I have been taught for as long as I can remember that a person should always have goals. I remember starting High School and my teachers asking me what my goals were. I always answered with “to get all A’s in my classes” or “to do well in school.” To this day I still have many goals for myself and have achieved some of the ones i’ve made. I have completed up to High School level, and not failed a single class, which is one of the goals I made for myself when I entered HIgh School. I didn’t want to fail because that would appear on my transcript and make completing High School and getting into a University harder for me. I remember my senior year of high school the counselors had to pull each of us in and make sure we were on track to graduate and had an understanding of what we wanted to do with our future, and I was always glad to hear that I was on track. Then I told them that I was going to a University, and was going to study marketing, and they were surprised to hear that I already had a plan, and goals for myself. Getting into a University was also one of my goals, a big one actually. I wanted to be the first one in my family to attend a University. Which I did, I got into the only University I wanted to attend in Oregon. I had this goal throughout high school, I told myself Community College was not an option. Even though towards the end of high school I had doubts, and thought it might not be a possibility for me to attend a University I overcame those and completed my goals. Now that I am here, at Portland State University I had to make new goals. I am majoring in business marketing, and plan to get my Bachelor of Arts in Business Marketing. Which means that I have to take the right classes to obtain that degree and make ... ... middle of paper ... ...be true. I applied and I got the job! Since working at the Telefund I have learned to many things about Portland, and the University. The Telefund give you so many opportunities I didn’t know was possible. Every single day I get to hear from alumni that have graduated from Portland State and hear about their experience, how they liked the university, what they are doing with their degree and how Portland State helped them in general. Also not only do I get to hear from alumni I get the chance to hear from the deans of different school at Portland state and have the opportunity to ask them questions. I don’t think I would know as much about the university if I didn’t work at the Telefund. The Telefund means being able to have huge amount of opportunities, as well as learning things about the school everyday and I wouldn’t have that if I didn’t work at the Telefund.
My purpose and goals in attending college is to make something of my life. It is a good thing. No one wants to be a nobody. But sometimes it takes time in order for one to realize this. & nbsp; Upon graduation from high school, I, like the majority of others high school graduates, had no clue what direction my life was heading or even what I wanted to become.
In conclusion, I was fortunate enough to understand many important things in life. One of those things is that we do not always begin at the desired start line, but through effort and strong will we can arrive at the desired finish line, where the outcome of our plans and goals reside. In my pursuit of education, I faced many challenges and hardships, but I always viewed them as temporary setbacks not as a finish line. I am certain that an opportunity to study at the UW would help me reach my finish line.
My goals in college are to get involved with student government, play lacrosse graduate in the top of my class all my life of being in school I was always active not just a regular student. Whether it was SGA or sports or volunteer work I was a part of it; all years of school levels I have graduated with honors and I do not want to see anything different now while I am in college. As we all know college is not a walk in the park and I am well aware of that. I have to really be on my game to accomplish my goal of graduating with honors. I am already on the way of my goal, I have already completed 3 business courses and am now on the process of taking one now. I have taken business law, introduction of business, and industrial business; I did not take them at Towson however they still transferred over as business courses.
The reasoning behind attending Rowan University is to have completed at least four years of schooling, graduate with a college diploma, and be able to prosper in my chosen career field. In this day in age, without a college degree you are most likely not going to receive an adequate job. Goal Setting allows for people to strive to high expectations and help improve your overall performance. Goal setting is vital because without objectives you in return lead yourself to failure. When tasks are made, we usually attempt everything in our power to master them. By not allowing yourself to set goals, you waste valuable time and tend to take the “easy route” throughout life. Various goals were in mind before attending my first semester. These goals
As high school students, most of us were taught the dream of going to college from the importance that it has. The real life examples from our friends teach us the importance of going to college. If you drop out of college you may lose yourself, your family, and your friends. One of my friends dropped out of college because he had a bad friendship. So, they convinced him not to go to the school, but when he grew up he realized that the college was the most important thing in his life.
My name is Alexis Carr, and I am a second-year TAMHSC Medical Sciences Ph.D. student pursuing the Clinical and Translational Sciences track. My ultimate career goal is to use data science and biomedical informatics skills in a clinical setting. I can see myself using machine learning, software engineering, and data visualization to empower clinical decision support. In Dr. Duane Steward’s lab, we mined data from electronic medical records to capture patient- reported outcomes which would eventually inform an intelligent agent that would effectively close the communication breakdown between patient and physician in hopes of ultimately improving both patient follow-up and care plan compliance.
As the most of my peers, I have been asking myself a question, what is it really I want out of my life? This question has been bothering many people, and not only the college students who are trying to figure out the path which will lead them to the comfortable life. One might ask, what is that comfort that we all are striving for? Is it a state of mind or is it some unknown world that we are so eager to enter? Well, it varies from person to person, it depends on the life that the person has left behind when the decision to go to college was made. There are several aspects of our lives that could influence us and the future decisions that we'll make. The biggest part of our decision making is the way we were raised and the culture we have got used to. Many Americans believe that the success depends on the family background that you have. There are those who say that if the person was raised in a rich family, all opportunities are available to them and there is a high! chance that the person will live a comfortable life. The same people are saying that if the person was raised in a poor family there are too many obstacles to overcome and most of the time these barriers on the way are too hard to cross. On the other hand, there are those people who say that the America is the land of opportunities and any person could achieve his/her goals if they set their mind to it.
Setting goals is the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goal's you are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in school, and trouble finding a career that will provide for you. Without these three things, achieving your goals is going to be one of the toughest tasks in the years to come.
My interest in the University of Tulsa is strengthened by the required practicum and field experience, as well as, excellent faculty and facilities. I intend to pursue a career in applied research and organizational consulting, therefore, these qualities are imperative to myself and my career.
Currently, my lifetime goals are to finish high school with excellent grades, attend Texas A&M university with a degree in Construction Science or Industrial Distribution, work at Pine Cove Christian camp as a camp counselor at least one or two summers, get an interesting internship, land a satisfying first job with a reputable company, and then start my own business. In my personal life, I want to marry the girl of my dreams and start a family. I want my wife and I to raise our children in a positive, happy, Christian environment attending magnitudes of Aggie football games. Meanwhile, always keeping my focus on my faith and creator. Without Him nothing is possible.
If I never make goals for myself or work hard and don't learn from my mistakes I won't leave the legacy I want to leave. One goal that I want to achieve is to get stright A’s. I want to achieve this, I will study, pay attention, and follow directions. For example I spend a lot of time at my dance studio and I want to get better this year. If I'm able to achieve these objectives I will be extremely proud of myself and also my teachers and my parents will be very glad for myself. If you keep a positive mind you will be able to achieve your goals. These goals will make me smarter and a harder worker after I'm done completing my
Many people tend to set goals. They can set goals for their personal life, academics, or even for their professional lives. You can literally set a goal for pretty much anything you can imagine. I believe that people should set goals, they help you stay focused and want to do better for the future. Goals change all of the time though, because of a lot of different reasons, maybe you found that one thing just really is not what you want to do with your life, so you find something else to do. To me that is just how life is, my goals will most likely change as I am getting older and trying to find what I want to do with the rest of my life.
I have high goals in life, and they terrify me. My goals are really big and will be very difficult to accomplish. By 18, I want to have my driver's license, some scholarships, and i want to have the credits and GPA to graduate highschool with honors. i can accomplish all of that by keeping my grades up and always trying my best. I have to make sure i take school seriously and not joke my way through everything. By the time Im 25, i want to have started college and be doing very well in it. In order to do that, I have to keep my grades up and i have to make sure I stay on top of all my assignments. I can't procrastinate everything like i usually do. If i want to do really well in college, i have to earn it and i have to work for it. No grades
My journey as a student has always been focused on the path to college and success. Before I even set foot in kindergarten my mother, a college dropout, always told me that “honor roll wasn’t an option” and that I would be attending college in the future and achieving a degree. Most of the time I made these requirements. Most of the time I was awarded honor roll or had a newly edited list of colleges to attend, but sometimes life got in the way of my dreams of achieving success.
It has been my craving in every aspect of life to do things differently, chart my own path and tread in to uncharted territory. Nine years back, this what made me join a course in bachelor of marine engineering at MERI, the only institute in India exclusively offering such a course. Idea of venturing in to high sees, braving the storms with only handful of resources and almost completely cut off from out side world made adrenaline pumping in to my veins. All this along with opportunity to get exposure to highly sophisticated systems on board ships, which was fodder for my technical bent of mind seemed perfect for my adventure seeking personality. Through out my career progression I have made such decisions like joining LNG shipping pool of my company and seeking extra professional qualification of eligibility to sail on diesel engine driven as well as turbine driven ships
