Memorial Scholarship was created for sophomore and junior Athletic Training majors and he was later inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame and Varsity "O" member in 1995 (ohiostate). Bill was the Ohio Athletic Trainers of University and Trainer of the Year in 1988. Hill served as President and was also inducted into the association's hall of fame in 1995, Hill was well respected on the camp(ohio state). Major collegiate athletics programs are able to generate millions of dollars for their institutions, but are not able to show any evidence of successfully graduating their black male athletes that contribute to their success in generating those millions of dollars. These universities in turn, are failing these student athletes whom were promised that they would nurture them intellectually as well as athletically. A four year report published by the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education presents statistics that shows that the six major sports conferences in the NCAA (ACC, Big Ten, Big East, Big 12, SEC, Pac 12) have weak graduation rates for male African American Student athletes. Jessica Anderson of the associated press wrote an article titled, Black Athletes' Graduation Rates Weak where she used evidence from the University of Pennsylvania’s study as well as information from The Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education to present findings that showed that only about, “50.2 percent of African-American male student-athletes graduated within six years and that 96.1 percent of the schools graduated African-American male student-athletes at rates lower than student-athletes overall” (Anderson). Yet, the evidence that African American male student athletes are struggling to graduate as compared to their white counterparts does not simply stop there. In fact, Shaun Harper the executive director of the Center for the Study of Race and Equity in Education at the University of Pennsylvania reports that, “50.2 percent of black male athletes graduate within six years from colleges compared with 67 percent of athletes over all, 73 percent of undergraduates, and 56 percent of black undergraduate men” (Harper)....
As a student that is currently seeking a career in the medical professions, I have had to routinely contemplate my reasons for pursuing such an extensive education program in a field that is constantly demanding excessive time and effort. I know of students—many friends and acquaintances of mine included—that have the most sure-fire, inspirational stories that align with their desire to become doctors, surgeons, physician assistants, etc. They always seemed to have a story that emphasized their desire to “give back” what they have received from the medical community. Because of that, ever since the beginning of high school, I have been trying to find an extraordinary reason, a purpose for my medical pursuits. Perhaps I could justify my passion for

Martin Luther King was one of the greatest civil right activists in American history. Martin Luther King impacted American society in many ways and one of the most important things he did for America was weakening racism in America. At the time when he was living, colored people living America were treated differently with white people. For example colored people needed a pass to go through certain places, they could not go to the same school as white people and it was much harder for colored people to get a job compare to white people. Martin Luther king thought these were wrong. He also thought these were against American dream. For him American dream meant every people having equal rights, opportunity and freedom. What was happening in America were completely against these. To fix this problem, Martin Luther King moved around the country and did nonviolent protest and organized a peaceful marching which attracted national attention showing brutality of police that were trying to stop the march. Martin Luther King also delivered a lot of speeches that inspired many people all over the world and one of his speeches include “I have a Dream.” One of the most famous speeches in America. Martin Luther King, Jr., overcame struggles during his time which were, racism, discrimination and segregation. He was not always named Martin and neither was his father. Around the first time Martin, Jr., got baptized him and his father changed their names from Michael to Martin. King was born on January 15, 1929. He died on April 4, 1968. Martin graduated with a bachelor's degree in divinity studies. He then enters Boston University. Not to long after that did he marry Corrette Scott in Marion, Alabama, on June 18, 1953. He had three kids by the names of Yolanda Denise, Martin Luther King the third, Bernice Albertina and Dexter Scott. All during this time colored people are being discriminated against and Martin wants to put a stop to it. Because of his acts to stop racism his birthday was made a national holiday on November 2, 1983.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. When most Americans hear that name the first thing that comes to mind is his “Dream”. But that is not all he was. His life was more than a fight against segregation, it was segregation. He lived it and overcame it to not only better himself but to prove it could be done and to better his fellow man.
Throughout my first year in middle school I have really started taking great thought into my future. I have realized that I am getting closer to my adult life and that I need to start to plan for the type of future that I wish to have. As much as I enjoy team activities, I do think of myself as more of a leader and would like to go about planning my career in this way. I am determined to go about things at an advanced pace which is why I believe I should be part of the National Junior Honor Society.
I believe that I, Christine Kuykendall, am a good candidate for a spot in National Junior Honors Society. I hold all of the core values, I am an all A student, and I love helping in the community. I am also a very hard worker and I believe that I can do great things in National Junior Honors Society.
I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary students who are eligible for the National Honor Society. The National Honor Society is an exceptional organization that allows students to help the needy, children, the elderly, and the community. I want to be a member of National Honor Society because of the limitless opportunities it presents to me. Throughout my years as a student, I have shown Academics, Leadership, Service, and Character that help qualify me to be a member of this great organization.
In many ways, I was not expecting the honor of being asked to join Alpha Beta Kappa. Though I did set goals for my first quarter of school, I did not expect myself to maintain those goals for the quarter let alone to maintain those goals several times throughout my academic career. After doing some research on the honor society, I have learned that to be considered for membership one must demonstrate the qualities of academic achievement, leadership, character, and dedication. To be asked to join it shows that I have achieved my personal goals to work as diligent as I possibly can to stand out among the many students that attend The Art Institute of Phoenix.
Martin Luther King saw how bad black people were treated, and during the 1950s he became involved in the Civil Rights movement. He was also the president of the boycott in (Rosmanitz, N.D.) 1955. In (Rosmanitz, N.D.) 1963 Martin Luther King gathered hundreds of thousands of Americans, black and white designed a march protest for equal rights in Washington D.C. The Lincoln Memorial is where Martin Luther king also gave his speech “I have a dream”. He is best known for his role in the of civil rights act using nonviolent in the civil rights act based on his Christian beliefs.
The Humanitarian award is given to people who go above and beyond expectations to help others, they put others first always with little thought about themselves. My mom fits all these characteristics and is well deserving of the Humanitarian award. My mom is deserving of this award because of the work that she does around the house. Not only does she clean it but with my dad and I's hectic schedule she always makes sure that dinner is made for us. She always goes above and beyond at her job she helps everyone who needs it. She makes sure to put family first she is constantly going over to my grandparent's house and helping them clean, and shovel due to their old age.
The internship that I acquired during the summer of 2010 at the Greenwood Sports and Industrial Rehabilitation Center (GSIRC), allowed me to gain an immeasurable amount of experience during my tenure at this facility. Within this period, the exposure to new concepts within the physical therapy industry allowed me to observe and work hands on with patients of all ages and disabilities that exposed me to various treatment plans and programs to restore client’s mobility. The essential Physical Education and Exercise Science (PEES) courses taken at Lander University were beneficial to my academic knowledgebase, which prepared me and developed me for the opportunity within the physical therapy discipline. Working as an intern taught me the responsibility of time management and working within a lean schedule that allow me to further develop my skill set. This reflection paper will illustrate my classroom experience, internship experience, and learning experience.
