I decided to revise my argumentative synthesis essay first because this essay just required a lot of attention as I was mostly excited about fixing this essay completely. I started out by deleting and rewriting both of my main body paragraphs. The reason for this was because unlike my first and third essay I had not put any effort into the essay itself as i had a really difficult time writing this particular essay. In more detail it was my first time using sources to the fullest which ended up being more of a challenge than i thought it would. Overall i ended up failing as a writer and ended up rewriting what the sources had to say and i failed in putting it into my own words thus plagiarizing became the heart of the problem so deleting the …show more content…
This paragraph mostly focused on the health benefits that coffee provided. As my third essay required a ton of scientific research this ended up being the easiest paragraph to rewrite. Just like the previous paragraph i deleted all of the plagiarism and ended up rewriting everything in my own words. I wrote specific details in biological context on how coffee benefits our health and body. The knowledge i had gained from writing my informative argument was of big help as i ended up knowing more about this topic than the last time thus i wrote a lot more content. I focused mostly on how coffee can help prevent the risk of type II diabetes and how coffee energizes a person. For example for this body paragraph I provided a lot more detail in the effects coffee has on people stating how caffeine shuts down the chemical in our bodies known as adenosine. Adenosine is a chemical which acts to calm our bodies down which is the reasoning why our bodies feel tired midday. Adenosine is requesting your body to rest. What caffeine does is shut down and prevents adenosine from entering your body and has the opposite effect as it keeps your nerve cells fully active and it keeps your brain fully alert and focused. I also provided scientific articles that backed up my claims, further proving how coffee can reduce the risk of type II diabetes and liver cancer by 50%. I added some quotes from the articles to make this paragraph more
In the introduction, the author has done a good job engaging the audience with emotions, and painting a vivid scene of the seals being slaughtered. This essay does a good job of acknowledging the other point of views. This essay also has a good, clear sense of structure. The author has a strong thesis statement, that gave a clear indication of what the following paragraphs are about.
Many students who are enrolled in FFA are already heading in the right direction to a bright future. FFA has many career benefits within the program. Any of the career development events (CDE’s) have something that will tie to a career in agriculture or to a career of other sorts. According to the National FFA Organization, “FFA members embrace concepts taught in agricultural science classrooms nationwide, build valuable skills through hands-on experiential learning and each year demonstrate their proficiency in competitions based on real-world agricultural skills”(“Statistics”). There are so many careers that tie into FFA, and many of them have to do with agriculture. Not every career that has to do with agriculture is about farming. There are so many different aspects of the agriculture industry that many people never think twice about. Most people are not interested in agriculture because they think it is just about farming or
A synthesis essay should be organized so that others can understand the sources and evaluate your comprehension of them and their presentation of specific data, themes, etc.
Have you ever felt stuck? Wherever you are, it’s the absolute last place you want to be. In the book Into the Wild, Chris McCandless feels stuck just like the average everyday person may feel. Chris finds his escape plan to the situation and feels he will free himself by going off to the wild. I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with many people very well, but he did seem somewhat incompetent, even though he survived for quite some time.
Previous to this course, I had never been exposed to rhetoric, nor did I understand rhetoric and its influence the first time it was introduced to me. In addition to having limited exposure to rhetoric, this was my first real writing assignment for an AP course. The process I used to complete this essay is far different from the process I’ve developed throughout this school year. I allowed my anxiety to override my brain, resulting in me stressing myself throughout the whole writing process. Rather than accepting that I am good enough for an AP course, I doubted my writing skills and drove myself crazy by second-guessing every word and phrase I typed. I relentlessly researched rhetoric, vocabulary, and other writing knowledge, which would be beneficial for the future, but I let all of the writing skills I had not yet acquired prevent me from using the skills I did have to write a great essay. Now, I type everything I have to say about the essay topic and then review my work only fixing what needs to be fixed. At this point in time I had difficulty quoting text; I had to learn how to stop drop quoting and when to use brackets, commas, and ellipses. Looking back on this essay, I wish I had taken notes on the text, as it would have made analyzing structure far easier. I also wish I had asked for help when I felt unsure about rhetoric rather than trying to find answers

Despite the world being full of diverse people with varying accomplishments and skill sets, people oftentimes assume the qualities and traits of an individual based purely on the stereotypes set forth by society. Although these stereotypes are unavoidable, an individual can be liberated, empowered and ultimately overcome these stereotypes by obtaining an advanced education.
Many of the mistakes I would have deemed inconsequential in the past resembles glaring flaws now. The introduction and conclusion paragraphs were where the most work was done. In the introduction, I inserted a hook and blended the paragraph together. I accomplished this by adding transition words and changing the tense to fit the rest of the essay. In the conclusion, I completely started over. The original was bland, boring, and just plain repetitive. In the revised version, I outlined the essay, restated the thesis, and ended by suggestion other applications.
Do you comprehend what “glittering generalities” is? Glittering generalities is a vague word or phrase used to evoke positive feelings rather than to convey information to others. The type of advertisement EvoShield is using is glittering generalities. It’s a black background with a yellow EvoShield logo in the middle and right under it in capital white letters it states ¨Protective Gear For Elite Performance.” EvoShield used that advertisement to convince customers that their product is the best product out and they should buy it. “Protective Gear For Elite Performance” states that EvoShield’s gear/equipment will improve performance and limit errors that you or other equipment will commit.
The epic poem, Beowulf, a work of fiction, offers more insight into Ancient Anglo-Saxon English culture than the work of Bede, who wrote, A History of the English Church and People. The epic poem Beowulf gives an enhanced illustration and clearer understanding of the culture of the Ancient Anglo-Saxon’s. The epic poem gives the audience a picture of what the Ancient Anglo-Saxon English valued; seafaring, warriors, heroes, and paganism.
Television has affected every aspect of life in society, radically changing the way individuals live and interact with the world. However, change is not always for the better, especially the influence of television on political campaigns towards presidency. Since the 1960s, presidential elections in the United States were greatly impacted by television, yet the impact has not been positive. Television allowed the public to have more access to information and gained reassurance to which candidate they chose to vote for. However, the media failed to recognize the importance of elections. Candidates became image based rather than issue based using a “celebrity system” to concern the public with subjects regarding debates (Hart and Trice). Due to “hyperfamiliarity” television turned numerous people away from being interested in debates between candidates (Hart and Trice). Although television had the ability to reach a greater number of people than it did before the Nixon/Kennedy debate, it shortened the attention span of the public, which made the overall process of elections unfair, due to the emphasis on image rather than issue.
Every person has wondered about something - whether it be a person, place, thing, law, or anything that someone can think about. They ask questions both rhetorical and actual to themselves, and usually make it a mission to answer these questions. Some of the biggest questions have something to do with culture and religion. One of the most major questions of all time - to what extent does an individual have control over the outcome of his or her life? There are many different opinions on this topic.
The liberal arts higher education can be similar to any other college but also very different. The liberal arts higher education is not getting the credit it deserves because of some of the things they have done in the past like, the original meaning for the liberal arts was meant to be just for the wealthy and rich people. Liberal arts college have done so many great things that are shown to help better improve their school. Therefore, I will show you that the liberal arts have many different benefits than a regular college and why you should go to a liberal arts college than a regular traditional college. How do liberal arts prepare future educators better than non-liberal arts colleges?
People often times single me out for being a christian. They just love asking me about touchy subjects to see my response. And this is because, unfortunately, there are so many christians who have this idea that the whole world needs to see things the same way they do. You see so much hate coming out of a religion that claims to preach peace and love. Christians see it as protecting the bible but it just comes across as ignorant. I am not saying I don’t share in the opinions of many christians, but more than anything I am saying that christians need to learn that not everyone in the world is going to see it the same way they will. When it comes to sin, same sex marriage, and living a holy life there are more than one opinion on what is right. So, you can’t justify all of the hate-acts in the name of your religion. Instead use all that energy you waste on hate to love and help those around you, despite whether you think they are “right or wrong”. I believe that that’s what God is more concerned about.
When I went through my essay, I first noticed that the sentence structure I used was strange and confusing. With limited writing practice, I was unable to put clauses and prepositional phrases in the right place in a sentence. Sometimes I put too much information in one sentence but did not arrange it in an order that was easy to understand. When I was reading sentences with unusual structure, my thoughts jumped between phrases. Thus, I believe readers will have to put extra effort into understanding the sentence, which interrupted their understandings of the essay as a whole. If I were going to revise it further, I would rewrite long and complex sentences into short but clear ones. For example, sentence...
