Go back to when you were younger and your entire family is over and the smell of freshly baked Christmas cookies is filling your house. Do you remember how happy that smell made you? You would run into the kitchen to try and sneak a warm, freshly baked cookie, repeating this process until you got a stomach ache. Who would let you sneak so many cookies? Only my Grammy would act like it was my first cookie. She is the best baker in the world, and no one could ever beat her Christmas cookies. You try to find someone who can bake just as good as she can, and even your own Mother cannot make them the same way. My Grammy is the reason I began to love baking and all that it entails. Baking, especially cookies, is an essential part of my childhood …show more content…
Learning how to measure each ingredient correctly, can be challenging, but there are many different tips and tricks my Grammy taught me to use so that each cookie comes out perfectly. In baking, it is easier to mix the wet and dry ingredients separately, to be sure there are no lumps in the dough. For instance, when you are preparing the wet ingredients, you must first make sure the butter and eggs are at room temperature so that it will mix evenly and smoothly with the other ingredients. Another tip I learned is that when you are measuring the dry ingredients, such as flour, you must make sure you are not packing the flour into the measuring cup. If you do pack down the flour, you will have too much flour in your cookies and they will not rise as they should. Be sure to add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients gradually, making sure to mix everything thoroughly, or you might end up with flour all over your Grammys kitchen counter and yourself. Another tip is to use an ice cream scoop for measuring out the size of the cookies so that they are even in size. Baking requires exact measurements and even a bit of math when fractions come into play. You will definitely need to know how to add and multiply fractions, because if you are baking for a large group of people, you will have to double or even triple the recipe …show more content…
In my family, we have recipes that have been passed down for generations. Every family has a recipe that they love using for holiday events. My favorite recipe of my Grammys is her chocolate chip cookies. She always puts in just the right amount of chocolate chips, and bakes them to the perfect consistency where the crust is hard, but the middle is soft and melts in your mouth. To begin, read the recipe all the way through and find out what you will need to preheat the oven to, and in the case of the chocolate chip cookies, you will preheat to 375 degrees. The first important thing to begin with in baking is by making sure you have all the ingredients you will need. For the chocolate chip cookies, you will need flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, eggs, and chocolate chips. Then, take out all the ingredients and place them on the counter, putting each of them away as you use them so you don’t reuse any. Also, make sure that you have all the correct measuring tools out, such as measuring cups, spoons, mixers, bowls and baking sheets. Follow the steps of the recipe and mix everything together evenly. Then, use the cookie scoop tip I mentioned earlier to measure the size of the cookies, and place them evenly spread apart on the baking sheet. Lastly, cook the cookies for the allotted time, or a little less as my Grammy does, and then let the cookies cool on a cooling
Step6: take the small cookie cutter place it in the flour, then cut a hole in the middle of big cookies. Take the center out and put it to the side.

Cookies are traditionally made by combining the ingredients listed and adding something like chocolate or nuts. The cookies are then baked at around 375 degrees for about eight minutes or until they are golden brown. They are then allowed to cool and then they are served.
I was getting very exited and was ready to see her results but then, she started making her No-Bake cookies and my excitement went away. She states that all of her ingredients were already at hands reach and her materials close by. But I could not see them. Only thing that was visible was the saucepan on the stove in the background. And what I believe to be a gallon of milk and a bag of all purpose flour, I am not entirely sure because I could only see parts of
To prepare to make the icing, you will need to first gather and measure your ingredients. The items needed to make the icing are: two teaspoons of fresh lemon juice, two large egg whites and three cups of powdered sugar. Start by separating the egg whites from the yolks. Next, whisk together the egg whites and the lemon juice. After this is fully mixed, slowly add the powdered sugar until it is all mixed together. If you would like to color the icing you can add a few drops of any color food coloring that you want. Mix this together and then the icing is
Opening the refrigerator door, I locate two ingredients: eggs and butter. Grabbing the ingredients, I place them on the island sitting vertically in the middle of my rectangular kitchen. I then walk around the island to a cabinet to find baking powder and vanilla extract. Scanning and searching through all the spices and other items, I see the desired components. Finally, I walk across the kitchen to a cabinet standing high on my tippy toes because the protruding countertop makes the cabinet hard to reach. In this cabinet, I find the flour and sugar. I examine all of the goods on the island. The ingredients needed for a sugar cookie recipe, I have made countless times for the last five years.
The three chocolate chip cookie brands tested were Chips Ahoy!, Keebler’s Original Soft Batch, and Cub Foods brand. The three brands were rated on a scale from one to three (three being the best, one the worst) on their flavor, chewiness, and appearance. To score a three on flavor the cookie had to taste delicious and melt in your mouth like ice cream outside on a hot summer day. To score a three on chewiness, it had to be very soft like dough and take a long time to finish. Finally, to rate a three on appearance the cookie had to be very appealing to the taste tester and look delicious to eat. The brand of cookies that scored the highest in each category, I crowned the best chocolate chip cookie in America.
There are the tips and tricks I have acquired over the many batches of cookies I have made that I would like to share. Preparing all ingredients and utensils needed to bake chocolate chip cookies is a breeze. The first step I always take is washing my hands. Simple but when making any sort of food it is always important to wash your hands.
As well as you will then cool the butter and dark chocolate. When the chocolate and butter are almost melted, you can take the warm bowl from the stove and then stir it until you get rid of the last little bits of chocolate. By doing this will cool the chocolate mix more quickly and you won’t have any lumps. Now you will set out the milk and white chocolate. If you don’t have milk and white drops of chocolate, you can cut up some bars of both in small pieces. Put these aside, they will go in at the very

Afterwards, I measured the amount I needed for each ingredient then put into separate containers. Then I had to combine all the ingredients together. For all dry powder ingredients, remember to sift them into the mixing bowl or else it will have lumps while mixing it. I first combined all the wet ingredients like butter, oil and eggs together, whisked them into one egg mixture. Then I sift in the dry ingredients, slowly folding them together. Be very careful on this step, mixing it normally will knock all the air bubbles out of the batter and will affect the fluffiness of the cake. Spray or lightly brush the sides of the cake mold with butter preventing the cake to stick after taking out of the oven. I poured the cake batter into the cake mold and put into the preheated oven. Baking time will differ between recipes, make sure to have the correct time or else the cake will burn. After the cake is done, I took it out and left in on a cooling rack to let it cool down before combining the layers
