In chapter three of the book, I found an interesting section related to mindfulness training (from the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy). It explains how important it is to help clients become mindful and aware of the present moment in order to enjoy their sexual interactions. I believe this is a key element in life in general. It is easier to say we need to be present and aware than do it every day. We get caught up with our thoughts about future events and concerns that we forget to enjoy the moment. Thus, it is essential that clients have mindfulness training for them to learn how to enjoy life each moment (Murray, Pope, & Willis, 2017). I also found skills training to be important in the counseling session because there are cases in which clients
do not know how to make themselves feel good. I agree that communication is an essential skill in a relationship as client’s sexual needs should be communicated effectively with the other person (Murray, Pope, & Willis, 2017). Questions 1-In this chapter, I really enjoyed reading about Cognitive-Behavioral therapy interventions because that has been my desired approach since I started studying Psychology and Mental Health Counseling in this program. I think that educating clients is a great way to start in order to create a foundation of knowledge from which clients can learn to decide what is best for them (in terms of health and satisfaction). 2-Regarding mindfulness training, what would be the activities counselors use to promote mindfulness in clients? I would like to implement a meditation session to my therapeutic approach as an activity to promote mindfulness. However, I would like to learn more activities, so I can help my clients and even add those activities in my daily life.
“...We’re walking around with a complete health care system inside our own body.” Keesling does a pretty good job of emphasizing the this idea throughout the entire article. I must admit that from personal experience I do indeed agree with Keesling in that sex is great for the mind and body, as well as the fact that it could even be used as therapy for menstrual problems. She also makes a point of stating that “...sex also creates an emotional and physical bond that is essential...”. I agree, because it is also my experience and belief that although sex is not the entire relationship, it surely makes up about 80% of it, and if there is an inability to be open about one’s sexual life with thier partner, then one will never be able to attain a health tight bond with their other half.
The one skill that I used more of was empathy; I wanted the client to know that I understood her situation as well her feelings. At the end of our conversation, I summarized everything that we talked about, especially her want to open up to her parents and express herself to them. She mentioned that she wants them to fell empathy towards her, because the lack of parental empathy that she felt when she was younger, has even affected her in her adult life (Kilpatrick,2005).
Are you certified in a counseling approach or have you gone to trainings for a counseling approach?

Therapeutic professional communication requires specific, well defined professional skills. These communications take place between a person who has a specific need and a person who is skilled in techniques that can alleviate or diminish that problem (Tamparo & Lindh, 2008). The foundation of a competent therapist is built upon the ability to communicate effectively. They must be able to adjust to a variety of environments and individuals, while managing personal influences such as culture, economical status, and moral values. Human relations skills translate directly into social and therapeutic communications when there is contact with persons seeking attention (Tamparo & Lindh, 2008).
The counseling session should be centered on the client and their understanding of their world and/or problems not heavily weighted on the counselor interpretation of the client’s situation. The role of the counselor is to examine a problem needs changing and discover options in overcoming their problem. Bringing about change can help change the client’s narrative on their problem in the future and/or on life in the process.

The counselor accomplishes the above by expressing empathy, developing discrepancies, going along with resistance and supporting self-efficacy. Moreover, the counselor guides the client toward a solution that will lead to permanent posi...
These methods explain destructive sexual experiences. She sees sexual energy as a neutral force, the three level that she talks about the focus on caring, respect and safety. The level +2 is the making love it's more focused on pleasure and experimentation. The level+3 is the sexual intimacy the person has, to be honest, and open the last one is level +1 which is positive role fulfillment, the level can be a problem in a relationship if there is no respect, I do not want any negative consequences in my relationship. This information might help me in the future to teach others about. Negative consequences in a relationship especially went people not honest about their circumstances or health condition. Some of them don't want to have children but they refused to protect themselves from the unwanted pregnancy
I believe nearly all my skills require further development, but the skills I feel require the most attention and development is control of myself and how I listen to my client. My own values and assumptions I feel are hampering my development of skills. Ways I can improve on this is by doing my own research into different or opposing values and assumptions and finding their positives and finding the negatives within my own, to help find a more balanced practice. The way I listen could greatly improve as it took Lucy pointing out how she wanted and/or needed support from me, for me to make the session more productive. As I need to listen equally to answers of inaction and answers of action. And focus more on listening to Lucy and not problem solving, as I said during our session “you’re safety and [those] around you are safe … are the ultimate goal of our session’s”. (Harms, 2007; Ivey & Ivey, 2007; Trevithick, 2005). The analysing and planning of further development of my skills has given me hope within my current short-comings, and my future
In this part of the assignment, I will be reviewing the strengths and weaknesses that were shown when I was using counselling skills on my client. I believe that there were more strengths when I was showing counselling skills compared to the weaknesses that there were.
The initial study, implemented in 2005, surveyed thirty people, who proclaimed they have “great sex”; the initial finding of these thirty people found six different components of optimal sexuality. With their follow up study,
At the beginning of my mindfulness journey, I felt frustrated as I began to realize how much I struggled with being in the present. I could not focus and I struggled to make it five minutes of practice. In the first two weeks, mindfulness felt like a chore. As I sat down to practice I would feel defeated each time. I did not really understand the point of mindfulness as focusing on breathing felt meaningless to me. My mind would wander each time I tried to focus on breathing and I began to realize how hard it was to still and control my mind. I knew that I was supposed to feel more relaxed and connected with my mind and body, but after each practice I felt more frustrated with myself. In the beginning I began to realize
