Angel. When you hear this word, the first that comes to peoples mind is wings, gracefulness, joy and hope. But would you ever think of saints as a bad thing or evil. Me neither, until the day I turned 16. It all began at six o’clock on Sunday, the day of my birthday. I slept fine yesterday all happy and getting over excited about tomorrow - I even set my alarm for six o’clock in the morning - then when I woke up I had these pains in two places that were indescribable and near my spine. I went down and took two paracetamol to stop the nuisance. Mum, Dad and my little sister were still asleep, but I wanted to get up extra early just for today. I wanted to go Starbucks since it was early, so I went up, got changed and grabbed my purse and out of the doorway. I went down an alleyway, which was the quickest route to Starbucks, as I wanted to get there early to have my morning coffee with a little extra surprise just because it was my birthday. I went down happily minding my own business when a shiver went up my spine as if someone was walking over my grave. Then for a glimpse I saw someth...
Walking out of our house, into the car and driving away to the bookstore, a little ways away we were being watched by someone.
devil, and those angels are known as "demons", as is Satan himself. Satan had been an angel, but decided to do his own thing. Angels can see all aspects of a situation instantly, since they are so very wise.
Authors who write the best books normally don’t have the perfect childhood. What they go through shapes how they see the world and some readers do not agree or understand consequently, the book is banned. From the in-depth imagery to the friendships made during war, the literary masterpiece Fallen Angels, by Walter Dean Myers, uses the horrors of Vietnam War as his back drop but was criticized for his use of profanities and racism.

The term angel derives from a Greek translation of the Hebrew word mal'akh, which first meant "Shadow side of God," and now means messenger (Jeremiah 59). Angels as an article of faith have become an unshakeable part of our society. One in every ten popular songs involves angels in some way (Freeman 2). They appear in paintings and in museums as sculptures. Our culture is filled with angels that appear on clothing, cards, or as souvenirs, and jewelry. It would be reasonable to assume that one might find the most information about angels in the Christian bible. However , the bible only mentions three angels by name and actually contains very little information about these beings. Almost all of the information we have about angelic attributes comes from the three great Chronicles of Enoch. In these chronicles Enoch describes his journey to the ten Heavens where he saw angels in heaven's penal and punishment area, punishing sinners. His view was that hell existed in small pockets that were distributed throughout heaven. This view was not consistent with the later Church that believed heaven and hell were two separate places. Because of this, St. Jerome declared these texts apocryphal (Godwin 9). However, a lot of material from these chronicles appears in the New Testament. Though much of what we know currently about what angels are and what they do is based on misconception and myth, the concern of this paper is with the genus Angelus Occidentalis. This is the term used to describe a number of angelic species and sub-species in Judaism, Islam, and Christianity (Godwin 7). The term angel describes not only the benevolent forces of heaven but also the malevolent forces of hell. When Lucifer fell from ...
All awhile, my Grandmother was giving me a lecture on how important it was for me to go to school and get my education. Further, as I sweat talked my Grandmother out, I started to feel a mild pain in the lower part of my stomach. I did not bother to complain because I knew she was still annoyed with me from my earlier episodes. As the time passed by, the pain became so prominent. During lunchtime, my stomach hurt so badly that I could not eat. Not that I would have, school lunch was always nasty. However, it was different. Although my pain was almost unbearable, I still avoided calling my grandmother. I could hear her voice telling me she does not want to hear it. As the school day came to an end, my pain seemed only to get worse. I held onto my stomach as I walked to the car where my mother was waiting for me. I looked up just in time to see her roll her eyes at me. “What is the matter now, Melinda?” my grandmother said in a sarcastic tone. “Nothing,” I replied, figuring it would be a waste of my time to tell her I was really sick. I wanted to avoid another lecture. By supper time, I was wet with sweat and in so much pain that I could not move a muscle. All I could do was to lie in my bed in pain. My grandmother came up, and I could tell she acknowledged the pain I was in. Nevertheless, she was still hesitant to believe that I was in as much pain as I portrayed. Considering that I had this so many times before, I could not blame her for doubting me. She realized I was not joking when my body temperature read 104 degrees, and she had to rush me to the hospital. While at the hospital, I looked at my grandmother’s face and realized how hurting she was for not
According to the Islamic faith, God created three beings: angels, humans and jinn. Man was made from dust, angels were made from light, and the jinn were made from fire (Ali, 1950). Similar to the Christian faith, Muslims believe in the existence of archangels such as Gabriel and Michael, as well as Satan, whom Muslims believe to be the most well-known jinn. Although the Qur’an states that angels and jinn are immaterial beings, there are still many folktales and superstitions that say otherwise, especially in stories about jinn (Ali, 1950). This paper will explore the origins, roles, and stories about both angels and jinn, providing evidence from the Qur’an, Muslim scholars, and popular tales.

It was a beautiful night. It was perfect for a walk. As I strolled further into the park a figure approached me. It was as dark as pitch so I couldn’t make out who it was. It was late; you wouldn’t usually see anyone at this time. My heart was beating faster and faster. The strange thing was I wasn’t frightened; it was just my heart beating rapidly. As the masculine figure approached, I began to walk slower. That was when I heard the voice.
On that fateful day in March, I was a couple months shy of my third birthday. My family and I lived in New Mexico at the time and were renting a house with an outdoor in-ground pool. The day was beautiful. I was outside with my oldest sister Rachel and my father. Rachel was diligently reading curled up on a bench that sat against the house, and my father was mowing the backyard. My mother and my other sister were in the house. Off to one side of the house there was a group of large bushes. I was playing over there with one of her large cooking pots, off in my own little world. At one point while amusing and en...
My tie flew in the morning wind. The only thing that I hoped was that I would not be late to work, I had been warned a couple of times about me being late. Luckily the bus too was late as usual. As I was boarding the bus I looked up for a vacant seat. What I saw then was quite unbelievable.
A poll that was published in TIME magazine showed that 69 percent of people believe in Angels, 46 percent of which believe they have a personal guardian angel. Descriptions of these angels include a wide range of appearances. Some are only lights or a hovering golden halo; while others describe their angel as human, half human, or even animal! Angels are said to descend upon those who are in need of salvation (from evil or hell), or who need direction in life, in pain or suffering physically or emotionally, or to those who need simple things such as directions or a winning lottery ticket. Angelic encounters are sometimes life-changing, but always leave the experience spiritually/physically/emotionally revived, comforted, and less negative. "Rocky" situations in one's life are handled easier and with less stress.
My story started about a week ago. I was heading to bed early, because I was tired from a long day with plans to wake up a few hours before class to review for a test. As I closed my books for the evening and headed to bed around midnight, little did I know something was going on outside.
The doctrine of angels is called “Angelology” which is one of the ten major categories of theology and angels are a part of those ten studies. Scholars have many views about angels
My mom was incarcerated during the time so I lived with my Aunt Pompom. Aunt Pompom never let me and my cousins wake up late for school and if we did, we were driven. Coincidentally on this day both my cousin Zay and I over slept. So we jump up frantically and start putting on our clothes. In the mist of putting on my clothes I come on my menstrual cycle a week before it is supposed to come on. Then, to top that off when we tried to get my aunt up and she told us “yall over sleeping ass better walk”. She did not care if it was my birthday or not. So sadly Zay and I start walking and little did I know nature was also against me, it started to drizzle. I could feel every drip that dropped on me, I just knew I would smell like a wet dog once I got to school. The feelings I had walking were unimaginable I could have just clasped to the ground right then and there because there was no way my day could be enlightened it been ruined from the moment I
