Modes of Communication and the Virtual Elements of an organization can change the way employees interact and form teams. The artifacts of an organization will set the blue print for what the company represents, the corpoarate culture. The company I work for is a healthcare provider that has been in business for a long time. Its name, products, and services are highly recognizable in the healthcare industry. Aetna is made up of several locations world wide. Aetna actively staffs registered nurses, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, claims processors, and customer service representatives. With recent emphasis on healthcare and drug manufacturers, it is very important to maintain a positive standing with the public. Healthcare is a constant topic of debate among government, insurers, and healthcare subscribers. “Healthcare organizations must focus greater attention on making patient care a more memorable experience for their customers if they are to be successful in today's changing marketplace,” (Highbeam Rearch) “Even a procedure such as a colonoscopy provides the opportunity to stage an experience for patients that engages them in a personal way, from registration through admission to the time of discharge. Today, more consumers are paying for the experience, not just the good or service itself.” Now, let’s explore the dynamics within the organization that makes our company successful. Humans now work in an isolated workplace; we are a part of an economy with worldwide competition generating from all corners of the world. Diversity is needed within profit and nonprofit companies in order to be more effective; these companies must welcome change and adjustments. Diverse employees and environments will help companies to become more creative and successful. Due to the increasing financial implications, patient satisfaction has become a growing priority for health care organizations, as well as transitioning the health care organization’s philosophy about the delivery of health care (Murphy, 2014). This CMS value based purchasing initiative has created a paradigm shift in health care in which leaders and clinicians must focus on patient centered care and the patient experience which ultimately will result in better outcomes. Leaders and clinicians alike must be committed to the patient satisfaction. As leaders within the organization, these groups must be role models and lead by example for front-line staff. Ultimately, if patients are satisfied, they are more likely to be compliant with their treatment plans and continue to seek follow up care with their health care provider, which will result in decreased lengths of stay, decreased readmissions, increased referrals and decreased costs (Murphy, 2014). One strategy employed by health care leaders to capture the patient experience, is purp...
The current health care landscape has been characterized by large scale consolidation and vertical integration of payers and providers. This has led to a handful of dominate players with substantial influence, and an increasing overlap in responsibilities between payers and providers. Although payers and providers have traditionally been on opposing sides, battling each other about quality of care versus cost-effective care, they are shifting to working together to achieve better value.
This helps provide an attitude of wanting to be the best hospital around and we should strive every day to prove that. One way to start achieving this is too have an area in the hospital dedicated to recognizing outstanding employees for that month or quarter to create a since of pride and competiveness within your employees. Share with your employees how many patients they are caring for in comparison with other hospital in the area. Create a culture where the employees know that they are the better choice to come to for patient care. This will create “long-term market position and uniqueness that is not easily duplicable by rivals” (Burns, Bradley, &Weiner,
Porter, M.E., (2010). What is the value in healthcare? New England Journal of Medicine. 363:2477-2481
The balance between quality patient care and medical necessity is a top priority and the main concern of many of the healthcare organizations today. Due to the rising cost of healthcare, there has been a change in the focus of reimbursement strategies that are affecting the delivery of patient care. This shift from a fee-for-service towards a value-based system creates a challenge that has shifted many providers’ focus more directly on their revenue. As a result, organizations are forced to take a hard look at the cost of services they are providing patients and then determining if the services and level of care are appropriate for the prescribed patient care.
In order for an organization to maintain and grow in the face of the inevitable changes that occur in the health care industry, there must be a solid structure that holds and

Healthcare organizations are designed to meet the healthcare needs of individuals and promote a healthy community. The three healthcare organizations that interest me are: The Heart Hospital Baylor of Plano, Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery Plan, and Parkland Health and Hospital System. Due to evolving healthcare industry, focusing on just patients and physicians is no longer a marketing strategy. According to Mycek (2015), “Marketing teams need to expand their consideration set and focus on the new 5 P’s of Healthcare Marketing” (p. 1). The new 5 P’s of marketing now impact the marketing potential of healthcare organizations by offering changes in sales rep – physician access, purchasing, formulary decision making, and growing patient empowerment. The new 5 P’s of marketing are: Physicians, Patients, Payers, Public, and The Presence of Politics.
Competitive advantage matters greatly to those responsible for the management of healthcare institutions. Together with rapidly escalating healthcare costs, increasingly complex medical technologies, and growing regulatory and legal pressures, healthcare organizations face a critical need to improve the quality of care at reduced costs (Cu...
When asked to state the primary goal of his business, Dr. Slez cited “high quality health care service” as the firm’s main objective. The effective treatment of, and development of trust with, the practice’s patients, Dr. Slez continued, takes precedence over profits. Indeed, if all healthcare firms placed profits above patient care (and many do) we would be far worse off. While doing what is needed to stop the spread of a disease or alleviate pain may not always be the most cost effective approach, it is the approach demanded by the government and general public. This is not to say that Dr. Slez’s firm does not try to maximize profit. The f...
Improving healthcare is a long, time-consuming process. The most important phase is knowing what the glitches are and then finding a small step to improve them. The only way to successfully change our health care system is small step by small step. A problem in today’s healthcare is that patient’s want and need their medical staff to hold value and accountability in their care but they don’t know the fine lines of what these requirements actually are. Porter (2010) defines value “as the health outcomes achieved per dollar spent” (p.2477). Patients need to be aware of this definition and they need to be deciding exactly how many of these health outcomes they are personally

The researcher believes, in this fast-changing era, any kind of company or organization should be able to improve the quality of workplace diversity by having some important main factor to boost the new paradigm of a diverse workplace, such as:
Organizational behavior is the study of the many factors that have an impact on how people and groups act, think, feel, and respond to work and organizations and how organizations respond to their environments. (George & Jones, 2005) Organizational behavior is particularly important to managers, who are responsible for supervising the activities of one of more employees.
