The Humanitarian award is given to people who go above and beyond expectations to help others, they put others first always with little thought about themselves. My mom fits all these characteristics and is well deserving of the Humanitarian award. My mom is deserving of this award because of the work that she does around the house. Not only does she clean it but with my dad and I's hectic schedule she always makes sure that dinner is made for us. She always goes above and beyond at her job she helps everyone who needs it. She makes sure to put family first she is constantly going over to my grandparent's house and helping them clean, and shovel due to their old age. When it comes to our family, my mom would anything. She would go to the
moon and back for my dad and I. My dad and I both have crazy work and school schedules. My mom is the only one that works a nine to five job. My dad works for American Concrete pumping and works whenever they need him; sometimes he is gone from six in the morning to nine at night. My school schedule gets pretty chaotic as well. I get up at six and usually don’t get back to my house until seven because I have sports practice after school. Through all of that my mom gets up very early in the morning and wakes my dad up to make sure he is up for work no matter what time it is. Along with getting up early she makes my lunch for me and makes sure that she is done getting ready in the bathroom, so that I can use it when I wake up. She then goes and makes sure that I am up and while I am getting ready she starts making breakfast for me. My mom does the same routine for my dad and I at night, making sure we both have a hot dinner when we come home. My mom loves her co-workers. She has become very good friends with them and they go out for "girl's nights" often. My mom works at IWI Motor Parts where she orders parts and deals with how much money the company is spending. When one of my mom's co-workers of my mom is sick, my mom will go to her job extra early and do some of their work and throughout the day, she will switch back and forth between her job and their job. Which means she will stay extra late to finish up the work that needs to be done. Her co-workers love this because then they can focus on getting better and not worrying about the work that needs to be done. I can tell that sometimes doing this overwhelms my mom but she handles it with such grace. She doesn’t complain she just works till it is done. The only thing that my mom values more than my immediate family is her family. My grandma and grandpa are both well into their late 80's and early 90's so that’s hard for my mom to handle sometimes. My mom will go over and visit them often about three to four times a week. Along with going over there if there, is snow my mom gets up early and goes to their house to helps my grandpa shovel. In the summer when she goes over there, my grandma gives her the task of weeding the garden and trimming the bushes at least once a month, and for the past year now, she goes over once a month and helps my grandma clean her house. These are just a few of the thousands of reasons why my mom is so deserving of this award. She is very kind-hearted woman and played a huge impact on my life. When I grow up, and I am a mom I hope my kids see the kindness and love that I see in her, in me.
Four journalists named Helen Jones, Larry Andrews, Marcia Glaser, and Fred Myers thought it would be a good idea to create a nonprofit organization to help animals that have are treated cruelly by either abuse or when they are left alone. The Humane Society has been helping animals since November 24, 1954(2). Their mission since the beginning has been celebrating animals and confronting cruelty. There are a great number of things that the Humane Society has been doing for the animals, like saving them from people who want to harm them. The list of animals that the Humane Society helps is very long, because they don’t just help the household pets that you might have thought. The conditions of the Humane Society change due to the types of animals
Some historical figures have lived and died without their efforts and wishes for a better future for the Mexican-American community recognized. Fortunately, this was not the case for Jo Cox, who advocates for the Mexican-American community to this day. There is no doubt that the particular layout of space of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition reflected the gender inequalities that existed within American society at the time. In particular, the Women’s Building offered a microcosm of the prejudices that dominated the overall landscape of the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. Although the men who organized the Columbian Exposition were unable to exclude women’s achievements altogether from the exposition, they were successful in relegating them into a bounded unit that overwhelmingly categorized their contributions as different and marginal, framing womanliness as “soft,” “delicate,” and “refined.” Discussions of the Women’s Building’s architectural aesthetics highlights such gendered dimensions of the Columbian Exposition quite clearly.
Do you think its fair that players are credited for what they do, when cheating the game? Mark McGwire excelled at the game of baseball and got credit for all of his accomplishments, yet he cheated the game and used steroids. Babe Ruth, considered one of the greatest baseball players to play the game of baseball, who never cheated and set a great example for all who play baseball. Baseball has drastically changed over the years, especially in the cheating scandals of steroids; Babe Ruth set a great example by excelling in the sport and doing it clean, contrasting with Mark McGwire. Their existence shows how society accepted honesty and doing it the clean way in Babe’s era and how society accepts the scandals and dishonesty of Mark’s era.
In the year 3000, the planet Earth is a desolate wasteland. It has been a little over a half a century since the “big one” hit the Earth. The majority of the human race has been eliminated with only a few hundred remaining. The only ones who have survived barely made it on to the spaceship as the big one smashed the Earth. Marcus is one of the many survivors coping with solar winds and debris floating around the Moon. After half a century, the survivors are running out of supplies on the moon. The crew must go back to post-apocalyptic Earth and explore the wasteland. Marcus knows that this journey will not be an easy one. They encounter different
National Honor Society is an awesome organization that is made up of the best academic upperclassman in the school. I think a big part of the NHS is community service and a big project that I know our NHS does is the blood drive, which helps people and could even save lives. At LWHS there are some great opportunities to be a better person and serve the community and I have another way to make that happen.
Throughout my first year in middle school I have really started taking great thought into my future. I have realized that I am getting closer to my adult life and that I need to start to plan for the type of future that I wish to have. As much as I enjoy team activities, I do think of myself as more of a leader and would like to go about planning my career in this way. I am determined to go about things at an advanced pace which is why I believe I should be part of the National Junior Honor Society.
I believe that I, Christine Kuykendall, am a good candidate for a spot in National Junior Honors Society. I hold all of the core values, I am an all A student, and I love helping in the community. I am also a very hard worker and I believe that I can do great things in National Junior Honors Society.
This particular English 102 class pertains to going in depth of the heroic. This means to me that we will discuss what characteristics it takes to be a hero and how those characteristics have evolved in classic stories that many of us all know in today’s society. This course will help me develop better research skills, different and more efficient writing styles, and how to communicate with others. The objective is to be able to research a specific topic from a certain academic aspect that inspires myself, which in my case is nursing. For example, nurses have a duty like heroes and they are much alike, to help save people from something that is endangering that specific person whether it be a disease or a villain. The goals for English 102
Today in America, personal ambition serves the common good. Motivates successful individuals drive social and economic progress and set strong examples for others. In order to help the common good, the common good must first help themselves. Instead of relying on others and the government for assistance, we should all reflect on ourselves and see what we can do for ourselves. If everyone helped themselves no one would need to be helped. Reliance on others is a huge problem with in our society, including a reliance on the government, other citizens and technology, and a reliance on others to help us achieve everyday activities. If we all tried self helping ourselves the world would be a much better place.
Coming into my senior year I was very anxious and ready to get it over with. Everyone kept telling me that it was going to be the easiest year of high school, but I completely disagree. I would not say it was my hardest, but most definitely not the easiest, I did enjoy it though. It was very fun during the whole year, but once it came down to the last three or two months I began to give up. I was so ready for it to be over, and the more anxious I was the slower it seemed to get here. Unfortunately, I missed the main things that really mattered this year, like my cap and gown fitting, my last year book picture; all because I did not want to come to school this year. I really did not see no point in coming since I only needed two more credits to graduate, but in the 3rd quarter my
... they need. She has volunteered at homeless shelters and worked with the mentally disabled. She gives any clothes or items that we no longe need to the orphanage in Mexico. She always puts others first and I am proud to say that my mother has worked very hard and came a long way. She does no know the words “give up”. If there’s anything she has in abundance, it is perseverance; most importantly, she is able to see the potential in me and gives me the courage to do the things I hesitate to do.
