My narrative story is about volleyball. The reason I want to wrote about this topic is, because I am very good at it,and in volleyball you express your feelings and your skills.I have been practicing volleyball since I was 11years old. When I was 10 a teacher canup to me and told me I would be good at volleyball since I was tall and was strong. So I tryed playing volleyball in gym and was very good at it.Then the school had volleyball tryouts,I wanted to do them but me and my family were moving to arkansasand my school’s name was Carl Stuart.
When I first came to this school I asked my mom if she could sign me up for volleyball, and she did.I could not practice with the volleyball players, because I had to get my phisical, and it was hard to find a place to get them done.So coach lee gave me the address to one.I got my phisical done at a place right next to walgreens for twenty dollars on a friday in august.I practiced volleyball, but had some troble with my jump serving.I was realy good at serving though. It took a while until I could jump serve ,but I practiced hard and got it.
In fourth grade I was 9 years old. At that age I didn't even think of playing sports. I was just like a normal 9 year old. So one day my auntie told me that one of her friends daughters is playing softball for Port City Girls Softball League. Then asked me if I would be interested to play. I answer saying sure I will try it out, so my auntie went and signed me up. So the way that league works is they have a draft to pick their players for their team. Then, the first practice started, I knew nothing about softball so I was brand new at all of it. When it came to one of the next practices one of my older sisters came to watch me and noticed my coach. It was one of her friends! Then my sister told me that one of the players
Volleyball represents my most meaningful commitment not just because I have invested so much into it, but also because it it’s a passion of mine and has been a part of my life since elementary school. The impact my coaches and teammates have had on my life has helped make me the confident and determined individual I am today. Volleyball also takes up a lot of time and there are many sacrifices that come with the sport and playing on a team. To keep up my skills, I have had to give up a lot of my free time and parts of my summer. Balancing school with practices was also a challenge, but participating in one of my passions made it worthwhile. I have persevered through difficult times and learned new lessons along the way, so there is nothing that could make this sport less meaningful to me. (148)
I practically was born with a ball in my hands, and whether it was bumping the ball around the house or knocking over things that just happened to be in my path, I was always with my precious volleyball. My family is also rooted into into the sport. After my mom’s high school team at Central won the state championship, she went on to play at Southeast Missouri. She has been an inspiration to me, and at 10 years old I began to play club volleyball thanks to her. Being one of the youngest on my team, I never got much playing time, but that year of watching and learning helped me settle into a team the year
But, I learned that it was different. I did not understand how hard volleyball actually was because you needed to be loud and aggressive, as well as sporty. These factors made me determined to learn more about volleyball so that I can become good at it. I tried out again during my high school season and I made it on JV freshman year, and varsity sophomore and junior year. Before freshman year, I had not realized how much volleyball meant to me.
Even though he was a parent of a girl on the team, he had coached for a couple high school teams. He knew the sport really well and was a good coach. There were so many people that wanted to play that they made two teams. Even though I was on the second team, I was happy because he made my very close friend and me captains. He told us that he wanted to put us on that team because he wanted us to get a lot of playing time and he could not promise us that on the other team. I learned a lot and finally had a good season of volleyball. We won some and lost some, but we had a good time.
My sophomore year of high school I played on the Junior Varsity volleyball team. We began preparing for the season by doing two-a-days the first week of August. We worked out hard the first two weeks then had our first scrimmage that next Friday. We won the scrimmage, but it was a pretty messy game. It was like we were all doing our best individually, but we were not working together as a team. The court was silent during each play and each time somebody messed up the rest of the team got mad at them.
So I tried out for my school's volleyball team, and I made it! That's when
The scariest thing that I have ever experienced was dislocating my knee during my high school basketball game. While attending Forestview High in 2013 the second game of the season, I acquired my knee injury against Highland Tech. I was very excited about the game because I worked very hard to take a senior spot and was finally getting the opportunity that I was waiting for. Everyday during practice, I gave my all, all the blood, sweat, and tears that I experienced I just knew it was my time. Tuesday, November 22 we get to Highland, warm up, and finally it's time for tip-off. The first quarter I get off to a rough start getting all the jitters out. Second quarter arrives, then I began to get the feel of the game. As I penetrated down the lane after hitting a mean crossover, I came to a jump stop
First, after school during volleyball practice, our coach blow his whistle and all the players run while, shagging the volleyball's and putting them into the basket, heading towards the coach. Then, once everyone is there, all the volleyball was in the baskets, coach would throw a volleyball. Then everyone ran to get that one volleyball and sprinting back to where coach was. Coach does this to show leadership from the group and everyone would run to get the ball and retrieve back to the coach. Once that is finished, coach told the varsity team we would be leaving early heading to Santa Fe, and will be staying for three days there
My love for tennis blossomed at the young age of eleven. During middle school my peers knew me as the boy who was remarkably talented at tennis and I savored that title. Butterflies floated throughout my youthful body whenever someone complimented me. As the years passed, my dad nurtured me into a top player. Before I knew it high school arrived and it was time to compete at a higher level. My excitement was out of this world, but I knew my dad could no longer push me forward and my future was up to me. However, the ego I developed over the years blocked what lie in front of me. I wasn’t looking at the bigger picture; the hard work demanded of me, teamwork, and the motivation to reach an ultimate goal. Throughout my four years of participating
I got depressed and stopped doing sports, but I loved my school. I got a little overweight so my mom tried to put me in different sports, but I hated all of them. I used to cry when I had to go to them. I remember when they tried put me in soccer and I would just throw myself on the field and did not do anything and just let people walk over me in the middle of the field. It wasn't until 4th grade when we were going to eat and my dad saw a flyer for a boxing place.I remember my dad teasing my mom that we should put me in that because I was always play fighting with up my brother and my sister. even though my dad was joking my mom thought that was a really good idea so the next day she called the flyer and ask them if we could come and check out the
I had played on the volleyball team all through my junior high days, and was a starter on the “A” freshman team when I reached high school. As a sophomore, I couldn’t believe it when I got the towel thrown in on me. I was devastated when I was cut from the team. Volleyball was my life; I absolutely loved the sport. How could they do this to me? Everyone told me things would turn out fine, but how did they know? A close friend of mine wrote me a letter stating, “I know that right now it is hard to accept the paths that God has chosen for us, but I am sure whatever you decide to do with what has been thrown in your way you can surpass everyone else”. I thought about what that really meant, and decided she was right. I had been thrown something I was not sure what to do with or how to handle, but with a little advice from my brother, Chris, I decided to take a risk and try something new. I chose to become a member of our school’s cross-country team.
My summer of 2016 was full of numerous traveling, intense sports, and endless fun. Like my previous summers, I have to say this one was an optimum journey. This is because it allowed me to do my two favorite passions in life; volleyball and basketball. The first time I started playing volleyball was at the age of 8. After a few practices, my passion grew for volleyball.
This fire was ignited in me when I was cut from my middle school volleyball team at 12 years old. This rejection was my first realization that I had to work hard for what I wanted. Instead of giving up on the idea of playing volleyball, I was motivated to work harder and improve my skills. What I lacked in athleticism was outweighed by my dedication, work ethic and self-discipline. In only five years I've been able to accomplish what was seemingly impossible. I made a top ranked Florida team and we've qualified and competed in three Junior Olympics, I've been selected to represent the USA twice in highly competitive International tournaments including a second place win at the European Global Challenge in Croatia. I've also had the honor represent Team Florida at the USAV High Performance National Championships where my team brought home the gold medal this past summer. I'm living proof that hard work, motivation and dedication pays off because I'm the girl that was cut from her seventh grade team and is committed to play indoor volleyball for FSU! My passion to compete in high level volleyball has taught me how work together with a team and how to compete individually on and off the court to accomplish
I remember my mom telling me throughout my life that I would make a great volleyball player, but I never gave it a second thought. Growing up, I had no interest in the sport. However, in September of 2013, the beginning of my 8th grade year, she forced me to go to a travel volleyball
