The threat of infectious diseases, especially during outbreaks, can have a significant impact on mental health. As an attending physician in the psychiatric department, I understand the importance of addressing the psychological effects of such situations. Personally, the recent outbreak of corona virus caused me a great deal of stress and worry, even though I was not directly affected too severely and managed to avoid a lockdown. The constant media coverage and the high mortality rate of the disease triggered feelings of anxiety and fear, which manifested in difficulty sleeping and concentrating. By implementing these suggestions, I expect patients to feel more in control, better equipped to handle their emotions, and experience an overall improvement in their mental well-being.
