In the film Finding Forrester, their was a big conflict between Jamal and Mr. Crawford. Mr. Crawford and Jamal had their difference though out the film. Their were lots of problems that Mr. Crawford had against Jamal. The conflicts were based Jamal race, and his intelligence.
First, their was a big conflict inside the class room. Mr. Crawford was asking one of the students a question, and Jamal jumped in the conversation. Jamal was trying to help him out, so he told the boy to say his name, which was the answer to his question. Mr. Crawford was very angry. Mr. Crawford then tried to preach to Jamal by quoted some sayings. Mr. Crawford never got a chance to finish his sentence, because Jamal would finish them. Mr. Crawford then got mad. He then ordered Jamal to leave the class because he was embarrassed.
The second conflict between Jamal and Mr. Crawford was when Mr. Crawford didn’t believe that Jamal wrote a paper that he was assigned to write . Mr. Crawford told Jamal that he would have to write the whole paper over in his office. Even though Jamal was trying to convince Mr. Crawford that it was his paper, Mr. Crawford still didn’t believe him. Jamal did the essay anyway.
The last conflict between Jamal and Mr. Crawford was when Mr. Crawford found out that Jamal had used William Forrester topic to his essay. Mr. Crawford then told Jamal that he had to write an apology letter and read it in front of the class. He also told him that he could just tell him if William Forrester gave him permission to use his title. Jamal refuse to tell them that he knew William, he also refuse to write the letter and read it out loud. Jamal told William about the two option that he was given and asked for his advice. William told him that he should apologize, but Jamal refused. Jamal then told William that he should come to the school and tell Mr. Crawford, William refused. Jamal told William that they had threaten to kick him out of school. William decided to show up to Jamal school. He read an essay that Jamal wrote. Mr. Crawford thought it was Williams writings, and begun to tell him how great the paper was. William then told Mr. Crawford that the paper was Jamal.

Moreover, Wideman ends up having difficulties trying to represents what his brother is “saying” because he ends up writing his own personal opinions and thoughts. Although it was something he was trying to avoid considering it would be a manipulation of the story. Throughout the essay, the reader can observe how Wideman analyzes his past experiences with Robby, and how their relationship has transformed over the years. For instance, the author conveys the bonds he had with his brother in order to express that after all this years they still shared “common history, values, and style developed within the tall stockade of family, and that was enough to make us care about each other” (Wideman 674). In addition, he tells the reader how he wanted Robby to know that he was thinking about “Our shared roots and destiny” (Wideman 674) and how that thinking was getting him closer to Robby.

As Malcolm changes throughout the story, his wordhoard and usage of various terms changes as well as the structure of sentences. From half-sentences to long blocks of text, Malcolm’s status also affected the style and structure of his writing; If Malcolm was in a party, the structure would consist of small half sentences as opposed to if Malcolm was telling scenery of a bar in which he would use long descriptive sentences of the setting. Summary: This story is about racism in the south and how it affects the people it concerns. It starts out with Jefferson being sentenced to death for a crime that he did not commit. He was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and because he was black, they assumed he did it. Grant Wiggins is told to go up to the jail and convince Jefferson that he is a man. At first he doesn’t know how to make Jefferson see that he is a man, but through visiting Jefferson, talking to Vivian and witnessing things around the community, he is able to reach Jefferson, convince him that he was a man.
Race is a huge issue in the film and many stereotypes are made. Jamal Wallace is introduced in the film as a typical black teenage male who goes to a low class school in the Bronx and really excels on the court as a basketball player. He always plays basketball with his friends in a parking lot. Jamal is dared to go into the apartment of a recluse who watches them play through binoculars. We can say that different people have their own hardship in their life. However, for Malcolm X, he came from minority group that being oppressed that for sure his life more miserable than us. The first issue is regarding his teacher. As a teacher, he should encourages his students to be what they want to be in the future without care about their races. In this world, we have same opportunity to become a success person. So, how can his teacher, demotivate Malcolm by saying all those things. His action of course disobey the teaching ettiquette and the most important thing is he devalues the dignity of others human being. By this action, I can say that status that someone had does not guarantee he or she should be respect until they showed the value of humanity in themselves first. They both still acted as if they were better than each other and they weren?t going to attempt to change this, even when they were playing football together. If something went wrong they would blame each other, or disagree, and always end up fighting and usually about different things, like who was better and right. By observing the friendship emerging between Gerry and Julius other people began to realize that having friends of a different race was not wrong. This also made Gerry and Julius?s friendship grow even stronger as they made a huge impact on the community. They started to understand each other and created a bond that was so strong that their appearance didn?t seem to matter anymore.
After his journey through the southern states, Griffin returns home to his family and he publishes an article about his journey in understanding both races. Though he hears praise from many around the world, he sees the hate from his own people. People call him names and even threaten to harm him. It also allows people to grasp an understanding on how life really was like for a black person in this era. Malcolm’s childhood is filled with trauma and heartache. His father is killed and his mother is eventually sent to a mental hospital. His siblings are split apart and he is sent to live with a white foster family. Throughout this misery, Malcolm remains ambitious, becoming class president and preserving his goal of becoming a lawyer. The anguish Malcolm suffers through in his younger years is the direct result of racism. It is disheartening to imagine such a young child go through so much pain because of his skin color. The text strikingly displays this heartache Malcolm combats and how he copes with it. A turning point in his life is when Malcolm tells his teacher of his aspirations of becoming a lawyer and he tells him to set his sights on carpentry instead. He claims, “It was a surprising thing that I had never thought of it that way before, but I realized that whatever I wasn 't, I was smarter than nearly all of those white kids. But apparently I was still not intelligent enough, in their eyes, to become whatever I wanted to be” (page 34). In this quote, Malcolm recognizes that he is more intelligent than his peers, but since he is of darker complexion, his intelligence does not matter. In this moment, Malcolm realizes the true extent of racism in society and begins to take a step back from white people. Malcolm states, “I don 't care how nice one is to you; the thing you must always remember is that almost never does he really see you as he sees himself, as he sees his own kind. He may stand with you through thin, but not thick; when the chips are down, you 'll find that as fixed in him as his bone structure is his sometimes subconscious conviction that he 's better than anybody black” (page 29).
On the opening week, Finding Forrester made 11,112 dollars. This movie is about a teenage boy from the bronx named Jamal who finds enough courage to break into the “window man’s” apartment. The man turns out to be a very well known author named, William Forrester, that ends up encouraging Jamal to go to a private school that offered him a scholarship, because of his academic excellence and basketball talent. In the end, Jamal throughout his learning and growing close with Forrester, gives him the courage to finally go outside to stand up for what is right. Through their experiences Forrester and Jamal grew so close that Forrester ends up leaving everything he owns to Jamal in his will and dies from cancer shortly after leaving for his hometown.
For the spring term, the faculty made changes and Philip got assigned to Miss Narwin’s homeroom class. Things got worse when Philip was assigned to her homeroom as if being in her English class wasn’t bad enough. When Philip got back to school he found out he was assigned to counseling. Philip was furious and still wanted to get out of Miss Narwin’s English class.
The film started off with Jamal being interrogated by the police by using hanging torture. Jamal was hanging with his hands tied to a rope. A Sergeant asked the person who was interrogating if he got anything out of him. The interrogator says no, and the inspector had decided to try harder by torturing Jamal more. The inspector hooks Jamal up to a battery car and threatens him to give him electric shock. He asked him how he cheated on “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” Jamal refused to talk because he felt very uncomfortable telling his life story to explain why he knew the answers. In life, we meet different people, and sometimes, they become friends. Relationships are part of everyone’s life, good or bad there is always a story that comes with a relationship. Like every good book, there are chapters and plot twists which reaches the climax then comes to the resolution just like a relationship. In Finding Forrester, the bond between Forrester and Jamal grows throughout the movie just like the theme of wanting equality grows through the movie.
