The Hunger Games has all the necessary prerequisites of solid movie. It is aesthetically pleasing, visually impressive and well-written (especially for an adaptation of a first-person narrative). The emotional weight of the movie is shouldered by Jenifer Lawrence, who plays the film’s hardened heroine Katniss Everdeen, and the supporting cast’s performances are all well above average. Most of the actors and actress are very young and do not that much experience. Finally the movie is a good movie. Actually this movie doesn’t need any improvement. The writer, actresses, and actors did their best. They tried to make a point and be a creative about it and that is exactly what they did. It is an amazing movie. I The Hunger Games. Dir. Gary Ross. The Hunger Games was a good movie when it came out. This movie refers to a dystopia world in which there are 12 districts and a capitol who rules with an iron fist, in which the districts must provide a tribute to fight in an annual Hunger Game as a punishment for a past rebellion. Katniss Everdeen is a hunter from the 12th district, which Gale, her friend gives her tips on hunting. One day her sister, Primrose Everdeen, is chosen for the Hunger Games, and in order to save her, she volunteers instead to serve in the Games along with Peeta Mellark. During a TV interview, Peeta confesses her love for Katniss Everdeen, which causes the enragement of the latter; however, she later forgives him as he explains to her that it was only to gain sponsors. During the Hunger Games, she did not receive a lot of supplies except some medicine to cure a wound, but Districts 1 and 2 almost won the Game due to their training, and amount of supplies which Katniss destroys but cannot recover any of them. The Hunger Games was one of the best movies I ever watched because it has a little bit of everything and it captures the real-life survival game that we live on a daily basis.

Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take part in the annual Hunger Games, a game where kids from each district fight to the death. She is partnered with a guy named Peeta from the same district. The hunger games by Suzanne Collins was published in 2008.It shows the relationship between family and how important family is. Katniss and Primrose the two sisters who live in poverty with their mother in Panem. So how does the book The Hunger Games, show the relationship between siblings and family members and the desire to protect and keep them safe?
The Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, was released in 2012. The film is about a young girl who lives in one of the twelve districts of the Capitol of Panem. To keep these districts from resorting to war like past times, the capitol now forces one girl and one boy to fight to the death until only one remains. Jennifer Lawrence, staring as Katniss Everdeen, has been chosen to represent district 12. The film uses many different elements to display all the emotional and physical struggles Katniss must endure while participating in the games.
“Books and movies are like apples and oranges. They both are fruit, but taste completely different” said, one of the famous authors, Stephen King. Exactly, as stated, all people have different tastes; somebody would prefer to read a book rather watch a movie, somebody would prefer other way round. “The Hunger Games” is a perfect example of story, when the book and the movie are equally breathtaking and unforgettable. Suzanne Collins, the famous American writer, released the first novel of the trilogy “The Hunger Games” in 2008. The story about young women Katniss Everdeen, who fights with the fortune to just stay alive, became popular; therefore, the film director Gary Ross presented a film adaptation of “The Hunger Games” in 2012. By comparing and contrasting supporting characters, perspective, and love theme, it is clear that the movie, “The Hunger Games” (Gary Ross, 2008) has serious flaws; however, they do not ruin the overall picture.
In a not-too-distant, some 74 years, into the future the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 13 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games; these children are referred to as tributes (Collins, 2008). The Games are meant to be viewed as entertainment, but every citizen knows their purpose, as brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts. The televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eradicate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. The main character throughout the series is a 16-year-old girl from District 12 named Katniss Everdeen.
The Hunger Games- “a futuristic dystopian society [Panem] where an overpowering government controls the lives and resources in twelve different districts” (The Hunger Games). The overpowering government lives in the Capitol of Panem and from there controls the citizens of the twelve districts through propaganda and other means. The Capitol has all of the economic and political power in Panem; they have complete control. The leader of the capitol is the harsh, dictator-like figure, President Snow. President Snow’s methods for keeping order in the districts are through Peacekeepers and the annual Hunger Games. The Peacekeepers are an army that monitors each district. Any sign of rebellion, and the Peacekeepers take care of it, usually by killing the rebel in some way. The annual Hunger Games are used to remind all of the citizens of Panem about the uprising in the now obliterated District 13. The Hunger Games, in a way, brainwashes all of the citizens, but a select few such as Katniss Everdeen, to believe that an uprising would be horrible and is not necessary and that the Capitol does what is best for all of the citizens. The Hunger Games films did not follow the books. In the first film of the series, “The Hunger Games”, there were many differences. Though most were minimal, a few really stuck out. The mockingjay pin is received differently in the book than in the movie. In the book, Katniss receives the pin from Madge Undersee, the daughter of the mayor of District 12. In the film, Katniss receives the pin from Greasy Sae. Receiving the pin from Greasy Sae, removed a character from the movie. Madge was never mentioned. Another difference that disappointed me was, the dogs that appeared in the ending of the Hunger Games. In the book, the dogs were described as having characteristics of the dead tributes. In the movie, it was just large vicious dogs chasing Katniss, Peeta and Cato. The book went more into detail about death and the vulgar attacks by the contestants. In the films, these scenes were limited to keep the films rated PG-13. Fans lose some interesting characters, the plot is different, and the the violence described in the book is not displayed in the
The contest within The Hunger Games is rooted deep in the film's backstory, in which the nation of Panem was rocked by a civil war. Twelve oppressed Districts rose up against an oppressive Capitol, and the end result of this civil war was a Capitol victory (Hunger Games). In response to the rebellion of its outer provinces, the government of Panem decreed the creation of the Hunger Games, in which each District would send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to fight in a battle to the death, until only one Victor emerged supreme, who would then, “be showered with glory”, by the Capitol, in order to show the mercy and kindness of their overlords (Hunger Games).... ... middle of paper ...
There are many similarities and differences between the novel and film version of “The Hunger Games” that can change the audience’s opinions. HoweverHere are five similarities that an audience can spot out in the novel & film, “The Hunger Games”. First, the setting and characters are nearly the same as some people imagined. Another similarity is when they have already reached the Capitol and Peeta says in his interview that he has loved Katniss since they were in kindergarten. Also, when at the parade Katniss and Peeta’s outfits catch on fire. Finally, the last of many similarities between the novel and film is that Rue signaled Katniss to cut the branch with the tracker jacker nest and let it fall on the other Districts that chased Katniss up the tree.
Can you imagine living in a society where once a year they take twenty-four kids from ages twelve to eighteen, and make them fight till the death. Well that is the exact society that they live in in the Hunger Games by, Suzanne Collins. However when you live in a society like this you have to stick together with your friends and your family. Which is the theme of this book. Katniss Everdeen who is the main character in this book sticks with her friends and family a lot in this book. From the way that she provides for her family and volunteers for her sister, the way that she protects Rue, and by how she is with Peeta at the end.
The Hunger Games is about mainly two characters. A girl named Katniss Everdeen and a boy named Peeta Mellark are those two. These two compelling characters get selected to be the two tributes from District 12 to compete in an arena made by Gamemakers where they fight to the death. Each of the 12 districts has a boy and a girl selected as tribute so there are 24 of them fighting to the death. The week before the games start all of the tributes have preparation and are mentored throughout that whole week. Once the games start the 24 tributes all have their own strategies and are trying to win. Katniss and Peeta both venture off their own ways and eventually end up teaming up to win the games and face many challenges along the way. Overall, The Hunger Games is
The plot of the movie fits a classic tentpole film theme a super hero fights against all odds, good vs evil, oppressive government vs. powerless people, wealth & decadence vs. poverty & despair, a battle to death. There is also a certain sadness in the film as the tributes fight for everything that they believe in. As seen in this movie clip when one of the contestants tells Katniss make them pay for it youtube clip. Collins states that she drew inspiration “from the Greek myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. As a punishment for past crimes, Minos forces Athens to sacrifice seven youths and seven maidens to the Minotaur, by whom they are killed in a vast labyrinth”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hunger_Games_trilogy
