In taking the multiple choice practice test over one hour I answered 30 questions correct out of 54. I feel like I did not do the best that I could on this test but at the same time it has given me insight to what I need to work on harder for the actual test. A lot of the questions I got wrong involved going back into the passage to find a word or phrase and stating what it meant or explaining it further. Infact 11 of those 24 questions I answered incorrectly were some variation of those kinds of questions. I feel as though that is a pretty dramatic amount of questions to get wrong that are all of similar kind and that I absolutely need to work on context reading. I never saw this as a skill I particularly needed to work on until this practice
test. Another less prominent problem I seemed to have were questions where I had to state how the author wrote or his tone. There were only a couple questions I made mistakes for on those but it still happened more than once and calls to be looked over and practiced more. I did not think before taking the test that I would actually see a pattern in my incorrect answers so I am very much surprised. I now know exactly what subjects I have to practice more in to become better. I thought that the time restraints were going to be a problem and that I would not finish but I ended up finishing with two minutes to spare. Even with finishing before the hour was up it was still pretty stressful not knowing if I would finish all the questions on time or not. Overall taking the practice test proved to be very beneficial and I now have a clear picture of what I need to work on in the future.
From the start of the American Civil War, 1860, until the end of the Reconstruction, 1877, the United States of America endured what can be considered a revolution. Prior to the year 1860, there was a lack of union because of central government power flourishing rather than state power. Therefore, there was a split of opposite sides, North and South, fighting for authority. One major issue that came into mind was of slavery. At first, there were enactments that were issued to limit or rather prevent conflict to erupt, such as the numerous compromises, Missouri Compromise and the Compromise of 1850. They did not fulfill the needs of the states, South states in particular; therefore, in the year 1860, the Civil War had commenced. There was the issue of inequality of Blacks in suffrage, politics, and the use of public facilities. However, much constitutional and social advancement in the period culminated in the revolution. To a radical extent, constitutional development between 1860 and 1877 amount to a revolution because of events like the Emancipation Proclamation, Civil Rights Act, the amendments that tried to change African Americans lives in American Society and contributed to get the union together. There is the social developments as well that to a lesser extent had amounted to the revolution because of organizations like the Klu Klux Klan, Freedmen’s Bureau lacking, and discrimination against African Americans that caused progression of violence and white supremacy.
I am wondering if the questions or demonstration really captured my true attitude and emotions toward the topic. I felt as if I answered all of the questions properly and accurately. I did take the test second, but only due to the fact that the results from the first attempt stated that there was too many errors to determine a result. However, the second time around I read through the directions thoroughly and took my time answering the questions and statements given. I really do not think the test showed an implicit attitude that I did not know about, because personally I feel differently about the whole matter. Now even when I answered the survey statements and questions to/with agree, disagree, enjoyable, and eye opening. I am now rethinking each survey question. I am questioning myself that I did not really answer the survey truthfully. I cannot really say that this test means a lot to me. Because even with the results my feelings and attitude are still the same and worse. I know this test is supposed to help me find hidden emotions that I did not know I had, but now I still feel that I have not gotten to the true root or conclusion of my problem.
After scoring the survey, I noticed that I scored the highest in the section of During Test Administration with a perfect average score of 5 and scored an average of 4 in the section After Testing. The two lowest sections I scored in were in the General Considerations section with an average score of 3.3 and in the Prior to Test Design section with a score of 3.5. My greatest area of strength in assessment literacy is during the test administration, because I believe I do a wonderful job providing directions for the students, I monitor students and watch them to make sure they are not cheating on each other, and I make sure the testing environment is conducive to high achievement. When my tests are distributed to my students, I make sure to read the directions of each section of the students and ask my students if they need any more clarification on the section directions. If students forget the directions while the test is taking place, I make it a point to clarify them in private and then give the class a reminder for each section.
The Beck Anxiety Inventory was designed by Aaron T. Beck and is self report scale that consists of 21 items. The items are short and straightforward, making it easy to read and comprehend. All items are related to anxiety and describe a symptom of anxiety that is rate on a four point likert scale according to severity. The answers range from 0-3 and the responses range from “not at all” to “severely; I could barely stand it” and all items are added for a total score. The instructions on the test ask for the respondent to “indicate how much you have been bothered by each symptom during the past week, including today, by placing an X in the corresponding space in the column next to each symptom” (Dowd, 2008). The assessment is intended for adolescents and adults and can be administered individually or in a group setting. An additional copy of the inventory test is also available in Spanish. It was originally created from a sample of 810 outpatients of that were predominately affected by mood and anxiety disorders and research on the original development is described as informative and thorough.
America in the 1920’s was a time of great change for its citizens. As incomes and living standards rose, Americans were freely able to enjoy new forms technology and entertainment like never before. But there was also a battle for the moral soul of America brewing underneath. One of the last pushes of the progressive movement was the passing of the Eighteenth Amendment in 1919. It was supposed to be a measure to eliminate some of the vices in the American culture by making it illegal to manufacture, sell, or transport alcoholic beverages. Enforcement of the law however, was difficult and it faced opposition in many states and cities, especially northern cities. With law enforcement unable to fully enforce the law, bootleggers smuggled liquor from the West Indies and Canada, while speakeasies sprung up to provide alcohol illegally. Organized crime expanded to deal with the now lucrative business and they controlled the distribution of alcohol in major American cities, and gangsters such as Al Capone made a fortune while law enforcement officials often looked the other way. Prohibition fueled much debate within the United States until its repeal in 1933.
The test taking lessons have helped me learn more about having good strategies for a test. I feel that with these lessons learned I can have more confidence to take a test and pass it. In this report I want to show why test taking is an important skill to learn. I also wanted to describe how I have prepared for test in the past. I also wanted to discuss three strategies I have learned from the computer tutorial in class and how I have changed my study habits so I can do better on test.

A line like that can surely cause many problematic situations to readers because of the way it is worded and really makes it that much harder for the brain to take in, rather than if it was worded very simple and did not require much thought. That I think is what makes Plato sink in better, because if one has to look back and read a certain part over again numerous times, it will only make it become easier to understand and comprehend for a future reading. I believe in my case the high levels of confusion found me looking back and reading it a number of times, and also asking more questions about the book, thus giving me a much better perspective and understanding of the text. That makes confusion a very useful tool in order to gain a much better understanding of a text. Although confusion is not intentional, it is involuntary, and in the case of Plato much confusion can be found, and much understanding can be gained from that confusion.

After taking exam one, I knew something had to change, I know there’s more for me to improve, and this is just the beginning of finding the perfect method to become an enhanced test taker. Taking the study skills assessment, it’s now clear to me what area’s I need to focus on in order to improve for the next quiz and exam. The study skill assessment clearly determined that my three major concerns were as follows; Time scheduling, Concentration, and Answering difficult questions and taking exams. These are the area’s I whole heartedly agree with because they apply to how well I did on the first exam and are the reasons why I got a C+ (79% to be exact) instead of getting the B-. I feel that the best way to study is to read the text and then read again and make notes. I tend to move through two or three books at the same time looking for similar points, which are phrased in a different way. When assessments are properly developed and interpreted, they can help teachers better understand their students learning progress and needs, by providing the resources to collect evidence that indicates what information their students know and what skills they can perform. Assessments help teachers to not only identify and monitor learners’ strengths, weaknesses, learning and progress but also help them to better plan and conduct instruction.
