Exercise 2:
a) Analyzing and evaluate the environment which are the internal and external assessments is the most important aspect of any business. So the cost of doing business is an idea related to evaluate the external environment, here a manager must consider the strengths and weaknesses of suppliers and partners, the accessibility of the technology, and the needs of external customers. The cost of doing business refers to the offered situation which has effects on the company which is in this case “Metro Cash & Carry”. Since we have stated the limitations and the available resources to develop the concept of the costs we can say that the analysis is created. Every culture refers to its beliefs, laws, knowledge, art, and customs which are the structure of values and norms which a society shares. The beliefs, the concepts concerning a society and attitudes form Values.
The Norms are unwritten, but accepted, laws and rules about society behaviors.
The Values and Norms are affected by a certain number of factors inside the society such as “social structure, religion, language, education, economic philosophy, and political philosophy”.

Since the Hofstede’s dimensions shows that Lebanon is approximately the same as India so doing the business in India which is the Metro Cash & Carry that can be applied in Lebanon must take into consideration these steps starting by:

Language

Different regions in India each have different style of talking and understanding words sometimes same word differs by meaning from region to another region. Also the connection between the CEO and the employees may cause problems if the CEO or the manager can’t talk the Indian, “Hindus” language and know when and where to use every word.

Cooperative Ventures: is when the partners influence their similarities and differences to create more quick results within the joint venture that should be done if they work in a team so they Indians and Germans can collaborate together to make a successful work.
Selection Employee Surveys: To increase the relationship between the leader or manager and his employees and increase the process of involving the employees in the decision making and the Indians work in team so this is easy to them.
The contact of Culture on Change Strategy: The vary process, like others, is influenced by culture so there should be an interaction between the German and the Indian culture.
