In a traditional lecture based class students are typical assigned material to study before coming to class, then are expect to sit through a lecture over the content, then assigned homework to due on their own out of the class room. Many educators are experimenting with the idea of a flipped classroom model. This model has been heard to change the education experience for so many failing students. So what is this model and why is everyone talking about it? The flipped classroom model was created by two specific innovators, Jonathan Bergman and Aaron Sams. Both teachers currently teach at Woodland Park High School in Woodland Park, CO. According to (Teacher’s guide to flipped classroom) The teachers discovered software to record powerpoint presentations, which recorded and posted their live lectures online for students who missed class. Students have been known to complain when there is a change or loss in what they are used to. Student’s begin to wondering what their tuition brings them when they could have just simply surf the web for videos like khan academy. Introducing a new model to a class can be tricky, this could also mean additional work and new skills for the students and instructor. For teachers a flipped classroom changes the role for instructors, many instructors are used to teaching in front of the class lecture based. For student’s not ever child can pay for electronic device to watch the video’s from home. Most times teachers and administration relay on students to have access to the internet from home, when many can’t afford nice equipment. Many parents asked school administrations to have teachers guide students if they cannot participate in flipped classroom model because of financial
