The sound of my alarm clock rang loudly at 7:15 A.M on a Wednesday morning. I remember waking up exhausted as I got out of bed and completed my daily morning routine. As I was downstairs eating cereal, my father had asked if I heard the doorbell ring and the obnoxious pounds against the door. I clearly stated no as I finished my breakfast and packed my belongings for class while he went to the garage. All of a sudden, a loud bang against my main door filled my ears and my heart began to race. Shadows of more than 30 heads began to cover the windows of my door. I screamed for my parents as I was terrified and could barely grasp the situation. I was in the 8th grade when the S.W.A.T team invaded my home.

In high school, our campus had a police offer train and patrol the school grounds. Every time I saw the police car on campus, I would run the other way due to fear and cried if an officer was too close to me. However, the deputy who was in charge of my campus had an office next to the student body room. Since I was a part of the student body committee, I had to pass by the room every day. The day where I got over my fear was when I was asked by the principal of activities to hand in some paperwork to the deputy. I was scared but I was ready to face my fears head on. Thus, I made the first step and quickly made small talk with the officer. After an entire year of meeting the police officer, my heart was at ease as I began to speak to him almost every day. I visited often and got close with the deputy in charge. I would say my greetings every time I passed by and would ask for advice if I needed any. My fear of the law enforcement slowly crept away and I was comfortable once again. Although it was a tough road ahead, my fear for law enforcements slowly drifted away.
My family faced a traumatizing event; however, it was definitely a memorable and shocking one. I realized that not all law enforcements were terrifying but there are ones that are kind and willing to hear you out if no one else does. I slowly understood why my home was taken over that night and that I was a court order that the police had to comply too. People would never think that an army of men would never barge into their home. However, I can say that the S.W.A.T team invaded my home and that I hope it will never happen
