It's important to understand the concept of propaganda and the role it plays in society, and more significantly why companies rely on propaganda. For a seller-and-consumer relationship to take place, trust must exist. This is all developed through the correct application of Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. Ethos allows the company to display the company’s objective, character, reputation, and reliability. Thus, through these characteristics, the customer will develop a natural and safe consumer connection. Logos application enables companies to let customers develop their reasoning based on the evidence and logical arguments they have provided. Pathos allows producers to sway their customers emotionally without their knowledge of how to consume their …show more content…
To start, Nike offers gender and race inclusivity, thus not making it hard to reach many types of customers. It's important to note that by incorporating gender inclusivity, you will reach more audiences and types of consumers. Males, for example, are into sports and look up to sports figures. This doesn't make it hard to create sponsorships in which their product will be advertised. By also including the female population, you can observe that women tend to care about their health and also like to look good. Not only that, but they have also displayed inclusivity of religion, sexuality, and ethnicity in some of their advertising videos. Tagged along with a celebrity thus creating a sponsorship deal and a bigger audience net to be reached As a consumer, I have realized that the brand stopped focusing on comfort a long time ago because customers were searching for other things. One example of this is consumers buying collectible sneakers and reselling limited edition sneakers, thus making a market within their market and making the product's worth higher and more selective to consume within the general population but still making it reachable enough in some cases. Nike also has price inclusivity, which doesn't make it too expensive to afford a pair of Nike brand shoes. There are cases in which certain prototypes are more likely to be a little more expensive than others, but that also just …show more content…
It's easy to be fooled by illusions in a consumerist country whose main goal is to produce and sell, that's why it's important to use your critical thinking skills as a person and consumer. Theres a description on page 63 that gives us some insight into how companies can grow with the correct methods of appeal. “Still another reason is to be found in the improvements in the technique of advertising as regards both the size of the public which can be reached by the printed word and the methods of appeal.” This statement shows that there are many ways in which you can reach your audience when it comes to propaganda campaigns and sponsorships. However, for the campaigns and sponsorships to be reliable and productive for the companies, the product also has to reiterate what they are broadcasting through such media. There are always ways in which a company can improve itself, reach a larger audience, or increase its customers. Yet if you don't know the market you are working in and working towards your success rate, consumer rates can be minimal Also, note that it's more important not how you reach your clients - media broadcasting service but how you choose to reach them through tone and deliverance. This is more important because

There are three methods of persuasion when speaking or writing to an audience: Ethos, Logos, and Pathos. Ethos uses a type of socially recognized authority as its voice. Logos uses logic and reasoning as its tool. Lastly, Pathos uses emotional attachment. For instance, the advertising industry primarily utilizes Ethos and Pathos reasoning and qualities, particularly a Matthew Mcconaughey Lincoln Motor Company commercial, and a Safe driving bonus check Ally Insurance commercial.
America has always been about being the biggest nation: the biggest houses, the biggest cars, biggest cities and unfortunately the biggest bodies. There is no doubt that fast food is causing major health problems for many Americans today. In his documentary, Super Size Me, released in 2004 Morgan Spurlock decides to eat only food from McDonald’s for thirty days to see how it would affect his health. Spurlock starts out healthier than the average man for his age. Throughout the film, we can see that his health gradually degenerates and reaches a critical point, before his thirty days are over. Super Size Me is very persuasive in showing the negative effect in fast food restaurants by using logos, pathos, and ethos.

Do starving children have an effect on everyday life? Ethos, pathos, and logos shows in a modest proposal about how Starving Children affect America and solutions to the problem by John Smith.
We see ads everywhere though-out our day even if we know it or not. Ads that make an attempt to persuade us one way or another. It could be to persuade someone into buying a product or even helping children that are in need. Either way, all these ads use certain persuasive methods, which include ethos, pathos or, logos, to get peoples attention. I saw an ad created by the National Association for Gun Rights. Obviously this ad is trying to let people that we have a right to have own guns. The ad shows a woman pointing a gun with the words “Mama didn’t raise a victim”. I’ve decided that the author was targeting woman that can presumably be victims of assault/abuse at any time. Given this information, the author is using pathos to let us know of the dangers that can be encountered at any given time as well as ethos because of the organization promoting the ad and even a bit of logos.
Propaganda in today’s urban world is everywhere, taking on many forms found in magazines, newspapers, smart phone applications, and billboards. It is not bounded to what we may only think as being used as radical, totalitarian persuasion by countries that are very different from our own. Ann McClintock defines propaganda as “a systematic effort to influence people’s opinions, to win them over to a certain view or side.” We certainly saw during World War II, but propaganda is arguably more popular now than ever before, and the companies are skillfully using techniques they know will draw their customers in. L’oreal is a prime example of that. Their slogan, “Because you’re worth it” is well-known across the whole world. The way they advertise
Many veterans in the nation are struggling to find clothes, shelter, and food. Veterans from the Vietnam War until the most recent wars do not receive the appreciation and the care that they deserve. Due to the lost cause during the Vietnam War, many Americans turned away from supporting the military. After the Vietnam War, military antipathy was on the rise. In the 21st Century, organizations such as Wounded Warrior, Salvation Army, and Travis Manion Foundation are some of the few that provide aid for military veterans. Although someone can argue that veterans receive enough aid from these organizations, a great deal of veterans are sleeping in public shelter homes or wandering in the streets begging for food and clothes. Five Finger Death Punch produced
This technique is commonly broken into three categories: pathos, ethos, and logos. The multi-billion-dollar company, Nike, is one of many companies that utilizes these techniques to not only sell their products, but present their values and morals as an athletic company. Nike’s, “If you let me play,” ad is a perfect example of a print advertisement that encompasses all three persuasion techniques. The ad has emotional appeal, using pathos to evoke feelings of strength and positivity in young girls and their parents urging them to embrace sports and physical activities. Ethos is a fairly simple persuasive technique for Nike to utilize due to their overwhelming success and popularity. With such a large company, it is easy to establish unspoken credibility. In order to establish further credibility, there are statistics and claims based on logical reasoning that exemplify an advertisement using logos to help the target audience understand exactly what Nike is striving to communicate. Through capitalizing on these persuasive techniques, Nike not only successfully promoted their female athletic apparel, but also educated the public on the importance of empowering young girls and encouraging them to participate in sports and physical activities for the overall betterment of their lives mentally, physically, and
Similar to news in its widespread marketing, publicity is another method in which people’s minds are reprogrammed, this time by the merchandisers. Publicity attempts to ingrain concepts and transmit political and commercial messages into the consumer’s minds, in an endeavor to make them buy specific goods. They do this by constantly exposing the people to the products through their repeated displayal on various mediums. Billboards and posters can be found on most highways, and in nearly all cities around the world. Consequently they push ideas at the consumer any time he/she travels on foot, by car, or even uses the public transport systems.
But what makes people buy the name brand Nike? They have great advertisement. I love to watch Nike commercials; they appeal to me as an athlete. The commercials show the inner fight in people, breaking records, becoming a stronger person, being the best you, and being the best athlete; you can be overcoming anything. I find their advertisement to be very inspiring and motivational. The Nike slogan ‘Just Do It’ plastered on so many products inspire others to get out and ‘Just Do It,' no hesitation. Nike tries to appeal to you to buy their products by placing their apparel on professional athletic. Everyone knows Lebron James he has many young athletes that look up to him and want to be just like him. What do they see Lebron James wearing? Nike apparel, for the kids that want to be just like him, they want what he has. So they want the Nike look. For me personally, I see Nike products and logos at just about all sporting events, which is a great strategy for the business.
Nike’s goal is to remain unique and different from others in terms of the items offered on the market. Arguably, Nike belongs to a monopolistically competitive market as there only a few organizations with the ability to regulate the amount charged for their product which means they cannot make their prices high as this is likely to make customers move on to other available choices (Nike, Inc., 2012). However, Nike can find a balance between the prices to charge for their products and remaining competitive with other companies in the industry. Nike has formed a distinction between the appearance and performance of their footwear and that of their competitors. Although products are differentiated from other companies, they still influence each other because they are items of the same
Indifference in this day and age is seen all around. Many are influenced to be conformists, to not be perceived as unusual. The novel Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli effectively explores the experience of being unlike and incompatible in an environment as judgmental as high school. Leo Borlock, the narrator and main character, would soon become fairly intrigued and involved with Stargirl’s unique demeanor. After being homeschooled for years on end, Stargirl begins to attend Mica High School and is presented as a bubbly and daunting character who quickly gains popularity.
They attempt to choose athletes who they want to reflect their brand, they are achievers, winner, determined and accomplishment orientated, which is what they also encourage their consumer to be. Another important source for brand equity from Nike is the high perceived quality of their products not only by athletes but the public as well. Although most consumers won’t be using their Nike products for high level athletic performance, Nike products are always designed to be able to be used with that
Persuasion is a part of our everyday life. Whether we are persuading our mother, using persuasion through speech, or through advertisements, we are using rhetoric strategies to get the response we desire. With the help of minor details in many advertisements, Ethos, Logos, and Pathos are a way of persuading the audience to buy or think a certain way. A Colgate toothbrush commercial used Logos, Pathos and Ethos to spread the word that they have the best toothbrush of all, in which they target everyone who has teeth. Through the use of advertisements, Colgate has convinced the world that they have the best toothbrushes, they’re even recommended by dentists.
