Middle adulthood is considered a period where self-acceptance is most favorable, increasing psychological well-being and life satisfaction (Arnett, 2015). During this phase in development, adults become more secure with themselves and are honest to their true selves instead of acting or pretending to be someone different. This new-found identity development is strengthened by a heightened sense of self-understanding (Arnett, 2016). Additionally, in middle adulthood, the heart muscles becomes more rigid, making intense workouts, when the heart has trouble delivering the appropriate amount of oxygen to compensate for the aerobic activity, more difficult (Arnett, 2015). Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and diet can help hinder the risk of cardiovascular disease that increases during middle adulthood (Arnett, 2015). In fact, research has proven that the risk for illnesses and diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and several types of cancers, in middle adulthood can be reduced by incorporating exercise into a regular routine (Arnett, 2015). However as time progresses into late adulthood, exercise can only deter or hinder the signs and effects of aging, not eliminate them. Dubbed “emerging adulthood” by psychologist Jeffrey Arnett, plopped smack dab in the middle of adolescence, and adulthood, this phase captures any, and all doubts that 20-29 year olds are plagued with. From their economic standing, to racial, ethnic, and identity issues, and to disabilities ranging from both mental, and physical, this phase captures every single uncertainty, fear, and qualm that one person can possibly have in a neat little package.

Now, when considering one wants to prevent or treat Osteoporosis, it does not mean to cut yourself off of foods with small portions or extreme dieting. It is a common misconception that when a person wants to be healthy they must eat in smaller portions, and while this does have some truth, one must consider when it comes to eating healthy, it means to eat healthy by adding nutritious portions of fruits, vegetables, protein, carbs, and of course, calcium intake for the bones in one’s diet. For all teens, the transition into adulthood is generally seen as a challenging and scary process. For teens diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as well as their caregivers, this transition is often more complicated. The period of transition for individuals with ASD into adulthood is intensely more challenging due to their “unique characteristics, the lack of services that address the special needs of such individuals in adulthood, and the expectations of society for a typical path to adulthood in the face of atypical problems” (Geller and Greenberg, 2009, pg. 93). Emerging Adulthood represents the period of development from late teens through their twenties, mainly focusing on the ages 18-25. This is the period which people start exploring and realizing the capabilities of their lives, which then helps them characterize as adults and no longer teenagers. This process is defined by looking back over someone’s life, evaluating it, then accepting it. People who become successful in this stage feel a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.
