Fahim Uddin The “cult film,” “Harold and Maude” was definitely a more than an interesting movie. I did not know what a “cult film” was and this was the first cult classic movie I saw. However, I must agree as to why this movie is considered to be a cult classic. I, myself became a solid fan of the movie after watching it. Being part of the modern era of Hollywood movies, it was even more surprising to actually watch this movie. Nowadays, the movies are very fast going, with high frame rates. However, this classic movie was probably shot at less than 24 frames per second, whereas now it’s in the 50s and 60s. I really enjoyed this movie. This was a movie where audience really felt being present through the dialogues. The movie was about life
Overall I think that the show was worth seeing, even though I let my parents pick the film--which I will never do again by the way-- I think that it was a good production. It was a little boring at first, which might have just been because I didn’t really want to see it in the first place, but the storyline was pretty good. I personally like humor, so I tend to pick shows that I know will have some humor, but I’m proud of myself for seeing something outside of my comfort zone.
I personally thought this was a great film, although initially I thought it might be boring. Once I got past the older production quality and immersed myself into the story, I enjoyed it. I can see why this film is a cinematic classic, especially with the memorable dialogue. My favorite lines came from Carr, the floor walker. He seemed to know his job like the back of his hand. “Any man loses his spoon; he spends the night in the box”.
Harold and Maude is a cult classic from the 1970’s that defined film making today. The movie based around a young man named Harold Chasen, and an old woman Maude. Harold seems to have a bizarre psychological fascination with death. While Maude is also interested in death; she enjoys living as well and has lived her life to the fullest. Both are brought together while attending funerals simply because they enjoy them. Maude begins to influence and change Harold’s perceptions and attitudes about life. Harold and Maude are polar opposite, in age, but the time they spend together will help Harold live his life better and more fulfillingly.
The Film, Harold and Maude, which was released in the year 1971, follows a 20 year old boy, Harold, with a narrow view on life. He spends his time attending funerals of people he does not know and faking suicides in attempts for his mother’s attention. She however finds his actions immature and foolish, thus showing the strain on their relationship. One day however, at a random funeral, Harold meets Maude, a 79 year old women with a zest for life. She is fun-loving and happy at all times. Their friendship grows as Harold’s mother simultaneously tries to find him a wife. Harold soon develops an intimate love for Maude that she reciprocates. Harold’s spirits are lifted and he breaks from his unhappy existence by leaving his mother to marry Maude.
Overall I like the movie because it is emotionally raw with a considerable amount of violence and action that isn’t senseless and is instead a product of the emotional rawness of it all. Also because the Ho Yay between Orange and White is considerable and it makes for a rather interesting watch.
Throughout the entire film, there are lessons that are being taught. Whether is the central theme of not judging someone by their skin color but by their character or showing the essence of what the meaning of family really is. Through the setting, acting, and relationships shown it all comes together to make the perfect film. I recommend this film be seen by everyone at least once in their lifespan, because the lessons that are depicted in there are valuable. It is the perfect movie to go see with your family and makes you grateful and thankful for everyone that you have in your life. The film brings joy, happiness, tears, laughter and much more. I can truly say that the movie is worth purchasing and viewing.
was a spectacular film there were some things that I did not enjoy like, the
Finally the movie is a good movie. Actually this movie doesn’t need any improvement. The writer, actresses, and actors did their best. They tried to make a point and be a creative about it and that is exactly what they did. It is an amazing movie. I
I would say the target audience for this film would be people who enjoy musicals, no matter their age. The time lag would only have much of an effect for younger generations who do not remember the 1960's and the discrimination and the political actions that were being taken during that time period. The film is still a classic I would say because of all of the wonderful costumes, dancing, singing, acting, and clever story telling through songs. I can definitely see why this film was a popular success then as it still is today.
Although I enjoyed the main portion of the movie, there were some obvious likes and dislikes in my opinion. I believe that I learned from this movie and it helped me understand more of what the people of that time were feeling.
This film was very inspirational to me. It showed the different situations that deaf people used to have to go through and how troublesome it was for them and still can be today. It showed how they were treated differently than the other people and also the long time that the children spent in speech therapy. It also showed some short clips of videos that deaf people had made.
In my own opinion I think this film is great. I think this because it
The movie doesn’t only cover a lot on existentialism, but does a fantastic job of encouraging people to stray away from the “bigger picture” and add value to the “littler picures”.
I like the film very much. I think its one of the best films I’ve seen ever. The comedy in the film is just my humour, and the action was okay.
