Napoleon Bonaparte was outstanding military leader and the first emperor of France. He was born in Corsica a little island that belongs to the French. During Napoleons, early years he went to studied at the military college of Brienne. Then he went on to a military academy in Paris “In 1785, while Napoleon was at the academy, his father died of stomach cancer. This propelled Napoleon to take the reins as the head of the family.” (Biography.com Editors, para.4) Napoleon was to take charge and be the man of the household when his father died. He was a very smart man and leader. All the decisions that he made he made was for the best for his men. Out of all his voyages he was one of the greatest generals in history. One of his greatest attributes was being an organizer. He was big on having his soldiers equipped the same way. His logistics skills where outstanding for that fact. When he was spending large amounts of money he kept a record of everything he spent and brought and what was in the inventory. This skill helped him a lot when he had to go into battle. Also, helped him achieve victory’s because he knew from top to bottom all the fire power he had. Napoleon was always learning a lot from what he did right to what he did wrong. He was always trying to improve himself at any chance he got. Napoleon was known to be a heavy reader. This was a great source for when he went into battle. “He would read books about the place in which he would be operating. Studying the country’s history, geography and culture made him better prepared for whatever he would encounter, and help him to avoid errors that previous generals had made.” This all came just from reading a book. He fought exactly 60 battles in his military career. During his career, he conquered Egypt, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Austria, Germany, and Poland. Much of these battles with the opposing force having much bigger military than napoleon did. The reason he was victorious was because of his battle tactics and his strategy going in to battle was superb. He told his men to always move quickly and he would use flanking movements to cut off their line to retreat.
