Introduction Public health preparedness is one of the most vital tools to build capability, proficiency and direction on how the public health system should be prepare for, respond to and recover from any given situation pertaining to emergencies of mental and behavioral health of citizens. Public health laws are any laws that have important consequences for the health of defined populations (Goodman, et al., 2006). The primary function of Public Health Laws Program (PHLP) is to improve all public health systems to be to function effectively in given emergency, pertaining to chronic diseases, emergency threats and other national public health priorities in a timely manner. What are the key concepts/constructs under study? Are operational definitions provided? Key concepts are essential in a research paper focusing on the important issues, and gives direction. The concept of this journal is lack of knowledge of laws in the public health arena. Jacobson et. al., (2012), stated most local public health officials rely on what they think the legal environment is, but their perception generally does not equal to the laws enacted. It is imperative that training be implemented to all public health practitioners to understand the procedures step by step. Running head: The Role of Law in Public Health Preparedness 4 Are the measures reliable and valid based on the variables under consideration? The variables in this article identified the need for preparedness, training and public health laws to be implemented. This journal also identified that the lack of preparedness was not only an issues with the public health practitioners, but also with the legislative and executive branch officials. What type of data and statistical analysis were undertaken? Were they appropriate? The data and statistical analysis that was utilized was interviewing citizens in nine different states. What are the specific findings of the study? How are those findings related to the literature review? There were significant finding and issues that can weaken and challenge the actual responses to public health emergencies in this country. Because of the lack of knowledge by the official in public health is very detrimental in the health care field.
