Explain what the phrase “taking ownership of your learning” means to you.
I believe the phrase , “taking ownership of your learning” refers to being responsible for your learning and everything related to it. This means recognizing that you are responsible for how well you do in a course, submitting assignments on time, doing exams or quizzes, and participating in all required school activities. When you take ownership of your learning you actively pursuing and taking the necessary steps to ensure that you learn.

Getting this degree will help me broaden on my knowledge in the field of computer science which will make me a better worker when I begin my career.
• Pushes him/herself to think deeper about issues and draw connections to their personal, academic, and professional lives.
When I am doing my work I always push myself to think deeper , I like to make connections to situations and things that Ive seen and experienced. Because I am a more kinesthetic and visual learner, Ive noticed that doing this benefits me a lot. For instance, If I have to try to learn a formula in physics or math I make a funny riddle out of the formula to help me remember it or If I am trying to remember the parts of a computer and its role I would relate the parts to that of a human so I can easily remember what sort of role each part has.
• Views the instructor as a guide, but themselves as the pursuer of deeper

Group work is good because it teaches me communication skills and patience. When you work with peers you also get to see different views of different subjects which really helps you to think more about what we have learnt. When I read the responses in the discussion forums of my peers sometimes I am blown away by how different individuals think and see things. Working with peers forces you to think harder and work hard. Good competition is great for the learning environment.
• Seeks out the available resources and understands the scope of the University, its departments, and its learning philosophy and approach.
The first thing I did when I joined Uo People was to read the catalog , code of conduct and all the general and helpful information that was provided. This has been very helpful because having not read it , I would not no the importance of registering courses on time, the rules, etc. I still continue to read all the new information added through out my course so that I ensure that I am aware of everything going on in the university. I also learned a lot about why the university has certain strict requirements and their importance and benefit to me as a student.
• Understands the importance of applying the knowledge learned in the classroom to continued personal and career development
Matthew L. Sanders discusses the necessity of taking responsibility for one’s own education in a section of his book Becoming a Learner: Realizing the Opportunity of Education. In this section, Sanders explains how he initially blamed an instructor for not teaching him sufficiently and then learned that “No matter what kind of teacher you have, no matter what kind of class you are taking, if you are a learner you will set out to understand the material and create opportunities for success.” This statement is true and the concept can be applied through many methods to create success for students if they are willing to put forth effort.
I have worked with groups ALOT, I am an Avid student so every Tuesday and Thursday we break into to small groups and to tutorials. On Friday we do team building and get together with the other class and play games talk about certain things. I work in groups every day in almost all of my classes. I can work with anyone even if we aren't the closest of
students have the knowledge and skills that are needed to succeed in college, career, and
Normally in a group, the work will be divided into the number of members in the group and may be arranged to each of the members to receive the part where they are more confident and have more knowledge of it. In addition, if a member is confused with their work, he can receive assistance from his teammates rather than just being alone and figure it himself independently. However, I believe sometimes been in a group can have its cons. A common pitfall associated with working as a group is disagreement about the way something is being done, a particular issue, or an opinion. Sometimes one member might have his own beliefs and want to perform a task in their way and conflict can arise from this. Once conflict arises, the members can discuss their own opinions and might arrive to a solution, but this can cause a member to not show their full potential because something was not done the way they wanted. I believe this is very common but if you are open minded, it can be overcome for the sake of the team to be
Teachers help us expand and open our mind by giving us skills throughout students’ early life to help students when they are older. By learning information from teachers, students become better people, in a couple of ways. Besides inquiring knowledge from their teachers, students learn to work with one another, open their mind to other peoples’ thoughts and ideas, respect one another, and learn different techniques for life’s issues.
If you are studying together it is very helpful, and you will get a lot done. Also, with a group mind, if you are doing a project for work/school there is always somebody there to look over your work, just in case you mess up. Then, if you are doing a project with some a lot of calculations, having a group is very helpful. In case you mess up or just do not see a mistake you made on a calculation and correct it, so you do not have to get some points taken off for getting it wrong. There are pros and cons to this subject matter, but I think the cons outweigh the pros.
... that areas of expertise can be exploited, different people are good at different things. Groups can discuss material, and that discussion can improve the quality of the decision. Groups are less likely to suffer from judgmental biases that individuals have when they make decisions. People are more likely to follow through on decisions made by groups that they are connected to. Also, more monumental decisions can be made in groups, because one member will not be singled out for blame, making the entire group responsible.
Has anyone ever walked into a classroom and saw all the desks smashed together and got that annoying feeling knowing you would be working in groups with no one you knew that day? I know I have. People can view group work as a bad thing because they either do all the work by themselves or get none of it done because everyone else is socializing. With these suggestions in mind, I am against the idea of working within a group. Group projects are very stressful, and do not benefit most groups because some people within them are uncooperative causing no work to get done and end results in a bad grade. Therefore, group projects are not beneficial because they lack one of the main reasons people receive a project- education.
In a society where kids must go to school up to the collegiate level, teaching is an impactful career choice. Teachers help contour the minds of future leaders of the world. Furthermore, teachers play a crucial role in guiding students to the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to succeed in life, and teachers lead students to make informed decisions on any topic the meet in the future. As a teacher, a person must relinquish their knowledge onto students. Finally, they must prepare their students for all the obstacles they will face later in life.
My personal reflection begins with explaining my understanding of adult education and assumptions about learning in our society. Why I became motivated to continue education after high school and what sparked my interest in becoming an educator.
Knowles, Holton, and Swanson talk about forms of Andragogy. The main is The Learner's Need to Know, which represents the understanding of knowing how and why to make an important lesson, criticism from reflection could allow the learner to move to-wards new learning while understanding that learning is a continuous process. The second is The Learner's Self-Concept obliges a change in conduct (directed toward oneself), creating a re-quirement for self-control, structure for advancement toward oneself, and immediate self learn-ing. The following is The Role of the Learner's Experience with adult encounters. Adults need to use what they know and need to be recognized for having that information.
Building self-esteem, enhancing student satisfaction with the learning experience, and promoting a positive attitude toward the subject matter are all benefits of collaborative learning. A higher degree of accomplishment takes place as a group because you essentially are a team. An example of this is a sports team. In a collaborative situation it takes every member to do his or her part in order for a situation to have a greater resolution; as where a sports team needs everybody’s individual talent to win a game. In retrospect, as a group; the contributions of our own talents can make the difference between a “win or Lose situation” it gives you a sense of competition, and knowing that you can win as a group; self esteem in one’s self is accentuated. Johnson and Johnson (1989), Slavin (1967). Another benefit to collaborative learning is based on the members of your group. Every individual in the group demonstrates their own input based on where they were born, what nationality they are so on and so on. The benefit of this is that you get a different perspective on things rather than always knowing what you know. You can take information from other cultures and add or apply it to what you already know.
Getting to hang out and talk to them is already fun, but this way you get your work done and still get to have a great time with your friends. Most projects are really boring, but this way you would want to do the project. The second best thing about group projects is not having to do as much work. When you have to do a project by yourself, then you would have to do all the research and writing, but if you’re in a group then you only have to do a few things.
Each and every member of the education system must have buy-in and take ownership in that system. With ownership comes the responsibility to identify shortcoming of that system and continually evolve it to make it better. Educators must take ownership in their students because they are the customers. A student’s failure or success is a reflection of their teachers so it is imperative that the student succeeds.
Many times people forget that teamwork is a combination of the words TEAM and WORK. Which means it takes more than a combined group of people or a team, but it takes that and actions. Positivity, effective skills and effort from each group member. A good team member does their share of work in the group. equity and fairness are key in being a good team member also. A few other characteristics that help a group be successful are , positivity, complimenting other members, communication skills and fairness. By fairness I mean allowing everyone the chance to do something. This group project taught me the ability to be a team player. This is a skill needed to be successful in a group. I feel like it benefit me and my group members because normally
