My family took a trip to Minnesota, and man did that trip create some memories! The trip up north went very smoothly, no issue at all. The place we were staying was an adorable two story house right on the lake with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a very spacious living room and kitchen, a deck with a view of the lake, and a screened in porch. The lake was orange due to all of the iron in the ground but it was beautiful, like a sunset. On the first day we got there, we took our boat on Crane Lake for a nice joy ride. We were on our way back to the house when, Bam! We hit an unmarked boulder in the water. My sister, Kaily, flew so high into the air we almost swore she should have ended up in the water. Instead, she landed safely back in the …show more content…
There were at least 100 movies there waiting for me to watch, it was like my own little movie theater. There was steam shower that I used almost every night. There was a lot of board games to play; I played checker all the time. A well equipped kitchen that was a lot of fun to cook in; I spent a lot of my time cooking soupy mac and cheese. The screened in porch was facing woods so we can sit outside to enjoy the outdoors without being eaten alive. We were able to hear the bugs swarm around the porch. Aside from the horrifying bugs, you are able to feel the cool breeze seep through the screen and fit the skin. Every morning we would see a family of deer that would come onto the property to lick salt blocks. I would go back just for the …show more content…
It did not take too long for my dad to change the tire. We were back on the road in no time. About two or so hours later my mom saw something in the rear view mirror fly from the boat trailer. So we took the next exit off the highway to see what was going on. Our spare tire was shredded and only the tube was left. We were screwed. We did not have an extra tire. We were stuck on the side of the road. It was horrible, at least there was no more bugs swarming us. All of sudden an angel came to save us; a road side assistance truck pulled up behind us to see if we needed help. Thank the Lord he came. He told us that he did not have the size tire we needed but there was a shop about 30 minutes away that has the size we need. When the man left, my dad realized that the fender was bent which caused the tire tread to shred. My brother, Evan, realized that we were pulled over next to a pond and started making jokes about how we could catch more fish in there than we did at Crane Lake. We joked around a lot more about the trip, which helped pass time. In the end we still all wanted to get home as fast as
I lost my grip on the handle bars and began to fly over the front of the four wheeler. My dad quickly reacted and grabbed me and pulled me back onto the seat. We came to an abrupt stop as we struck the opposite side of the ditch. The sound of the muffled four wheeler echoed in our ears as we sat there in disbelief. What have I done.
This one morning while we were all on vacation at Panama City beach, we all woke up at the right time. We saw some dolphins passing by our window and it was so awesome. We watched them pass until we couldn’t see them anymore. Since we were all crowed up around each other I figured it would be a good time to tell my family the plans that I have for the day ahead. I told them that I wanted to go to the pool and so we went to our amazing hotel pool. I was too short to stand anywhere other than the 3-foot area, so when I wanted to go anywhere else I could touch the ground. The pool had these amazing water slides but I was too short to ride on them. I could ride on the smaller one, it went so fast!
The trip began when I took a small green pencil and signed by name on the release forms needed to hike in Yosemite National Park. I and nine of my friends left the ranger station that night with a neatly folded map and a felling of excitement to what lay ahead. The long drive to the park left us tired and in need of a good night’s sleep. We decided to stay in tent city like most hikers do before they set out for their trek. Tent city was a large subdivision of tents that resembled a community of houses. Each tent was perfectly uniformed in its appearance and made up a total of fifty tents. Before we went to bead, we studied our maps and made an itinerary to the amount of hiking we would do.
We loaded the van, and then we set off to go home. The trip home was pretty quiet. We stop a few times and my Mom always says “We’re almost there, guys.” I’m so glad I did. Well, after many, many grueling hours, we finally arrived home!
We started our travels down in Columbus Ohio. The week leading up to the big move we spent at Deer Creek State park, for a family reunion, where my dad and step mom, had the chance to see everyone again, before the journey began. Over all we had taken nine days to get to our destination. First stop, Saint Louis, Missouri, we stopped to see the Gateway Arch. It was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, so of course I was pretty amazed. The first few days were our longest driving days, but sense we broke up the days, our longest day was eight hours. The second day was the worst, Oklahoma is so boring to drive through, and nothing but flat crop farms, and wind turbines everywhere you look. We drove till we got about seventy five miles from the boarder of New Mexico, And Oklahoma. We got up early and began a shorter dive to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where we went to Petroglyph National Monument, yeah it was interesting, but after you see a few hundred, they all start to look the same. The next morning we took a beautiful hike and took many pictures to capture the moment. Other than getting there, my favorite part of the trip, was Arizona, where we stayed four days in Flagstaff, one day in Holbrook, and one day in Phoenix. I wouldn’t mind if I lived in Arizona, it’s a very beautiful state. My family and I stopped by the Petrified Forest National Park, and I
It was a bright sunny day and the lake looked like glass, perfect to go water skiing. My dad, brother, and I decided to go get the boat ready for our trip. We had to get the sunscreen, refreshments, and water skis. Once we all got in the boat, we had to untie the ropes that were tied to the boat and the dock and lead the boat out of the dock without it colliding into the dock..
As you can imagine I was contributing my fair share of all the clamor, but after about seven hours it soon became apparent that the effect of energy drinks would wear off. If you could have been there and looked around you would have seen some people reading, other talking amongst themselves; however, I was playing halo on my laptop. About two hours later after just getting into Colorado everything bad you can imagine started happening. I was asleep at this time, but when I heard the loud BOOM!, SNAP!, and HISS, I was instantly awake and wondering what had just happened. At first everyone thought it was just a blow out, but after our youth pastor got out and checked all the tires it soon became clear that there was a much bigger problem at hand. So our youth pastor decided we should call a mechanic and a tow truck, the problem was deciding if we should call...
This summer I went to my lake house, on Lake Shafer. I tubed, skied, wakeboarded, and Kneeboarded. At the start of summer, I was tubing. It was so exciting when I caught air. I had to at least hit 4 feet in the air when my tube hit a wave. I was going so fast, it felt like I was hitting 70 mph when my mom turn the speed boat. It was the best time.
The winter months are upon us. While many of the snow lovers enjoy the tranquility and the Zen the snow brings, there are also enthusiast who simply can’t resist the winter sports. Oftentimes, led by the inner child enthusiasm, people tend to forget the potential of injuries while skiing, ice skating, snowboarding, playing hockey, or simply shoveling snow. Even though the winter outdoor activities are always fun to engage in, the ice surfaces can lead to serious knee or shoulder injuries. Understanding the risk of winter injuries is the right solution to prevent the joint health while enjoying the favorite winter activity.
I was the first person to ski off of the chairlift that day; arriving at the summit of the Blackcomb Mountain, nestled in the heart of Whistler, Canada. It was the type of day when the clouds seemed to blanket the sky, leaving no clue that the sun, with its powerful light, even existed anymore. It was not snowing, but judging by the moist, musty, stale scent in the air, I realized it would be only a short time before the white flakes overtook the mountain. As I prepared myself to make the first run, I took a moment to appreciate my surroundings. Somehow things seemed much different up here. The wind, nonexistent at the bottom, began to gust. Its cold bite found my nose and froze my toes. Its quick and sudden swirling movement kicked loose snow into my face, forcing me to zip my jacket over my chin. It is strange how the gray clouds, which seemed so far above me at the bottom, really did not appear that high anymore. As I gazed out over the landscape, the city below seemed unrecognizable. The enormous buildings which I had driven past earlier looked like dollhouses a child migh...
The water beats at the bank feel gently, and resides carefully to avoid over soaking it. The air is fresh and overwhelming with cool gushes of wind blowing past, provoking the trees to yawn and some times sleep. It was a lovely Valentine day and perfect for a picnic at Lake Lavon.
About a month later, my dad bought another old Honda in beautiful condition, and about a month after that I bought a ...
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
Embarrassed bringing the car to get washed, I sat and waited for the car to make it through the other side. Nervously waiting I was greeted by two more people that were also waiting for their vehicles to be cleansed of minor visual defects. One of the customers was a man in his mid forties and the other was a boy almost the same age as I was. I still sat there in anticipation waiting to see my car pass through the other side.
My favorite summer vacation was when my Father took me to Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. What made it even more memorable was the fact that it was my very first time on an airplane. I cannot recall another time in my life when I experienced so much joy. That trip to Universal Studios was the first time my Father and I actually did something together, just the two of us and was something brought me close to my Father. In this essay I will tell you about my plane ride over there, what I did right when I got there, and about my time at Universal Studios.
