My Grandmother's Short Story

It was just a typical Tuesday and I was standing at the counter preparing supper and as I gazed out the window I realized something wasn’t right. Normally I could see the horses prancing around the field but today the wooden fence around the horse corral was knocked over and the horses were nowhere to be seen. This is the beginning to one of my Grandmother’s classic stories that everybody in the family has heard to many times to count. Most people have at least one crazy story that they like to tell, and my family is no exception. The story that everyone on my father’s side of the family can recite word for word is the one where my grandmother lost the animals. The story sounds kind of crazy to begin with; the first time you hear it, I am positive you won’t think it is actually one hundred percent true. Nevertheless, I can assure you that this in fact did happen, and yes, my grandmother lost all six horses and a bull from the yard on the same day. So as the men were on their way to help, they saw the horses trotting down the street. Their job ended up being a lot easier than expected. They didn’t have to search for the horses at all they just had to round them up and bring them back to the corral. I am not sure of how they managed to round up six horses and bring them back, but never the less, the horses ended up back where they belonged. Now they had to get the bull. My grandmother says she wasn’t leaving the house and the other men had no clue how to get a bull rounded up, so she called the neighbour. The neighbour still lives there today and he is a good family friend. He is one of those guys who somehow knows how to do everything, so getting a bull to listen seemed easy to him.
