My overall writing skills are decent; there is an allowance for improvement. From an early age, I was required to write summarized essays. As children and young adults, my brother and I read an article from the newspaper daily and were required to give a brief report on what we read, and on occasion, it was in written form. Therefore, my critical thinking and writing skills are refined. I was exposed to the APA style of writing in my undergraduate and master degree courses. At times, I still must refer to my manual, although I still consider writing in APA style a strength. Some major concerns I have with my writing skills include being able to break the habit of using a passive voice in my writing. Every so often, I find it difficult to
When writing a five paragraph essay, there are five steps one must fallow in order to attain perfection, these steps include understanding the question, brainstorming, writing a rough copy, revising, and creating a final draft. The first and most important step is understanding the topic. The topic of the essay is what the essay will be about and if this is misunderstood, the whole essay will be off course. The second step, brainstorming, will help organize thoughts and ideas so they flow amiably. There are many different ways to brainstorm, some of the most helpful are making a web of ideas, making a list of ideas, or creating a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the conviction. All these ideas will be related to the topic at hand. For example, if the essays topic is about how the earth is affected by global warming, then the brainstorming ideas might include the ozone lair being reduced or how global climate has raised. The third step when writing a five paragraph essay is creating the rough draft. The first draft must have all the features the final will, but does not have to be...
Over my career of schooling my writing has changed dramatically at times and very little at others. Through my years of schooling people have determined my main weaknesses and strengths that I should work on with my writing. My biggest weakness is writing introductions and conclusions they must be so complicated and require so much thought to be defined as good. I excel at writing body paragraphs and explaining all the facts that back up your main ideas though.
As the first semester of my sophomore year wraps up, I begin to realize that I have learned a lot in all of my classes. The class that I learned the most from has definitely been my English 111 course. This class have given me so many opportunities to improve my writing skills. With all of the success I’ve had in this class, I believe I will do just fine with writing later in my life.
Change is interwoven in the learning process and therefore is inevitable. It is beyond amazing to reflect on ourselves and see how much we change in just six months. I do not know what is more remarkable—the change itself or knowing that that change represents an expansion in our knowledge, a growth in our abilities, and an improvement in our writing. However, one thing I am sure of is that it feels good to see that, excuse the cliché, hard work does pay off.
Foundations of Writing is said to be one of, if not the most, difficult classes offered in the high school. I have thought about why I am taking the class multiple times. I have quite a few struggles when it comes to writing but I also have many strengths. I believe my writing skills can be improved and I can grow tremendously as a writer by taking this class. Good writing is something that is achieved by working hard and practicing a lot.
I can honestly say I am a horrible reader and a writer at the same time. My goal for this essay was to reflect on what I learned. From analyzing my writing, I can assure that I have problems understanding the question. In order for someone to learn how to be better at something it is by practicing. That’s what this class has taught me. From my first essay having to choose a topic and finding an answer to this problem Martinez, Magdeli” Exloratory.”2017. Which seem like an easy topic that had a lot of work to do To my second essay which I had no idea what I was doing. Since I have never done that type of essay before. That’s what I like about this writing class. Been challenge putting myself in a position that makes me think about the topic.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
One skill that I wish I had time to improve on is citing sources in MLA style. Through the course, I refused to seek help from my professor until week seven, one thing I regret doing. that could have allayed the fear and doubt I had about this course. Any questions I had could be cleared up as the course progressed. My essays through the subsequent weeks have demonstrated my strength and weaknesses. I do not have many strengths when it comes writing, but still I consider my greatest strength in writing to be being able to clearly understand the prompt and answer it correctly, especially with the analysis essays. I think this is just because I spend most of the scarce time on hand just to think about the prompt, for example, when I was preparing for my rhetorical analysis essay on globalization I thoroughly read both article on globalization by both Kwame Anthony Appiah and franklin Foer .An obvious struggle I have as a writer is organization and transitions. I tend to jump from one topic to another and sometimes cover. I should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs to make my reader understand the logic of my paper. I have not had enough writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. I do sometimes admit that it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I become a proficient
There are many ways to learn the art of reading and writing. You can learn from people, games, tv shows, and much more. Not only do you learn these skills but you also continue to learn new techniques and methods throughout your entire life. Although I have learned a majority of these skills at an early age, I am still learning new ways on how to read and write today. When I started to develop these skills, I was just learning how to recognize letters and how to hold a pencil.
Gabriela Zamora Professor: R. Stringer Friday class 09/06/2014 Writing consists of strengths and weaknesses; it requires perfect grammar, spelling, enhanced vocabulary and good punctuation. In my point of view, I have never considered myself a good writer. One of my weaknesses in writing is always tackling the prompt, due to it is hard for me to begin an essay. My grammar and punctuation has also been another problem in my writing because I always tend to use the wrong transition word or punctuation.
Writing is a form of human communication that is frequently used to express oneself and express emotion. This competence is influential to society because it is very useful as a tool for cognitive thinking, self-expression, and bountiful forms of creativity. At this point in time, I personally see myself as a strong, proficient writer who has the utmost capability to get a point across, as well as persuade someone through emotions and other variables. This semester, I have greatly improved all of the fundamental skills that are needed in writing, and compared to the beginning of the year, I feel much more comfortable portraying my emotions through the papers that I write.
Saving memories is sometimes difficult to store in our minds so most people have their own ways to save their own by taking photographs, recordings, and through writing. In my case I am a writer since I was young. I wrote a lot of school magazines, poems and essays. In this essay I will draw few lines about my writing skills including my strenghts and weaknesses. Being the best writer is what I dreamt of from my childhood years.
Throughout this year, my writing and reading skills have improved considerably. In the past, English has been a relatively smooth class for me although I do struggle with some finer points such as certain grammatical concepts. I usually enjoy English class because I love reading for fun and enjoy writing creatively. Outside of school, I do gymnastics at JETS, tumble and polish rocks, read a lot of fiction books, play cello and walk my naughty beagle named Riley.
In my life, reading, writing, and language play an important role inside and outside of Union Catholic. During middle school, I did not have the best reading comprehension skills as well as proper writing skills. My grammar was not sufficient enough for me to write decent papers to hand in during Writing and English class. However, during my first year at Union Catholic, everything changed.
