What does American dream mean to me? The American Dream has a very special and unique meaning to me. Four years ago I was living in my home country of Iran, a country where women’s rights are contravened and men are always considered superior. Iran does not authorize religious liberation, and censorship is a large part of maintaining placidity. When I peregrinated to America, I had a different dream; a dream that wasn’t controlled by others. Here, I have so much freedom and so many rights that I could decide freely on my own. The American dream is about building edified and self-determined citizens who can make clever, and individual choices for their future as well as the future of America. That power, however, should always be followed under rules, the rules of the American democracy. Even though I have rights, I should be able to follow my responsibilities both as a good citizen and a person in the society. I know that I need to comply with the laws and be responsible for own actions. I need to “stay informed of the issues affecting [my] community” so that could make sage decisions for myself and the country I live in(Citizenship). I should be able to “respect the rights, beliefs, and opinions of others” just as how I optate to have my own rights (Citizenship). Once we have our have the two pieces of the puzzle, we should put them together and decide for our own future. To make good choices in life, we need to be educated. With independence, liberty and equity I can build and contribute to my community. I can decide freely of what I want to do in my life. If I make a deplorable choice I will learn from it on my own, and I will gain more experience as I go on. In my opinion that is the beauty of the american dream.
