The Memories That Will Stick For A Lifetime. The human body has the ability to retain many things and memories are one of them. Some memories go here and there and a few stay in reach, and those are the ones that mean the most to you. One of my memories that I doubt I will ever forget and hope I won't, is going to Moosehead with my girlfriend Amber. I met Amber through a program at the Midcoast School Of Technology where we were both actively engaged in the same program. Whenever we had to pair up with people Amber and I were always the last ones left in the class so we always worked together. As the year progressed we got to know each other and started dating. She had left for Moosehead the day after I asked her out and didn't return for …show more content…
The views were amazing and they set a mood that made everyone ecstatic to be there. We unloaded the car laughing and joking. After we unloaded the car Amber took me down by the water and we just sat there looking at the lake and taking in the views, I thought the views were amazing on the ride up, I was so wrong. We had campfires out by the lake, stayed up late, took in the sights, saw the crashed B-52, and went on a few moose rides trying to find one. The end of the trip approached and I could feel that nobody wanted to go back home, that was the longest ride in my life. Amber and I happily kept pursuing our relationship for about a month longer and then we went back up to Moosehead. I was nervous about going up this time, the owners of the camp would be up there. I met Dana and Annette and got to know them, Dana is a fisherman and Annette is a stay at home wife and grandmother. We went out on a moose ride that night and saw a few moose, Dana spotted the silhouette of three moose. We went back to camp and played board games and had a bon-fire. The next morning I woke up and all the girls decided to go shopping after breakfast so the guys and I decided to go target practicing, Russell, Ambers father, brought his Miniature 14,
It was going to be the time of our lives. Four buddies of mine and I went out to Jackson, Wyoming to do some of the best snowboarding of our lives. It was our chance to get away from home for a week and have the best time of our lives. The trip out there was extremely boring driving through Iowa, Nebraska, and Wyoming. Possibly the three most boring states in the country.
I was shooting the bow and asked my dad how i could improve on my skills, so he told me not to look till i hear my arrow hit my target. I had to leave shortly after this because i had to help set up a stand for a friend, I was so happy because he was taking me hunting after. I put my bow in the case and threw the bowcase in the house. I was off with kevin with nothing but a deer stand. We hopped
Memory is defined as “the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information” (“Tmesis”, n.d.). Memory is purely mental. Everyone has memories, either pleasant or unpleasant, but they are still there. They are an essential part of who we are and without them, we would struggle to establish our identity. Memory is not only images of the past, but emotions too. They are the main reason a memory is either stored or forgotten.
The weather that day wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. It was gloomy and it would drizzle once in a while. I enjoyed the drive up to LA, even with a little rain. It took us about an hour and 50mins. We left around 1:00 pm and arrived around 2:50pm. The good thing about the drive was that we didn’t get lost. The only bad part was the traffic. We both expected to get traffic but not as bad.
It is of course known that humans compile thousands of memories throughout their lifetime. While memories often fade sometimes to the point of being forgotten over time, certain memories can have a lasting impact that does not fade no matter how old the memory becomes. The Road by Cormac McCarthy explains, “Just remember that the things you put into your head are there forever, he said. You might want to think about that.
A memory can be a powerful thing to a person. Memories cultivate our perceptions of someone you are related to or something such as the topic of war. Also a memory that means something to you may have a different meaning to someone else. Such as when I was younger I have a memory of my brother in law being in the paper for putting out an enormous fire and saved a life. I thought of him as a hero and remember it being a joyous memory but to him it was the opposite. He remembers it as having to jump through windows into blazing fire, fighting off the crowd who had pulled their cars over the fire hose, and walking in to find it was too late for a person living in the house. After have putting out the fire, he walked out to raging crowd screaming at them they did not do everything they could. The memory was an unpleasant and unsettling one to him. In “My Papa’s Waltz” by Theodore Roethke and “Dulce et Decorum Est” by Wilfred Owen people see their memories as one way but it means the complete opposite to them.
Over all I had an amazing trip to Niagara Falls! I got to spend time with my family and we all had fun. I had new experiences that I could now share with others and I’m pretty sure my family does also. This is the trip I will never forget.
Remembrance is an integral part of our everyday lives. Both pleasant and unpleasant memories shape who we are as human beings. The definition of memory is two fold 1. “the faculty by which the mind stores and remembers information” and 2. “Something remembered from the past; a recollection” (Google Definition). The life of memory has three stages in which it is created. An event occurs in ones life it becomes encoded and stored in the brain. Following the encoding, the brain then has full access to retrieve the memory in a response to any current activity or thought. Memories are unique to each person. There are three main types of memories that are studied. An individual memory is one that is formed by his or her personal experiences. An institutional
Memory is a fickle thing, often when recalling memories, one does not completely recall the whole truth. Often, one stretches the truth or lies about certain memories. In addition, memories are important because without memory there would be not past self, only our present self. Meaning there will be no concept of self-identity.
... to the ocean to relax, socialize, and enjoy food and drinks on me. At the end of the night, everyone I had brought together was very thankful that I organized the trip because we had the chance to enjoy everyone’s company given that we do not all get to do that very often.
In just a few minutes, I knew where she lived, that she had an older sister and her mom's name was Birdie. Before she left, she even invited me over to her parents' house for our very first date. We were both fifteen, so dating was fairly new to both of us. We exchanged phone numbers before she left.
Memory is something that happened before. It is realistic and truth. It records both our happiness and annoyance. No matter what happens on you, it is your unique thing that no one can replace.
As if to conclude our white water rafting adventure, members of my family began recalling which parts of trip they liked the most and which parts they disliked. My family and I decided that we enjoyed the trip and would like to do it again if we got the chance. We all had a lot of fun and got a chance to be together. I learned how fun, dangerous, and scary rafting can be.
We met up at the uni foyer after class and walked to Sunway pyramid together using the canopy walk. On the way to Sunway pyramid we did talk but it was mostly all yes/no question, in my opinion the walk to the canopy walk was super awkward since we didn’t know what to say to each
One of the most enjoyable things in life are road trips, particularly to the Colorado mountains. Getting to spend time with your family and friends, while being in a beautiful place, is irreplaceable. The fifteen-hour road trip may feel never-ending, but gazing at the mountains from afar makes life’s problems seem a little smaller and causes worries to become a thing of the past. Coming in contact with nature, untouched, is a surreal experience. My family trip to the Colorado mountains last summer was inspiring.
