The message content, consumer’s behavior, and advertising funding or budget determines how effective the advertisement for a product will be (Putte, 2009). Advertising is a crucial element in promoting a business because it is the most visible portion of marketing and reaches a mass amount of potential customers (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). New Belgium struggled to use the work “folly” because they did not want to send the wrong message to viewers, and they did not want the word to be misinterpreted by viewers to mean something different from what they were using the word for. This was the company first advertising campaign in the form of a national commercial so it was essential for them to do it right with the hopes of gaining more customers

Advertisements are one of many things that Americans cannot get away from. Every American sees an average of 3,000 advertisements a day; whether it’s on the television, radio, while surfing the internet, or while driving around town. Advertisements try to get consumers to buy their products by getting their attention. Most advertisements don’t have anything to do with the product itself. Every company has a different way of getting the public’s attention, but every advertisement has the same goal - to sell the product. Every advertisement tries to appeal to the audience by using ethos, pathos, and logos, while also focusing on who their audience is and the purpose of the ad. An example of this is a Charmin commercial where there is a bear who gets excited when he gets to use the toilet paper because it is so soft.
Late night driving home, and a strange man is on the side of the road with an axe, but hey, he has Bud Light so why not offer him a ride? In this video ad of Bud Light a couple is lost at night in what seems the middle of nowhere. Seeing a man with an Axe carrying Bud Light Case, the male seeing that he has Bud Light wants to offer him a ride; they pull over and he gets in the car. A glass and bottle of Bud Light appears and the words “Always Worth It” displayed (Viral 0:24). Later, they run in to a mask man with a chain saw and is also carrying Bud Light, and so the male again was to offer him a ride and leads to the commercial ending (Viralstuff 0:28). In this ad, it attracts a white male, and female audience that has low income, and between the ages of 21 and 30, which makes sense because Bud light sell more to Hispanic males that have low income rate, and are between the age of 55-65 (Bud Light Consumer). The commercial will try to persuade you using ethos, logos and pathos. The ad shows that avid Bud Light drinkers will in
Advertisements cannot triumph unless they capture our attention. Advertisers use different strategies like slogans, pictures, claims so those advertising messages do not forgot by the audience and persuade people to buy the product being sold. The language used in these various forms of media has a huge impact on their effects on the consumer. William Lutz, the author of “With these words,I can sell you anything” and Charles A. O 'Neill, author of, “The language of advertising” have contrasting views about the system of advertising. Lutz and O’Neill have different approaches of persuading audience about their views on language manipulation in advertisements.
During John F. Kennedy’s political campaign, there were many issues present that the candidate had to address: there was tension due to the communist threat, tension among American citizens due to the Civil Rights movement, and a recent recession that was very sluggish in recovering. Relating to these issues President Kennedy’s slogan was “getting America moving again”; these topics are addressed in a fast and effective manner in his minute-long television ad that was endorsed by the group: Citizens for Kennedy-Johnson. This ad was the best way to reinforce President Kennedy’s stance on the emergence of a new frontier. He was able to depict himself as a man of change and new beginnings due to his fresh perspective and young age which was a
Charles A O’Neil explains how advertising is made of a simple language which includes short words, pictures, symbol and slogans. He writes that advertisements is being edited into its simplicity form which is the advertising language. These advertisements may seem casual and natural but they are carefully made to get our attention into buying what they are selling. “Every successful advertisement uses a creative strategy based on an idea intended to attract and hold the attention of the targeted consumer audience”. O’Neil also lets us be aware that advertisement wasn’t as easy as we thought it was, like slogans have been engineered so that we remember them even if we refuse to, or that images have been carefully chosen
Analysis of an Advertising Campaign We are swarmed by advertising. Companies constantly battle to compete for the sale of their product. Adverts appear in every form of media including radio; television; Internet; billboards; newspaper; flyers and magazines. The advertiser wants us to buy their product above their competitors. The basic aim of advertising is to convince the target audience that their product is the best in the field and superior to the other products of similarity.
Texts are political. Political in the sense that they produce messages that carry specific ideas and beliefs targeted toward a certain thinking body of people. A familiar phrase in America is, “art imitates life.” It defines life as essential to art, but can we say the reverse? Could life imitate art? The semantics of the phrase seem too ambiguous for such a statement. What is the definition of art, of life? The phrase suggests that art reinforces cultural and social beliefs by using the verb imitate. If art imitates life, then life imitates art. The verb is reflexive and positioned in the middle of the two words it is reflecting. It is true then, the language speaks for itself, and this political statement can be used as a tool to find the underlying cultural belief within a text.
Advertising is simply everywhere, it is something that we can not avoid. Although we might ignore it when we are walking down the street, there is always something wanting to catch our attention. We have advertisements through radio, television, magazines, newspapers, and even on billboards. It has gotten increasingly popular in today 's economy because of how companies uniquely promote their product. These advertisements are created to introduce the goods and services to an audience to try and inspire them into buying their product. Therefore; when companies promote an effective advertisement, customers usually engage in a way if it appeals to their wants and needs. "The Essence of Breitling" ad in Fortune magazine

For many years, beer has accumulated the mainstream idea that beer is typically consumed in the party-type scenes. It has also created a popular thinking that young men that drink beer are manly, wild, girl-loving, partying individuals. Recently, however, it has seemed as though beer companies have begun to stray away from that way of thinking and have begun forming a new ideology. That being, that beer is an alcoholic beverage that can bring people together to have a good time. Guinness has taken this way of thinking and pushed it even further. With this ad, Guinness wants to show that men who drink beer can still be manly, but also sensitive, sympathetic and supportive at the same time. They show these qualities through the actions of the men playing the basketball game.

Advertising is an information source to inform people about the products and prices of the company, which can help them to make informed choices. More recently, a huge amount of money has been spent on advertising throughout the world. Different types of advertisement such as television, radio, magazine, newspaper, the internet, billboards and posters can influence consumer’s behavior positively or negatively as there are different arguments and opinions. This essay will focus on the purpose of the advertisement for the company, the positive and negative effects of the advertisement on consumer behavior. According to Shimp (2007), there are five important factors which determine the purpose of an advertisement in terms of marketers’ communication with consumers.
Advertisements are pieces of art or literary work that are meant to make the viewer or reader associate to the activity or product represented on the advertisement. According to Kurtz and Dave (2010), in so doing, they aim at either increasing the demand of the product, to inform the consumer of the existence, or to differentiate that product from other existing one in the market. Therefore, the advertiser’s aim should at all times try as much as possible to stay relevant and to the point.
