In the early Korean history, more prejudices were formed in many people who are different from what people so called “us”. Not many immigrants could mingle with Koreans back in the days. However, now generation experience different people with different views living in Korea together. World has been globalized that many foreigners can be commonly seen in the streets of Korea. Multiculturalism emerged as globalization expanded all over the countries in order to increase cross border interaction to work with various industries across the national boundaries. Bandhobi(반두비)(2009), is a crude political satire film about issues of racism, illegal immigration, and multi-ethnicization which is a well made Korean popular cultural production. In this film, director Shin Dong-il presents transnational heteronization of South Korea through Karim and Min-seo solving and experiencing hardships and obstacles during the story.
This film is a story about multiculturalism presented in Korean culture that displays growing pains and the point of view in different cultures. The title of the film firstly refers to a concept of South Korea as a Racial State and a Multicultural State, Tamunhwa, cultural policy as compensatory and instrumentalist. The title, “Bandohbi” roughly means “female friend” in Bengali. The story starts with the scene of Min-seo, the female main character, eventually tried to run away with a wallet she found on the bus, but soon is caught by its owner – Karim, the male main character who is a migrant worker form bangladesh. He tried to hand over her to a police station, but she offers to do him a favor in order to get away form that situation. Min-seo is a 17-year-old young lady who portrays living in a harsh life as a sophomor...

This film aims to transcend viewers about problems in Korean society such issues as racism, illegal immigration through the characters. Koreans tend to coincide territory, culture and race without realizing themselves. both characters find his former employer, who went strategically bankrupt and owes him a year's worth of wages. The image of immigrant’s life seems very pessimistic since they are helpless. The setting is very important in this film because it leads the viewers to a broad message of tragic circumstances of multicultural industry. Although, nowadays of Korea has been improved and broaden their minds to other ethnicity, we learned a fair amount about Karim, his hardship of culture, religion, friends, and his job and position in Korean society.
