Military Leadership Philosophy Examples

I believe that as a leader we should all have a leadership philosophy that we live by and teach our subordinates to live by as well. However, even at this stage in my life I still have yet to figure out what my leadership philosophy really is. Crazy right that at the rank of SFC with 18 years in the United States Military, I do not have this one simple thing figured out. As I write out my thoughts pen to pad hopefully I can come up with something that makes sense is enlightening and that I can pass on to my soldiers as a guide. So that as they enter into the Senior Enlisted ranks they are better equipped then I to lead there soldiers. I strive as a leader and a person to live fully each day, laugh often and love intensely. I strive every day to have more patience, to say kinder words, to gossip less, be a good friend, good teacher, and a good mentor. In addition, I try not to be too hard on myself when I do not always succeed at those things, which is often I might add! Then I remind myself to remember that all I can do is try harder next time and learn from my mistakes and hope that my soldier see that I am imperfect and just as they are. I think it very important to believe in one’s self and have faith in ones abilities to lead. “As a Greek philosopher of great courage who fight against his opponent with his knowledge and wisdom.
