Hook: I am not apologizing for my mistake when I never had one. “Philip this is your chance to apologize” said the vice principal. No!! I won’t. Okay then I don’t have any choice I have to give you a suspension, do you think Philip I should call your mom or your dad??Said the vice principal again. Gist: This story “Nothing But The Truth” by AVI is based on a student from the ninth grade and his English teacher of his high school having a conflict in between. This problem arises due the misunderstanding between Philip, his parents and his English teacher Miss.Narwin, the Malloy’s have been making this situation ordeal and because of this a small problem has been turned into big fuss saying that Philip has been blamed for being Patriotic by singing …show more content…
the national anthem, ‘The Star Spangled Banner’. Thesis: There were many, mistakes made by the adults in Philips life, but the blame for the rising problem between Philip and Miss.Narwin, I personally think that this is because of Philip and his parents; Miss.Narwin was also a bit wrong for exasperating the devastating event and also not telling the media about the problem when she had so much of opportunity to do so. Also, Philip and his parents took this problem in a very serious way and making it an ordeal situation. Reason for the thesis: Mr.Malloy being a father never did talk to Miss.Narwin and cleared the situation but instead he took this problem in such a way that it arises into a big national problem. Also, Philip lets his parents believe that he was suspended for singing the National anthem, which was not the truth at all. Topic sentence to support thesis: Miss.Narwin thought that Philip was an amazing student and also talked about him with her sister Anita, but Philip thought the same in a different way from the very beginning. Supporting Detail: As on page 23 Philip says that “Its Miss.Narwin I keep trying her to like me but she’s so old-fashioned and boring”. Philip had a judgmental mind about Miss.Narwin from the very beginning and was never interested on her work. Evidence two to support thesis: I say that Philip is judgmental about Miss.Narwin because Philip was an amazing runner, and was working hard to get into the track team, when suddenly his coach Jamison calls him and tells him that “a ‘D’ will not work if you want to get into the track team. The “D” he got was from Miss.Narwins class as he performed badly on her quiz and got a “C”. This frustrated Philip, and really wanted to get out of Miss.Narwins class. Evidence three to support thesis: Due to this problem Philip was making a plan to get out of Miss.Narwins class, as on page 33, in a conversation between Philip and Ken Barchet, Phil say “I’ am going to get transferred out of both” Ken asks how and Malloy replies “I’m working on it” Barchet then states “Sure….Malloy Magic right?’’ to which Philip simply states “you’ll see.” Concluding sentence: Philip had a simple wish to get out of the class in which he was not really performing well, he instead twists the truth to make himself look good in his plan and Miss.Narwin look terrible as she had crushed Philips wish to get into the track team. Topic Sentence one to support Thesis: Mr. Malloy was a good father but as his work pressurized him, he couldn’t really focus on what Philip was doing and what he was going through. Supporting Detail: On page 8 from Philips Diary, Phil writes “Mom and Dad have been arguing lately”, “Dad says that his business is in a cash flow squeeze”. This shows us that Mr. Malloy was reluctantly focusing on what Philip was doing. Topic sentence two to support Thesis: I say that Mr. Malloy was reluctantly focusing on what Philip was doing because at Mr. Malloy’s work he had recently been under pressure and had been struggling with his boss over a “botched job”, in page 23 and 24 Mr. Malloy says “Mr. Dexter, what I am simply trying to explain is that I wasn’t given all the information that would allow me” His boss Dexter had cut him off- and he says “I don’t want to hear excuses Ben, I want someone around here to accept the responsibility…” Topic sentence three to support thesis: As Mr. Malloy was hassled due to the job he was doing, something happens during a conversation between Philip and his parents during dinner. Philip says, “That’s what I am trying to say”, “That’s not fair” exclaimed Mr. Malloy. “The National Anthem- ‘The Star Spangled Banner’, is that what you’re talking about? Asks Mr.Malloy, “Yeah” Philip says behind which Mr. Malloy simply changes the topic and asks for more food. After seeing this Philip simply walks out as he thinks that his dad is not paying attention in him. Mrs. Malloy then gets frustrated and says “…. He needs your support” into which Mr. Malloy plainly says “My day wasn’t so great either”. Concluding Sentence: Mr. Malloy was a good parent but due to his work he intends not to really focus on what Philip was doing. Instead of talking to Miss.Narwin and making sure what the problem was, Mr. Malloy supports his son and teaches him to stand up for himself as Mr.Malloy couldn’t speak up for himself at his work. Due to this egoistic act the conflict begins. Paragraph three to support thesis: Undoubtedly Philip and his father, Mr. Malloy does carry the blame for the rising national problem but the truth is that Miss.Narwin also has some mistakes. Her being to loyal, gentle and nice were one of them. She had so much of opportunity to tell the media about the truth but then she rejected to tell them about it. Evidence: Journalist, Jennifer Stewart, who tossed a minor town problem into a national one, gave Miss.Narwin a chance to express her side of the story but as Miss.Narwin was muddled and tensed, she refused to do so, after seeing this Jennifer started supporting the Malloy’s more. On page 94 and 95 Stewart says “Now as I understand it, the boy was dismissed from your class, and then suspended from school because he says it’s a question of patriotism with him- he sang “The Star Spangled Banner” during open exercise in school in your class. Could you shed some light? Narwin then says “We have a rule” Stewart states “Your superintendent, Dr.Seymour, says that there is no rule” then again Narwin says “I don’t think I should be talking about this”. While Miss.Narwin had so much of opportunity to tell her side of story, she doesn’t give her side and hides it. Now the reporter does not believe of what Narwin is saying as she refuses to tell the truth. Evidence 2: As the Principal and the school board was not supporting on what Miss.Narwin was doing she was sad and sickened, instead of talking for her side she admits to stay quiet and lets the community talk about her. On page 162 Dr.Doane says “There is only one thing Peg” Narwin then replies “the deadline?” then again Dr.Doane replies “No, it’s not that Peg, knowing how upsetting this all is, the superintendent wants you to take the rest of the term off”, “What?” Narwin exclaims and simply Dr.Doane replies “The rest of the term”. Evidence 3: This situation had already been worldwide and apparently had been in the show of Jake Barlow, this show had been consistently talking about Miss.Narwin. Instead of staying quiet Narwin could have talked for herself. As an alternative she lets the media take over the wrong information and let’s herself get into a wrong blemish. Conclusion: When having so much of opportunity Miss.Narwin intends not to tell the media her side of story as she thinks that the school board was not supporting her.
Yet, she was a really good teacher but as people started saying wrong about her and started to make a fuss out of the problem by not knowing the truth, Miss.Narwin desires to be quiet and not tell anybody her part of stop along with that she blemishes through the dark. Acknowledge and Refute: Topic Sentence in a positive way: Many people think that Miss.Narwin was a bad teacher as her style of teaching was old fashioned and was boring, as per nowadays students are more likely engaged into a technologic study. Well, people might also say that Miss.Narwin was mean and was not cool at all. Argue: But the statements from the Novel are the exact opposite. Evidence from the book: As the situation was hard to handle, Dr.Doane was vague on what the truth was, as on page 125 Doane calls one of the students from Narwins homeroom to clarify the truth, Cyntian Gambia says “Miss Narwin did ask him to stop. You’re supposed to be quiet. Everybody says that’s the rule. He certainly wasn’t. She’s a fair teacher. All the kids say so.” On page 166, in a phone conversation between Miss.Narwin and a reporter, Rebert Duval, Robert say “...For instance, at one point, Dr.Doane- your principal- told me you were one of
the District’s best teachers. Miss.Narwin replies “Did she?” again Robert says” Yes, ma’am. She did.”Also on page 148 Allison Doresett calls Philip and tells his that “Narwin is one of the best teachers. All the kids say so. You were just doing that to annoy her.” Concluding Sentence: All the statement and the evidences prove that Miss.Narwin is a really good teacher and is fair to everybody. The only scholar who did not like Miss.Narwin was Philip and was creating a big problem. Though, Philip didn’t respect Miss.Narwin, she never gave up until the end and was also not happy for Philips suspension.

While Dorine’s voice stands out more than the others, she is not the only character that uses reason. Cleante’s character for example, is very reasonable and well educated. In fact most would recognize him as the voice of reason, but his advice often comes across as a boring lecture. The reader can easily become lost in his drawn out pleas for Orgon to see the truth about Tartuffe. Elmire’s character also has control over her emotions, but her character does not speak out against irrationality as strongly as Dorine’...
In conclusion, details involving the characters and symbolic meanings to objects are the factors that make the novel better than the movie. Leaving out aspects of the novel limits the viewer’s appreciation for the story. One may favor the film over the novel or vice versa, but that person will not overlook the intense work that went into the making of both. The film and novel have their similarities and differences, but both effectively communicate their meaning to the public.
First, their was a big conflict inside the class room. Mr. Crawford was asking one of the students a question, and Jamal jumped in the conversation. Jamal was trying to help him out, so he told the boy to say his name, which was the answer to his question. Mr. Crawford was very angry. Mr. Crawford then tried to preach to Jamal by quoted some sayings. Mr. Crawford never got a chance to finish his sentence, because Jamal would finish them. Mr. Crawford then got mad. He then ordered Jamal to leave the class because he was embarrassed.
The Holocaust was a genocide that happened in Germany throughout the years of 1933-1945. The Germans and their supporters massively murdered many Jews to protect and reach their goal of having an Aryan race. The novel We Are Witnesses by Jacob Boas is a collection of four diaries written by the four children that were victims of the Holocaust. In this novel the themes found are fear, humanity, appreciation, and survival. A running story throughout the novel is the idea of people being good or evil. Humans are capable of being good but choose to follow evil and make the good suffer.
In conclusion, Dr. Blalock and Mrs. Kuznicki have similar and different mentoring style. Each style of guidance can influence the mentees. Dr. Blalock and Mrs. Kuznicki both criticize people with strong words when facing a mistake made by other people, they will acknowledge and compliment on the success that other people made. However, Dr. Blalock has short temper and do think mistake is a good way to learn. He almost sends Thomas away because of an incautious mistake Thomas made during a lab research. Different from Dr. Blalock’s impatient behavior, Mrs. Kuznicki think that mistake is a good way to learn. She taught me many things after I made a mistake during speech practices.
The book and the movie were both very good. The book took time to explain things like setting, people’s emotions, people’s traits, and important background information. There was no time for these explanations the movie. The book, however, had parts in the beginning where some readers could become flustered.
Morgan at PS. 142 about her 3rd grade class on Keller and Bandura in Context, it was learned that her 3rd grade class is at the stage were most of her students are very emotional. She mentioned to me that she has this one boy in her class that is struggling with self-esteem / self-efficacy. The boy who is in her class seems to be struggling with his self because he constantly uses hopeless language about his work. He also gets frustrated and angry when he is not able to complete a task. If the boy is working on a picture or work, he will lash out and say things like “I could never get this right” or things like “why can’t I be like … he is perfect”. What Ms. Morgan tends to do now, that seems to be working is that she makes sure that she praises the boy while he is working on a picture or work. She does this because she wants to help boost his confidence. Then she has another student that is a girl who self seems to be developing in a healthy way because she knows that everyone in the class are equal to her. This girl knows that she may not be the best at everything, however she knows it does not make her less worthy. Ms. Morgan referred to me that with students in her class she must just constantly make all of her students feel wanted and

For the spring term, the faculty made changes and Philip got assigned to Miss Narwin’s homeroom class. Things got worse when Philip was assigned to her homeroom as if being in her English class wasn’t bad enough. When Philip got back to school he found out he was assigned to counseling. Philip was furious and still wanted to get out of Miss Narwin’s English class.
The Minority Report by Philip K. Dick tells the story of a dystopia society that apropos the concept of a post-crime system called Precrime. This successful short story follows the protagonist, John A. Anderton, Precrime Commissioner, living in a futuristic society, Precrime police officers prevent homicides with the aid of precog mutants; precrime methodology has boldly and successfully abolished the post-crime system of jails and fines. However, Precrime has created an unfavorable recalcitrant idea: Citizens believe they are constantly under surveillance. Anderton: “We seldom get actual murder or treason. After all, the culprit knows we 'll confine him in the detention camp a week before he gets a chance to commit the crime.” Dick, Philip
