Learning other cultures and perspectives has always been an interest of mine. My family travels for vacation a lot, but while we are there we like to get to know and befriend the locals. We learned that befriending the locals and talking to them helps us avoid situations in which we might offend the culture, because we would never want to go to someone else’s home and do something that would be considered rude or ignorant. One reason I want to go to Norway is because I have never been to a Scandinavian country. Norway stood out to me because of its demographics in regards to ethnicity. I have always lived in an area where there were many people of the same ethnicity. I want to be pushed out of my comfort zone and try to learn about other cultures
Other cultures are interesting because they are different and we don’t usually understand the things that they do and why they do them. Learning about other people’s traditions from all over the world shows the diversity in people’s beliefs, habits and routine occurrences in everyday lives.
Being different from someone not only motivates me to learn, but also use the differences to make something great that could possibly only happen with a multitude of ideas and viewpoints. With my Eritrean background, I would love to incorporate my culture to how I live and learn, but also gain knowledge from those who have different cultures and customs that make them who they are, and grow with the help of each
Living with different kinds of cultures around you is also very knowledgeable to many people. One could learn a lot about someone’s background or country just by interacting or spending some time with them. For example, you can learn about different foods, clothing, fashion, and the kind of lifestyles others might have. Living together helps keeps us in harmony and peace. If we didn’t get along or maybe even share some of the ideas we wouldn’t be such a diverse community. Knowing and underst...
When I was 13, my family bought a farm in Monkey's Elbow, Kentucky. I had been use to the fast pace of the city I had lived in , Frankfort. I had thought transitioning from a city to more of a rural area wouldn’t have a big affect on me, but it did, a major one. In the late summer of 2012 my family bought the farm i now live on located along highway 146. The trips between our houses were unbearable. Lasting around three hours each from the farm to Frankfort several times a day.
new people as well as see new cultures. It has always been a dream of mine to travel
I walked around unsteadily all day like a lost baby, far away from its pack. Surrounded by unfamiliar territory and uncomfortable weather, I tried to search for any signs of similarities with my previous country. I roamed around from place to place and moved along with the day, wanting to just get away and go back home. This was my first day in the United States of America.
Have you ever had to move to another state? If you have move to another state, I know how you feel. You might had have friends that you were really close to, but then it turns out that you have to leave them because your parents got a new job or something else happened. Well let me tell you my experience, based on why I had to move.
Life is full of experiences and exploration. In life everyone have something that has changed the way they recognize things. Most things change a person’s perception because of the experience they had in the past. I never imagined that my life would ever change. Being born in a different country and end up in a different place could be very hard and frustrating.
It was a beautiful, sunny day in South Florida. I was six years old, playing by the pool with my new puppy. I loved swimming in the pool almost every day after school. I also enjoyed going out on our boat after school or crossing the street and going to the beach. My father came home one evening with some interesting news. Now, I do not remember exactly how I felt about the news at that time, but it seemed like I did not mind that much. He had announced that we were going to move back to my birth country, Belgium. I had been living in Florida for five years and it was basically all I had known so I did not know what to expect. I had to live with my mom at first, and then my sister would join us after she graduated high school and my father finished settling things. I remember most of my earlier childhood by watching some old videos of me playing by the pool and dancing in the living room. It seemed like life could not get any better. However, I was excited and impatient to experience a new lifestyle. I realized that I could start a whole new life, make new friends and learn a new language. Belgium was not as sunny as South Florida but it has much better food and family oriented activities. Geographic mobility can have many positive effects on younger children, such as learning new languages, being more outgoing, and more family oriented; therefore, parents should not be afraid to move around and experience new cultures.
Learning about yourself, learning your own historical roots. Learning about different cultures, seeking different insights of the culture. We get rich by having experiences with cultures and traveling getting to know different cultures (Clay, 2010, pg. 24). This is one thing no one can take from you.
Coming to a totally new country can be difficult if a person has no knowledge about the country. It's stressful when the language makes it difficult to communicate with others. Its also embarrassing when a grown person has to ask what does the sign above a shelf, says or when people can’t help out because they simply can’t understand what you are trying to say.
Different cultures, or environments make up how people live their lives and how they may act on a daily basis. These cultures are common all throughout the world, even throughout the different places within the United States. Going on my school trip to New York City made me aware of these cultures changes and when are plane landed back in Minnesota I was so thankful to be back to the places and faces I had always been used to.
I have also explored my own culture to better my understanding of the world. Being primarily of the German descent, I have embraced this within myself and have learned so much. By actively getting involved with the culture I have met with the German Ambassador to the United States, became semi-fluent in the language, and have taken part in numerous German oriented events around the country. By immersing myself in the culture I have begun to better understand myself and how the German people live and
Exploring new cultures has always been exciting to me and has constantly caught my curiosity since I was younger. My personal experience with trying new things has always been successful and I have a tendency to go back and continue to learn about them. I’ve never really explored in depth in certain cultures other than Latin American countries and some European cuisine through my culinary arts class, but, I have always wanted to learn more about other countries but my resources have been limited because books cannot truly describe the experience of being there. I have a passion for food and everything about cooking and baking while using different techniques I learned from other cultures than my own has only sparked my interest about them.
The world is full of wonders and once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, that we take advantage of. Traveling is the ultimate education and it never fails as a teacher. It teaches you things no class can about the world and yourself. Seeing a historical spot and being in the environment it is in teaches you what no text book can. Most people hear about what is happening in the world through the bias not understanding media. However, if you are a traveler the real world influences you in a way the media will never be able to. We understand how the world works with its many cultures and lifestyles. Being a part of and experiencing different cultures broadens your views of the world and changing’s what you think of the world. Having expanded knowledge and understanding about culture is not the only thing travelers have. Finding your true self and learning about who you are is the best thing about being a traveler. There is no better way to find yourself because when you travel you open yourself up to millions of opportunities. Without travel you may be completely unaware of your true persona. Your limits are tested and you are completely out of your comfort zone when traveling. Getting out of the comfort zone helps you grow as a person and see your potential. I have experienced many different cultures that have personally changed myself and my outlook of the world. Traveling has given me the greatest education I know more about the world, cultures, and myself. Being a traveler is a huge blessing in my life I am so glad I am able to travel and see the world. Nothing can take away the memories that traveling and being a traveler has brought me. Get out there and see this beautiful world for yourself and become a traveler, you will not regret
