Bullying is an action of a group or an individual that repeatedly harming another person either physically or socially. Sometimes these actions are plainly visible, but other time these actions can be covert, such as ostracizing or spreading hurtful rumors. A person who has been constantly bullied sometimes can be very devastated; may commit some act that is totally unexpected. Ja’Meya Jackson, a fourteen years old girl, was a school basketball player, an honor student, and she was also charged with forty-five felony charges. One morning on a school bus ride, Ja’Meya Jackson decided to pull her mother’s handgun out on twenty-two students “just to scare them” Jackson claimed, but pulling a handgun out to scare other kids is not something that a …show more content…

She said that it had all started when some other kids on the bus started to call her with hurtful words, threw things at her, and threatened to do something to her. She said that she tried to tell adults but it got worse. Finally, she decided to take her mom’s handgun to the bus and pulled it out to make them stop messing with her, which resulted in forty-five felony charges. The fact that Ja’Meya was an honor student makes the act that she committed was even more shocking, and unexpected to lots of people. It is very depressing to see a potential girl like Ja’Meya had to go through something like this. Ja’Meya’s mom said that Ja’Meya told her that she did not want to hurt anybody, it shows how vulnerable she was at the time, she literally cannot protect herself anymore to the point where she had to use a weapon to protect her. And it obviously shows the fact that the school system did not make, or try to make, her feel safe at all. After she was arrested she was in the juvenile system for a few months to wait for her hearing. Even though at the end all the charges are dropped, had to spend few months in a juvenile detention center is still too long for a kid who had been going through miserable harassments. Ja’Meya’s
