Normally people are excited for Thursday mainly because it is the gateway to the weekend, but I am most excited that today is my last day for the work week. This weekend, my husband and I are going on our annual camping trip to Yosemite National Park. Since I was not going to be in the office the next couple of days, I decided to stay a little bit later to accomplish the work I would have had to do when I came back from our amazing trip. I am finally done with all of this work and now I can finally go home. When I arrived at the elevator, I saw two of the biggest idiots in the office, Steve and Tony. If I did not work on the one hundredth floor, I would have taken the steps, but I had no other choice. The three of us filled into the elevator …show more content…
Are you an idiot?” I asked looking dumbfounded. “I literally walked on to this death trap with you.” “Only if your looks matched your wits,” Tony announced. My jaw dropped. That was the last thing I had expected Tony to ever say. I thought he was dating Vanessa. I am so confused right now. “And only if you weren’t so arrogant I would actually find you attractive,” said Steve. “Uhm, what’s happening right now?” I asked the two as they were starring into each others eyes. “Listen, I am so-” “No, it’s me who should be sorry,” Steve said as he cut off Tony putting his finger up to his lips. “Let’s not fight anymore.” “What!” I exclaimed at the top of my lungs. “Nah, we’re just messin’ with ya,” Steve said. “Yeah, I cannot believe that you actually fell for it,” added Tony. “Dear Lort, if you hear my prayer please get the elevator movin’ again. I got to get home to my family, and more importantly away from them,” I prayed. The elevator finally began to move again and I just could not wait to get away from these lunatics for a couple of days. When the elevator finally came to a stop on the ground floor, I ran out so quickly it was as if I had seen a ghost. “See ya freaks Tuesday!” I screamed running out of the
Imagine a scenic, wild landscape with animals that roam freely, cascading waterfalls, and mountains that seem to scrape the pale blue sky. This is what one thinks when first hearing the name Yosemite National Park. Unfortunately, the reality is completely opposite. Yosemite is now under a federally regulated Class 1 area under the Clean Air Act, which is equivalent to the pollution of Los Angeles (“National Parks Service”). It is a sad comparison to the past John Muir, who first documented Yosemite Valley, to today’s reality. The condition of Yosemite National Park should be introduced to the American public in order to protect its historic beauty and significance, eliminate current pollution, and prevent future repercussions.
Yosemite and its history, young to old the story of an area of land that is doomed to be mined, forcibly stripped naked of its natural resources. In 1864 Yosemite land grant was signed into act by president Abraham Lincoln, the first area of land set aside for preservation and protection. Yosemite being a very important historical plot of land, some time ago president Theodore Roosevelt visited the park managing to disappear from the secret service with John Muir. Through the years the contrast of ideas between the industrialists and the preservationists have clashed, Yosemite’s history both interesting and mysterious but more importantly inevitable .
Yosemite National Park, is a beautiful piece of nature it is a 195 mile nature getaway from the urban life that is lived San Francisco, CA and 315 miles away from the fast pace and overwhelming life that is lived in Los Angeles CA. This place is like no other in the beauty of its nature. The park is “747,956 acres, and is the home to hundreds of wildlife species and thousands of Yosemite plants” (U.S. Nat. Park Service). Yosemite is known for so many beautiful features, from its granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, giant sequoia groves and biological diversity. And also for its two rivers which are the Tuolumne and Merced rivers. These rivers begin in the park and flow as far as west to the Central Valley.
I went to camp Kangaroobie in year 5. Camp Kangaroobie was my favorite camp, it was just so much fun! Camp was honestly one of my favourite school experiences! I learnt so much at camp and experienced so many new things, which I never thought I would!
One of the best vacation spots and most fun are down the shore in Wildwood, New Jersey. Wildwood consists of a boardwalk with tons of rides and fun, a beach with a beautiful ocean, and little summerhouses with ocean-side views. The best attractions though would probably be located on the boardwalk. There are so many things to see and do. Although it’s rather costly, it’s well worth it and it’s a great place for a family to share quality time together.
Years ago my family took a trip to Yellowstone National Park. I chose this common experience for this memory assignment. First, I made a list of all the things I remembered from my trip at Yellowstone. I remembered we traveled in our motorhome and got halfway to our destination and parked on the side of the road and slept there for the night. I remember seeing the famous geyser; Old Faithful, in addition to seeing lots of bison, and bears. I recall one night that we stayed in a campground bears were in the campground and we were being told to stay in our campers. I also remember during the trip my dad would give me all the spare change and I would collect it. I saved the change up to buy souvenirs or candy. I also remember going to a shirt
Langston Hughes uses poetic elements to express the reader his feelings towards America. Langston Hughes is very upset that America is not what it promised to be. Living in America, he never saw America to be the land of the free, what it promised to be. Instead, he saw America to be cruel to him and now wants to change America to be the country of the free he thought it was. He expresses all his emotion about America, in his poem, Let America Be America Again, by using connotative diction, repetition, narrative tone and organization; poetic elements.
Yosemite National Park: the trees grew far above the extent of my upward gaze, touching the clouds with leafy fingers, delicate raindrops falling slowly from their outstretched branches onto my upturned cheeks. Warm morning sunlight flowed from the fiery eye peeking over the mountaintop, waking the forest. The rays of light shone through each crystalline raindrop as it fell, fire dancing in the mist. In the distance, birds happily announced the dawn of a new day with a triumphant song, filling the fresh mountain air with a soft and gentle ambience. Rainclouds of the purest natural silver unfurled across a liquid golden sky, a misty wind causing the trees to tremble, their leaves falling, spilling their nighttime dewdrops onto the rocks far below.
There is no better place to admire nature’s adverse beauty, size, and diversity than the side by side Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. These parks are home to not only a vast array of wildlife and forestry, but to the world’s largest living tree, the countries tallest mountain, and arguably North America’s deepest canyon. (“Harris, Ann”, 1990) These features alone make these parks a worldwide visitor attraction, where visitors can experience a new outlook of the sensational environment for which we live in. The dynamic landscape of the parks has evolved over millions of years and now preserves the largest groves of enormous sequoias. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks contain various landscape features such as exfoliation domes, canyons, and caverns, along with bedrock geology from the late cretaceous batholith, and a tectonic setting similar to that of Yosemite National Park because of the

Vietnam It is the day before my wedding and all I can think about is how lucky of a man I am. My future wife and I go downtown for some last minute wedding preparations and we run into the secretary of the draft board. Of course, everyone knows about the U.S. government deciding to draft people for the war, but I had hoped I would not be chosen. The secretary of the draft board told me she had mailed me a wedding gift earlier today. My heart sinks into my stomach because I know exactly what she sent.
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
I’ll never forget the time I went to the Los Angeles Zoo. When my family went there it was December 2016, and I was with my dad, mom, and sister. We went to California because we were going to a concert, but we had some extra time before the concert to do something. So we went to the Los Angeles Zoo.
My favorite summer vacation was when my Father took me to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. What made it even more memorable was the fact that it was my very first time on an airplane. I cannot recall another time in my life when I experienced so much joy. That trip to Universal Studios was the first time my Father and I actually did something together, just the two of us and was something brought me close to my Father. In this essay I will tell you about my plane ride over there, what I did right when I got there, and about my time at Universal Studios.
