The busses are cramped bus on bus on bus. Seven o’clock hits and Ms. Brandy waves her hand signaling to the students off. Myself being a student, get off with the herd of students and walk underneath the school, which is covered with navy blue seats. I approach Ms. Jones with a bit of nervousness running through my veins. The reasons was because I never had a class with her until this year and I did not have a very close connection with her. I reach her and politely ask “Can I interview you for class?” She responds with a nod and a kind smile. Her smile makes me feel more at home to start interviewing about her college life. Before, telling you what I learnt about Ms. Jones, here are some quick facts about her life. Her name is Emerylne Jones (exciting, I know). She now takes more responsibility for her actions and is the mature woman we see today. Reflecting on her college self and herself today she has come to the realization that in college you only have to worry about yourself but outside of college, it is a different ball game. Outside of college you have a family now. Ms. Jones definitely has experience with worrying about family since she is a mother of two, a boy and a girl. Getting the chance to interview Ms. Jones was a delight for me. During the interview, I learnt how she is now the woman she is today. This interview help me feel more comfortable around her and show me that Ms. Jones has the charm to make anyone feel at home. When Miss Hancock came to teach at the high school, she was filled with eccentricity and liveliness. I chose to do my interview on my aunt Rosa Emilia Molina. I chose my aunt because she is someone that i always talk to and look up to. Her slow yet concise way of speaking, coupled with easy to follow transitions allowed for a speech that was enjoyable to listen to. Her use of examples from her personal life allowed her audience to get a picture of who she was if they did not know, and allowed her to better relate to them by provided examples of how she is related to the college they are graduating from. Her reference to many modern political problems allowed her to bring up her important role as an activist and facilitated further understanding from the audience. While some areas of her speech were weak, such as the longer than needed pauses and her lack of consistent eye contact, to a few points where she didn’t speak clearly enough, the overall picture that was her speech was fairly strong. Looking at this speech, I hope to incorporate some aspects that I failed to include in my previous speeches. From the outset of the story there is an overwhelming sense of hope that has enveloped the entire community and school with the upcoming graduation. The communitie's involvement strengthens the authors excitement in her rite of passage. Everyone is preparing for the ceremony and seeking to see how it will affect the lives of those involved. "Only a small percentage would be continuing on to college" (835) and others were just excited for the "glorious release" (834) from school. She felt like she was on top of the world, after all, "the graduating classes themselves were the nobility" (834). Native American Relations During the numerous years of colonization, the relationship between the English settlers and the Native Americans of the area was usually the same. Native Americans would initially consider the settlers to be allies, then as time passed, they would be engaged in wars with them in a struggle for control of the land. This process of friendship to enemies seemed to be the basic pattern in the majority of the colonies. When the English landed in Jamestown in 1607, the dominant tribe of the area was the Powhatan (which the English settlers named after the leader of the tribe, Powhatan).
I am hear to write about Jeannette Walls, and why she would be a great fit for this University. Jeannette is a very honest, skilled, and down to Earth human being of whom I very much enjoy. For the purposes of this assignment, I had the privilege of interviewing an incredibly talented person by the name of Cynthia Jeanette Hyatt, who graciously granted me a last-minute interview after an incident with a previous interviewee rendered that interview borderline unusable.This is not to suggest that choosing her for an interview was merely a matter of convenience. While that did indeed play a role in her initial consideration, the opportunity to interview her was truly appreciated and ultimately enjoyable. Due to busy and conflicting schedules, the interview was conducted in the common area of the high school at which the interviewee works and the interviewer attends. There were a couple gaps throughout the interview, during which the conversation was turned to another person or became tangential, but overall the interview was fairly cohesive.
As we begin the interview, I settled into the desk across from my eighth grade english teacher. Ms. Doherty tucked a strand of brown curly hair behind her ear as she smiled warmly at me, awaiting the interrogation. “Good afternoon.” I started, chipper. “Nice to see you again, Kellie.” she replied, nodding her head in acknowledgement. “So where did you grow up?” I asked, shuffling around a few papers.
I interviewed a fifty-five year old female named Theresa Geis. She is married to Robert Geis and they have four daughters including me. They reside in Denver, Colorado with one daughter still in the house. Theresa graduated with a master’s degree in teaching with a focus in special education.
