Miss Representation addresses the important issue of how women are presented in the media and how it can badly influence women. This film does a good job on delivering such a powerful message to women. I, myself, was in shock of how the media is portraying women to be represented as the “sexual” and “seductive” figure. The statistic that I found to be very eye opening was how American teenagers spend about 10 hours and 45 minutes a day looking at the media. I was just mind blown how this is in fact true of this day and age because I, myself, spend about close to that amount of time. While there were a lot of things to cover on, I will mainly focus on how women’s bodies are represented through the media. I for one am thankful that I have never been affected by the media, mainly because I don’t watch American TV shows. There are a lot of movies where women play the role as being “sexy”. Women in Hollywood movies are always dressed sexy and they always try to seduce the man by the way they dress. There was a clip shown in the film where Megan Fox was wearing a booty short and a tank top just to impress her man. This can also be seen in reality tv shows such as Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I have never seen an episode of this show but one can already tell that the women are always dressed as being sexy. The news is also a great example of what they should be wearing. In the film, they addressed the issue of women dressing inappropriately. The women reporters are wearing low cut shirts, skirts that are too low to show their long legged bodies, lots of makeup, and their hair looking perfect. An analyzer mentioned how they tend to look like waitresses instead of newscasters because of the way they are
