Mental abuse or also known as emotional abuse can hurt just as much as physical or even more in my opinion. I personally have witnessed and have been victimized by emotional abuse. When I was little around 3 or 4, my parents split apart because my dad would drink and cause commotions in our family. When they divorced and I got a little older, I was able to see him every weekend or every other. Whenever I would go to his house I remember having horrible nights, because he would start drinking around 5pm and I would be begging to go home. When my dad would get drunk, he turned into a monster and would not need a reason to yell at me or my brother. I remember one specific time where my brother and I wanted to call our Mom and when we asked my dad if we could call, he would say in an antagonizing way, “Oh you want your mommy you little baby? Little babies want their mommy.” On other occasions when we got older my brother and I would just be playing games, or doing whatever, and we would just start hearing the yelling.
