Leadership takes a combination of qualities such as communication, decision-making abilities and a strong sense of responsibility. In my experience at Boces, I’ve taken initiative in what being a good leader resembles. It is my personal objective to serve as an inspiration and provide guidance to others. In the culinary environment, I’m consistently prepared to proactively assist my classmates and be a role model others can look up to. For instance, taking on the sous chef role for an important buffet allowed me to show my leadership through action, guiding my class through a busy service. Moreover, I had the chance to establish my leadership skills by being selected among my peers to prepare and serve a three-course meal for a board of education dinner. It was an honor to showcase my abilities and make a significant impact on the success of this prestigious event.
