Explicit images and children
How are children negatively affected by pornography and other explicit images?
One of my earliest memories of a coming in contact with a suggestive image was when I was about 11 years old, I went over to a friend’s house, her father was out of the house so I was keeping her company till he got back, we decided to watch a movie but we has seen everyone she owned, the then noticed a movie hiding under the chair and pulled, it out, popped in into the VHS player and watch. This was the first time I ever watch anything pornographic, we watch about 10 minutes of it before deciding to stop, before this my parents monitored everything I watch except the occasional scary movie. After I watch this movie with my friend my life was never the same again.
Day by day children are being exposed to these images intentional or unintentional but how do these images affect them. Scientists at Cambridge University conducted a researched that showed sexually explicit images affect the brain the same way as alcohol or drugs. Dr. Voon discovered that when exposed to these images the pleasure center of the brain known as the ventral striatum is activated, and stimulated the same way it will when an alcoholic sees a drink. The Ventral striatum, a subcortical structure of the brain is known for emotional and behavioral function which makes it a very important part of the brain, if compromised in any way it could lead to mental problems including obsessive compulsive disorder and depression .(Can pornography use become an actual brain addiction). This can be even more damaging to children as their brain is still developing.

After I was first introduced to pornography, I had no idea how it was going to affect me. I had always had an active imagination, I have also been driven to research and know more about any topic I came in contact with and this one was no different, did viewing sexual images at this age affect me? Yes they did but to what extent I still do not know to this day. Viewing those images does affect the way a child’s brain forms and distorts the ideas we have about sex and relationships growing up. With children being so impressionable when introduced to those images, it causes children to act it out. Introducing children to these images can turn them into rapist at a young age and molested, considering most of them don’t know the implications of their actions. How can we prevent this? How can we prevent explicit images all around from negatively affecting children?
“In 2005, out of 68% of TV shows that showed steamy sexual content, only 15% discussed risk and responsibility. And it’s not just movies and TV: Music, video games, and the Internet are also filled with sexually explicit, often-degrading messages that can shape kids’ attitudes about sex.” (greatschools.org)
Porn causes men to get addicted and this causes social isolation. 83 percent of boys have seen group sexuality online. 33 percent of boys have seen bonding online. 18 percent of boys have seen rape online. Boys have a strong sexual impulse.
When it comes to relationships there are many things that need to be present in order for it to work out. You must have support from both sides and honesty is also a big factor. When pornography enters a relationship it can be destroyed and could possible ruin that relationship forever. This essay will be able to inform you of all the ways that pornography can and does ruin relationships. Support for this argument will be drawn from the following sources: Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, Love, Sex, and Health, and The Question of Pornography.
There is no doubt that movies entertain a person. However, over sexualized movies have the capability of poisoning minds which are easily shapeable-for example Fifty shades of gray. Children are told not to view it, however that does nothing to stop the viewing of the movie. Not only does it corrupt young minds it hands them unlimited access to the findings of adult
Which is the primary reason for my selection on this topic. I have witnessed the effects of television, music, cartoons, movies and video games on youths in my community, even in my own home. My little sister who is about 13 years old has grown up way faster than I did when I was her age, as well as my 14-year-old cousin who can already have a full conversation about sex. When asked where does she learn it from her reply is simply, television. It frightens me that they can comprehend the concept of sex and how it is done easily, but is naive about the consequences and aftermath of its actions. It angers me that the media does not tell both sides of the story; they flaunt sex, yet they do not advise you about protection and how it...

Again, there are different ideas of what is considered pornographic from artwork, movies, and books. While one may look at a painting that depicts nude forms or read a book that includes sexual acts may not see this as a form of pornography while others would find it morally offensive. Feminist would argue that the morality of porn is it is degrading and humiliating to those involved, not of its sexual nature. Their concern is that it promotes sexism and violence against women or children. “What is objectionable about pornography…is its abusive and degrading portrayal of females and female sexuality, not its content or explicitness” (Rodgerson & Wilson, 1994) However, others may feel that it is sexually liberating and in no way degrading to those involved. Those women feel in control of their sexuality and choose to participate in acts as a way of expressing themselves while feeling it has no barring on their moral character. While others would argue that it promotes immoral behavior which would lead to criminal acts or an unhealthy obsession with sex. “The most commonly feared adverse effects of pornography include undesirable sexual behaviors (e.g. adultery), sexual aggression, and loss of respect for traditional family structures and values, loss of respect for authorities, and a general nonspecific moral decay.” (Hald & Linz,
Laura Kipnis has described pornography as “an archive of data about...our history as a culture”. Therefore if, she described it as such, what can it tell us about the sexual history of the 20th century? Examining the history of the forms of archive from pornographic playing cards to blu-ray discs and the internet, this shows the ever changing form of how as a society we view pornography. From the forms of archive come the social implications of pornography. This will be examined through the 1986 Meese Commission in the United States of America into the pornographic industry. Finally, this exposition will also examine the differing views of Gay and Straight pornography and the changes that have taken over the 20th century. Overall, the 20th century was a fundamental shift in sexual attitudes towards pornography.
Pornography viewed as a sin and source of revolting evil to most. They use it to have a source in which all sex crimes, the decline of sexual desire in married men, and a long list of other sexual problems that are present. Then there is my view where I see it as not all evil or all good but rather much like the yin and yang sign yang the black representing good and yin the white representing evil neither one is completely good or evil but has a mix of the latter mixed in. Finally there are people who believe that pornography can be used to fix martial problems and connect with other that have similar interests. This side believes that porn has beneficial properties if the children are educated rather than protected from it. Therefore my thesis is as such if children are educated they are less likely to use or view porn as a sinful and harmful substance; while the others who are shielded from its presence will be oblivious to the problems it can cause and may abuse it but this can be said about either side it really comes down to the individual that is what I believe.
Whether pornography is an excuse to make acts of violence public? A big number of famous scholars, no matter men or women, have given their opinions. Each of them has their own view, but we can sort them into two groups, which are against to serious censorship and willing to convict and uproot pornography. Because of pornography, women’s status can never be equal to men’s. Recently, a revolution about the perception of moral values comes out in the world, which refers to how deep the changes of the method people think and act. Media have continuously played a big role in processing those changes in the revolution. Whereas, a lot of changes have been much worse. New violations of human dignity and Christian ideals have taken place. Within here, the media is also important. In the media, widespread pornography and wanton violence have increased in these years. Books and magazines, recordings, the cinema, the theater, television, videocassettes, advertising displays and even telecommunications regularly present a representation of violent behavior in sexual activity, which has been openly pornographic and morally offensive.
While it is certainly interesting to see how deeply pornography has permeated our culture, it does nothing to show whether this is good or bad. Many defend their right to record, publish, sell, buy, and view pornography, but that is not the real question. Rational people will decide for themselves what they should do about it and parents will decide what they need to do for their children, but first pornography must analyzed. Only after the pros and cons are measured should the policy be altered.
Pornography has been the leading player in exhibiting sexual behavior to those who care for such things. In fact, Pornography has become an $8 billion a year industry. However, like every industry, ethical and moral questions and situations come up. Although there are many in dealing with pornography, we will explore the area of Child Pornography.

To some, pornography is nothing more than a few pictures of scantily clad Women in seductive poses. But pornography has become much more than just Photographs of nude women. Computer technology is providing child molesters and child pornographers with powerful new tools for victimizing children. Pornography as "the sexually explicit depiction of persons, in words or images, Sexual arousal on the part of the consumer of such materials. No one can prove those films with graphic sex or violence has a harmful effect on viewers. But there seems to be little doubt that films do have some effect on society and that all of us live with such effects.
Sadly your views are a bit outdated for today’s times. Rest assured it’s not all your fault, and while your views over what should be allowed in the media are skewed, there is also something wrong with today’s culture and media surrounding sex. I understand your hesitance to accept this bolder form of advertising and entertainment as normal, especially coming from an era where behavior as such was in fact considered taboo. Hopefully, I can point out your point of concerns as well as give you a few tips on how to embrace this new generation of media and culture surrounding sex. As well as build a relationship between you and your grandchildren to discuss the importance of having sexual competency. While also pointing out the flaws, that
