individual a better occupation and therefore result in more earned money by that individual. Human desires have led to the great want to achieve the best education in order to ensure that more then just the basic needs and wants are met by that individual, whether it is for themselves or for those that are dependent upon them. Hence the best education one can receive will contribute to the fulfillment of their desires and wants. In recent years the internet has played quite a major part in education. The internet has become almost more significant in the classroom then a piece of paper and a pencil, to a class. It has become more then just a resourceful tool for finding information it has become a means of a must have item. Such dependence is very detrimental to the educational process for although the internet seems to be everywhere, there are still many people, willing to learn, who lack such a resource.
In the world today, racism and discrimination is one of the major issues being faced with. Racism has existed throughout the world for centuries and has been the primary reasons for wars, conflicts, and other human calamities all over the planet. It has been a part of America since the European colonization of North America beginning in the 17th century. Many people are not aware of how much racism still exist in our schools, workforces, and anywhere else that social lives are occurring. It started from slavery in America to caste partiality in India, down to the Holocaust in Europe during World War II.
Social class discrimination is a negative attitude towards people based on their social or economic class. It is both discriminatory and unfair to people from particular classes and beneficial to the upper class. Social class discrimination has tremendous negative effects on the discriminated classes. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every individual to take some actions to fix this problem.
Once hormones have revealed themselves, children turn into confused young adults that think they can do everything by themselves and that there will no longer be any need for nurturing from adults. The word “young” from “young adults” is what teenagers completely ignore, when actually they should do the opposite and ignore the “adults” part. Furthermore, this causes infliction between teenagers and adults, especially their parents. Once they have the courage to say “no” with consciousness to what they are ordered to do, they come across a feeling, a feeling of being big and powerful. Because of that, teenagers then only focus on their new discovery of rebelling against adults and are, metaphorically speaking, injected with ego.
In an ideal world, it would be so simple to get rid of all inequality and discrimination in the world. However, it is not as simple as saying “we need better leaders.” There are so many things to consider before anything changes. Even today, these issues are still around and it seems as if it is a cycle that will never
From as young as grade school, kids are worried about being socially accepted. The trend these days is to be the bully or be bullied. This is most common in schools. According to Jay Foster, author of The Social Nature of Bullying, “Both genders may be bullies, but their techniques vary. Girls tend to be more verbally abusive, while boys more often use physical intimidation.” Classmates will often bully one another often because of their height, weight, disability, sexual orientation, or even clothing. If one person sees another person pick on someone, that person may think it is funny and will make themselves look “cool.” They think that by them bullying someone else, they won’t get bullied themselves and that bullying will make them feel much better
