I have faced obstacles in my life such as my parent’s divorce, a death in the family, and mental obstacles. When my parents were still together they both pushed me to be a better me but since the divorce I have found that I decide my success and I can push myself to become better. Their divorce has made me independent and this will help me in college, because independence is what college is all about. Since starting college, I have noticed that I have become more independent. This has helped me and will continue to help me throughout college and even after college. I recently lost both of my great grandparents and that also took a huge toll on me. I use my hard work ethic to push through the tough homework assignments or study for those important tests. I feel my work ethic is reflected in my above average grades. I also use my work ethic in my job which will help me pay for my college, therefore making me more successful. I used to struggle with self-esteem issues and low confidence and it even got to the point where it was affecting my school work. I used to be afraid of being called on by the teacher or reading in front of my classmates in fear that I would mess up or do something wrong. I have overcome my low confidence and self-esteem issues, although it wasn’t an easy task. I had to step out of my comfort zone big time in order to overcome this obstacle. I would volunteer myself for reading out loud or I would raise my hand to be called on. At first, I was ridiculed like I feared but I slowly started to care less about it. I slowly started to care more about my education, instead of being bullied for making a mistake. Overcoming my mental obstacles has helped me enormously in college because it allows me to be in more challenging classes without being in fear of messing

I have faced many obstacles along the way. I did not do so good my freshman year in college. My grades were not what I wanted them to be. However, I retook some classes to raise my grades and I am trying hard to be the best student as possible.
I had to learn to adjust life without my sibling because my mom did not have enough money for them to be with us and adapt to a new culture. During this my mother and I ended up homeless during the winter months, this was the most brutal and embarrassing time of our life. In my teenage life I have overcome many obstacles; Even though we were living in poverty my mother had high expectation for her children and graduating from high school was just the beginning unfortunately I stumble again, I failed my Math Regent and did not graduate but I was determined not to be discouraged .
As to be expected, I like anyone else, faced challenges at home that tested my academic abilities. In dealing with the emotional abuse of an alcoholic-bipolar mother, I persevered and did everything I could to prove I was better than the mother who was raising me.
Most people tend to let ones anxiety control him, their fears scare them and obstacles get in their way. If one lets this get in his way, then there’s no possible way that he will be able to overcome his obstacles. For example, a great artist named Phil Hansen had been diagnosed with nerve damage and he let his obstacles get in his way of creating art. In addition to this, a journalist named James Collier suffered of anxiety and he let his anxiety control him. Hansen had to embrace his shake, Collier overcame his anxiety and I had to overcome anxiety at a certain point in my life as well. Having that said, overcoming obstacles will allow one to surpass his.
As a child my parents worried about my educational development. They didn’t know if I was going to be able to keep up with the other children. I was in the third grade and didn’t know any English. I struggled academically my remaining elementary years to catch up to the other children, but it wasn’t long until I exceeded my peers in middle school.
In life, people will always have something to say about you in everything one does in life, either negative or positive, but it’s the moment when you let what is said upon you affect the way you live your life, that when its becomes a problem. I for myself have been victim of so many people saying things about me and letting get into my head, but I had the courage to overcome a lot of obstacles like that. I have struggled with a lot of obstacles in my life some got the better of me while I have been able to overcome most of them. I am writing this essay to give an example of an obstacle which I struggled with for a very long time and I nearly took the best of me, but with time I was able to overcome it.
In life we all face obstacles. The troubles that we face don’t define us, how we overcome the situation is what makes us the people we are today. Overcoming Obstacles Throughout a persons life, they are faced with different obstacles, and different challenges of all different types. My life in particular has been full of ups and downs, especially towards my soccer career. In the novel The Pact, three boys, George, Rameck, and Sam, are faced with many obstacles throughout their lives, where they must learn to overcome and achieve great success on their own will power. Essentially, I did the same thing. My soccer career has been one of my most difficult life challenges, creating the person I am today.
Have you ever wondered if there could possibly be overwhelming obstacles in the way of someone being truly successful in life? Some may witness friends or loved ones not developing to their fullest potential in their profession because of these unobtainable obstacles holding them back. In “Professions for Women,” by Virginia Woolf, Woolf gives a speech to a group of women explaining why they must overcome certain things in order to be successful in their future professional careers. In speaking to this group of determined young women, Woolf explains how horrendous it may be to have your own thoughts or beliefs while living in a society said to be dominated by males. She
These obstacles motivated me at a young age, and I was disciplined to not give up. Also, I was taught if I needed help, then it was okay to ask others for guidance. My brother and I had been accepted into great universities, and we both have done great for ourselves because of the motivation we carried throughout our lives. Generally speaking, with both of us being first-generation students, this had taught us to motivate ourselves and be the best. There are some weaknesses that come with being a first-generation student; nonetheless, with those weaknesses comes a great deal of strengths.
When growing up I was fortunate enough to have my great-grandparents on my moms side. My great-grandparents are everything to me. I spent most of my childhood at their house on the farm. Our days would be filled with excitement even if everything we planned went wrong. I spent everyday either baking a cake with my Nana or riding the tractor with my Pawpaw.
My struggle with self-confidence started after I lost my father. It was difficult for me to see another replacing image like the relationship I had with him. I had a very hard time in Nigeria and I lacked self-confidence in affronting new challenges. My first approach or look was to see them as a strong obstacle to overcome. Then, my only reliance was my studies and I had to register with the debate club and drama society. Based on what Hardwick (1990) suggested, that one attracts good stuff in life if he/she is able to cram more confidence in heart, I felt it is necessary to dedicate my time in these activities.
