I enjoy being productive. Since the age of twelve, I’ve bounced from one job to the next, seizing any offer that came my way. I have gained many skills from working at a myriad of jobs; radio DJing, working with a contractor and website designing, just to name a few. These experiences gave me the footing for my next project. I had considered starting this business for a while and after working in a multitude of fields, I finally had the confidence to make it a reality. Every summer I would work for someone but this time, going into 12th grade, I wanted to be my own man. I launched my business, “The Odd Jobz Crew,” at the end of spring. As the name suggests, we did odd jobs around Passaic. I plastered ads all over town and hung up lists of potential jobs we were capable of - such as moving apartments, fixing things, clearing out garages and assembling furniture. All of my workers were part time and I would hire them as needed. …show more content…
This, however, did not stop me from thinking about how to improve and expand the OJC come next summer. One thing was certain: the marketing needed to be brought to the next level. My target market was the Jewish community of Passaic, so I had a clear idea of what the average citizen was exposed to on a daily basis. In the local supermarket, I worked out a deal to have our ads distributed to every shopper. I also placed 4”x6” business cards in the kosher restaurants - in addition to the flyers I already had hanging. Within a month, there wasn’t a single member of the Passaic Jewish population who hadn’t heard of the OJC. But we needed more than awareness: we needed trust. To build trust with the community, after each job I thanked the customer and requested, if they enjoyed our services, to review us on the community Facebook group. This last move is what really took the business to another
It is safe to say that work comes in many different forms. Whether it be a fast food or a corporate, the people that surround an individual make a great impact on the way he or she may work. Singapore, by Mary Oliver, is about a young woman working as a custodian in an airport who although works alone, enjoys her work and the people she meets. Dorianne Laux’s What I Wouldn’t Do, introduces another young woman reviewing the jobs she has had throughout time and reflects on those that she liked and disliked. Hard Work, by Stephen Dunn, exemplifies a young boy working in a soda factory during his summer break. Searching for happiness in life and work is just what these individuals are doing.

If your thinking of starting your own business, try starting you own porno site. With millions of users daily the Internet is an entrepreneur's paradise. A subscriber’s list of five thousand people with a monthly fee of $3.99 will generate over 200,000.00 a year in profits. With the profit potential so high it’s no wonder why the industry has grown to be so big. The dollar signs are not all that encourage participation in this industry. The thought of working from home and making your own hours are one of many fringe benefits. Having to only update your site once a week leaves a lot of room for time off. Of course, the pornography industry doesn’t stop with...

After I earn a degree in business, I plan to work for a company where I will gain experience until I am ready to start my own business. Even though I haven’t narrowed down what field I want my business to serve, I know I want to pursue ownership when I am ready. Being the boss matters. The difference between me owning my own business and having to work for somebody is that I will be more committed and even with long hours, I know that it will be worth it to build something of my own. Making my own decisions and taking my own risks is different from working for someone like my family does now. It will mean long, hard hours, but I will have something to be proud of instead of just living from paycheck to
What is your number one source of new business and how do you get it?
In order to gain an understanding of independence and responsibility, I have held summer jobs in the preceding three years. I also worked to help myself financially in boarding school, insurance, a car, everyday necessities, and soon in college. My first summer job was at the Moonlite Drive In Theater.
The only thing that interests me in the business field I maybe opening a store of some type. Maybe a restaurant or sports store. I probably won't look into anything like this until I have retired from the career that I choose. Things like this can always just be done with. Like run out of money, no business, or fire. Little things like that could ruin the ruin of your life and I don't want anything like that until I am secure with money and don't have to worry.
We moved heavy furniture around, organized files, and answered simple questions for customers. Additionally, my dad started to notice my growing interest and talent in working with computers and used this skill for the business--I learned to use Microsoft Excel at the age of 12 and so that I could log inventory and draft work orders. By the time I was in high school, I was independently placing orders, talking to customers, and training new employees for the growing business. What I didn’t realize at the time was that growing up in my dad’s work environment gave me a business-oriented mindset, and this became most evident when I came up with the idea to create a web store to further promote my father’s
I was only seventeen when I started working. I live in a very small city that is downtown full of different stores. During the summer times, most of the stores downtown would post job listings looking for young individuals who wanted to work during the summer season. I decided that I wanted to gain some work experience and decided to apply to one of the stores. The store I worked in was called Kid City.
I was able to accomplish one of the goals that I had set for this project. I decided that I do not want to enter the real estate business. If I could change A few things about what I did, I would choose to learn more about running a business. My uncle owns both Atova real estate, and Grinkers arcade, but unfortunately, I was not able to job shadow him. He is very busy running those businesses, and whenever my grandfather and I were at Atova, he was not available.

When it comes to business, especially when it comes to starting one, I tend to think I know it all. Yet in reality, I don't really even know how to get started, enough to make a business efficient, or even get the doors open enough to make the first dollar. When I first think of working/operating a business, I think of no boss but myself, the rules are made by me and no one else, and that seems like a great plan in my eyes. As well as having all company profit coming directly to me, and I get to decide what happens with it. Although I know there is more to it than that, there is forming a budget, working with customers, knowing when to expand, and when to coast through. I also know that in the world of business, that if you aren't moving ahead, you are moving backwards.
I was always taught that if I ever want to own my own business that I needed to be dedicated to my business, skills I have that will help yours truly and love doing. I have thought about what business I want to start for a long time then it came to myself. I want to create a business that I can expand so it can grow into my vision. “See things in the present, even if they are in the future.” Said by Larry Ellison, Oracle co-founder. I continue planning details ahead so that I know where I’m going to proceed. My business will be a limit liability company called “True Love.”
1. WHY? Develop your "why". As an entrepreneur, not all times you have in business will be perfect. In fact, there will be many, many difficulties along the way. However, if you can develop your why, you can achieve success. Your why must be this personal, passionate, emotional drive that keeps you going, when the world tells you to give up. It is the reason you commit and work so hard. Pushing on when it seems all the odds and world is against you. Your "why" becomes your driving will to wake up and do it again tomorrow.
