In the graphic novel Daytripper by Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá, the story of Brás de Olivia Domingos is told. Brás is depicted as a simple man with a job writing obituaries. Throughout the tale, Brás falls in love, out of love, and back in love again. The story may sound quite formulaic and unoriginal, however, there is a twist. As Brás repeatedly dies at the end of every chapter, with different ages and causes, the book never has a dull moment. This fiction is much better told in the form of a graphic novel as there are aspects of the comic book that a normal novel lacks. These obituaries also often speculate as to what could have become of Brás’ life if he had not died at this point in time, and then more times than not the idea came to fruition in a later chapter. This occurred at the end of the first chapter as the narrator, Brás de Olivia Domingos himself, theorized that the deceased would have become just as respected a writer as his father if he had not passed. Another similar instance was when the star crossed lover was hit by a truck during an attempt where he had seen a woman that he believed could be the love of his life. At this point in the story, Brás had only just seen her for the first time, however, his obituary foreshadows that he was searching for love. On a similar note to love, Brás is also described as dying for friendship after falling into a trap where his long lost friend, Jorge, stabs him to death and then ends his own life. At the completion of another chapter, the son suffers the same ailment as his father that causes his ultimate demise.
