Have you ever wondered if there was ONE THING that would teleport you to success? Yeah, right? Me too! Apparently, there is ONE THING that you can use to become successful in real estate and across the eclectic spectrum of professions. Am I trying to sell you on a pyramid scheme? No, that ONE THING is, drumroll please… mentors! World-renowned and real estate moguls like Mr. Olympia Arnold Schwarzenegger had Joe Wieder, talk show host Ellen DeGeneres has Oprah Winfrey, Oprah Winfrey had Maya Angelou, Investor Warren Buffet had Benjamin Graham and yes President Donald Trump, whether you like him or not, had Fred Trump. Genius Issac Newtons’ famous aphorism concisely states the impact mentors have, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on …show more content…
Socially Intelligent to communicate effectively and calibrate to the moment. 9. Well Connected to link others to be better suited to contribute or make friendships. 10. Financial wealthy to share traveling experiences, quality nutrition, personal development, and technology. So, how will I attract this desired mentor in real estate? I will find someone who has those attributes. I can see any medium working to find this desired mentor, whether it is through online research or networking at a local conference. I see myself initiating the introduction and building rapport. Most importantly, I would like to be able to articulate how mentoring me will be a worthwhile experience. I envision my mentee/mentor relationship being synergistic. The plan for my mentorship to be worthwhile experience is as follows. I think of money, time, support, and knowledge to be the basis of this worthwhile experience. I think money can contribute to happiness. I will make money for my mentor by being of great service. Depending on the situation, I will even save my mentor money by doing an internship. Time is money. I will save my mentor time and stress by allowing my mentor to delegate dreaded tasks to me. Support is another factor that I will provide to my mentor, whether it’s through a push or in times of duress. I will provide this support in the form of encouragement, by exceeding expectations through unrequested work or by laughing at their bad jokes. Lastly, I am a sponge. I will soak up new …show more content…
Joke aside, growing up was rough. Lacking a positive support system was not only acidic to me, but to those around me that I negatively influenced. From where I was, to where I am now because of the indirect mentors that I have had, has made me healthier. I still have my flaws, but I recognize the positive impact mentors have. I wholeheartedly believe that when I attain this envisioned mentor, I will contribute the value given to me tenfold to countless others. For example, I am passionate about poor and troubled kids. They are the future. I know how hard it is to become a good and successful person that positively influences others on your own. I generally believe if you are influenced by toxic, you become toxic. If you are influenced by great, you become great. I look forward to the mentor in real estate whose path aligns with me -the type of mentor/mentee relationship that enhances our career and allows me to develop and house countless

From a tiny bungalow in Waterloo, to a large commercial building in downtown Toronto, there is a variety of properties to choose from. The benefit of being in real estate is that people can choose between residential or commercial, as some people prefer to be in the the residential market over the commercial market. The occupation that will be discussed throughout this assignment will be a real estate agent, as there are several opportunities for growth in this occupation. From selling a two hundred-thousand dollar house to a multi million-dollar house, the growth in this field is enormous. Being a real estate agent has many positives but it also has many negatives and people have to be aware of that. Although Ontario does not require a university degree to become a real estate agent, having an undergraduate degree in bachelor of commerce certainly helps. Since a real estate agent does not need a university degree, agents need to obtain a license instead. In Ontario, a major real estate agent company is Re/max, which helps agents advertise themselves in the hopes of gaining new clients. In the end, being a real estate agent is very eventful in the fact that the market is always changing and there is always competition in becoming a top agent in a certain
Mentoring can be that hand that reaches down and pulls you out of the pit. Mentoring can change lives forever and create permanent relationships. Mentoring can help a child get on the right track if they do not have someone else to help them. Whether they have grown up without active parents, have gotten into trouble from time to time, or even if they are a straight A student, the youth needs mentoring. It will build a country that has a solid foundation in which the current youth of America will one day lead. Mentoring proves that “regardless of background, [all children] are equipped to achieve their dreams” (Bruce and
I have been a mentee in three mentoring programs and I understand from firsthand experience how important mentors have been in my life. Each relationship was very different; one of my mentors was about two generations older than me, while my two more recent mentors have been only a few years older than me.
The most formidable aspect in real estate has to be maintaining one’s career. Although there are many agents in this career field, the competitive environment portrayed daily makes this career one that may prove to be unsuitable for the meek. Negotiations, persuasion, debate and often a frequent contest for supremacy in the agency are recurring tasks when trying to sell property to clients. One could think of this as similar to the board game “Monopoly”, in reverse. Rather than trying to own all the property around, these “players” attempt to sell as much land as they possibly can. Those who fail to recruit an adequate amount of clients find it hard making it “past go” and often fail in the agency or, much worse, lose their jobs. Prospective agents should spend a great deal of time enhancing their communication skills either by taking classes in public speaking or perhaps even joining a debate team. Such laborious duties make it apparent s that being a successful real estate agent is for more difficult than it seems.
The Millionaire Next Door, by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko advises a slower process of becoming successful in your career or business. While conducting interviews with a range of millionaires, they were able to detect common themes: saving your money instead of spending it, budgeting, investing carefully, seeking out good advice whenever possible, and spending time on money matters. This is not by any means a “get rich quick” plan. In fact, the majority of those interviewed were older and retiring comfortably.
Taking a look at previous teachers and managers can really help broaden your horizons in the search for a mentor. Especially if this person from the past has a lot of knowledge on the current position the protégé holds.
I believe the mentoring experience to be a valuable one for both the mentor and the mentee. In the educational system that exists today, students from majority groups and positions of privilege are more often set up for more success and opportunity than minority groups and lower income families. This system subscribes to a myth of meritocracy, which we read about in the article by Lorriz Anne Alvarado, Dispelling The Myth of Meritocracy, Lessons For Higher Education and Student Affairs Educators. This is the idea that the American Dream is achievable to all that work hard enough, where rather the reality of it is that the United States has a history of racial and class based exclusions, where k-12 education is “uneven on lines of race and
The best investment anyone can make is an investment in them; we must first distinguish and understand how to do so, and take the appropriate actions. “Obviously building character of total integrity and living the life of love and service that creates such unity isn’t easy. It isn’t a quick fix.” (Covey 318) With the knowledge I have learned and retained from reading this book, I have begun my transition to becoming a highly effective
In addition to this, this conference will allow participants to be partnered with a mentor with similar interest to discuss prior and after the summit about what participants plan on doing after this conference and to continue
I have 14 years of real estate experience, which commenced in 2003 when I joined Trammell Crow as in the Property Management division. Subsequent to leaving Trammell Crow, I worked as a General Manager of a small development and multifamily acquisition and management firm. During my 5-year tenure in property management I manged a $100 million + portfolio consisting of more than 400 Class A and Class B units in Northern VA and DC. I now am a Principal and Co-founder of The Harbane Company, a boutique investment firm focused on real estate. We primarily engage in new construction, fix and flips, and joint venture development engagements in the DC metropolitan region. We currently have 3 ongoing projects, 2 in Petworth (DC) and 1 in Hyattsville
My experience from having a mentor this past semester has been invaluable. I do not know who paired me with Randy Robb but whoever it is deserves a big pat on the back because the match could not have been better. Since meeting Mr. Robb I have picked up reading a couple books as well as articles/quotes from prominent speakers throughout history. My perspective on money and the workforce has changed for the better thanks to my readings. I discussed life goals with Mr. Robb and he shared his personal insight with me, as well as offering any advice he could. We have met 4 times this semester and I plan to return periodically as my time here in Lake Charles continues; both Mr. Robb and I are glad to know that we have the opportunity
Many young people just need to be motivated and given a fair chance at success. Young people need mentors to help them find their way and to help them stay focused. Mentors play an intricate roll in your lives and are sort of liaisons between your parents or guardians and your educators.
There were many instances in my life that have shaped my values, intellect, and academic or career goals. I was raised by my parents to become a hard worker, independent, and caring young adult. I was taught how to be all these qualities by a combination of experiencing and witnessing them first hand.
One of my mentors was able to show me life outside of poverty. They showed me doors of possibilities and started a fire in my heart that would set a blaze of zeal. Going from a life of no direction or goals to having a vision for my life and wanting to purse a better life for my future has done a lot for me. It’s important to help everyone in their current situation because you never know what the outcome will be for that individual. Not everyone has the ability and drive to get out of their current situation. Sometime people don’t want to change from their current situation. For me it was simple I wanted more for myself, I’m glad I made the choice to do something about it. It’s had a lasting effect on my life. My wife and two girls will never know poverty because of my life decision that I made. Making sure I got out of that environment and wanting something better in
